Aqueous zinc-ion batteries(ZIBs) combine the benefits of metallic Zn anodes with those of aqueous electrolytes and are well suited for large-scale energy storage because of their inherent high safety, cost-effectiveness, and eco-friendliness. Currently, the practical application of such batteries is hindered by the poor cycling performance of Zn anodes due to uncontrolled dendrite formation and severe side reactions, although recent reports suggest that these problems can be mitigated through the modification of Zn anodes with metal-based *** that the mechanisms of improving Zn deposition and the structural evolution of metal-based materials have not been systematically reviewed, we herein systematically overview the metal-based materials used to stabilize Zn anodes, starting with a brief summary of the anode working mechanism and the challenges faced by stabilized Zn anodes. Subsequently, the design principles of Zn anodes stabilized by metal-based materials and the related recent progress are reviewed, and the key challenges and perspectives for the future development of such Zn anodes are proposed.

Chalcogen-dependent catalytic properties of RuX2 (X = S/Se/Te) nanoparticles decorated carbon nanofibers for hydrogen evolution in acidic and alkaline media

Transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDs),with the general formula MX_(2)(M=Mo/W/Fe/Co/Ni,etc.;X=S/Se/Te),have attracted extensive research interests for hydrogen evolution reaction(heR).Compared with numerous studies on noble-metal-free TMDs,the chalcogen-dependent heR catalytic properties of noble-metal-based TMDs are lack of sufficient research ***,a facile electrospinning-assisted synthetic strategy is proposed to synthesize ruthenium dichalcogenides(RuX_(2),X=S/Se/Te)nanoparticles decorated carbon nanofibers(CNFs).Benefiting from the identical nanofibrous morphology and exposed crystal planes of RuX_(2)(111),the catalytic activities of RuX_(2)@CNFs samples were investigated and compared in a fair and direct *** electrochemical measurements coupled with density functional theory calculations were carried out to probe their intrinsic heR catalytic activities,resulting in the catalytic activity order of RuS_(2)@CNFs>RuSe_(2)@CNFs>RuTe_(2)@CNFs in acidic media and that of RuS_(2)@CNFs>RuTe_(2)@CNFs>RuSe_(2)@CNFs in alkaline *** superior catalytic performance of RuS_(2)@CNFs mainly stems from the relative lower heR energy barriers and thereby the higher intrinsic catalytic activity of RuS_(2)(111),leading to ultralow overpotentials of 44 and 9 mV at 10 mA·cm^(-2) in acidic and alkaline media,***_(2)(111)is endowed with the more optimized Gibbs free energy of hydrogen adsorption(ΔGH*)than RuTe_(2)(111),but RuTe_(2)(111)shows enhanced catalytic property for H_(2)O dissociation and OH-desorption than RuSe_(2)(111),therefore,resulting in the altered catalytic activity sequences for RuSe_(2) and RuTe_(2) in acidic and alkaline media.

Electrocatalytic water splitting has been identified as a potential candidate for producing clean hydrogen energy with zero carbon ***,the sluggish kinetics of oxygen evolution reaction on the anode side of the watersplitting device significantly hinders its practical ***,the efficiency of oxygen evolution processes depends greatly on the availability of cost‐effective catalysts with high activity and *** recent years,extensive theoretical and experimental studies have demonstrated that cobalt(Co)‐based nanomaterials,especially low‐dimensional Co‐based nanomaterials with a huge specific surface area and abundant unsaturated active sites,have emerged as versatile electrocatalysts for oxygen evolution reactions,and thus,great progress has been made in the rational design and synthesis of Co‐based nanomaterials for electrocatalytic oxygen evolution *** the remarkable progress in this area,in this timely review,we highlight the most recent developments in Co‐based nanomaterials relating to their dimensional control,defect regulation(conductivity),electronic structure regulation,and so ***,a brief conclusion about recent progress achieved in oxygen evolution on Co‐based nanomaterials,as well as an outlook on future research challenges,is given.

Inter-stage performance and energy characteristics analysis of electric submersible pump based on entropy production theory

The electric submersible pump(ESP) is a crucial apparatus utilized for lifting in the oil extraction *** lifting capacity is enhanced by the multi-stage tandem structure, but variations in energy characteristics and internal flow across stages are also introduced. In this study, the inter-stage variability of energy characteristics in ESP hydraulic systems is investigated through entropy production(EP) analysis,which incorporates numerical simulations and experimental validation. The EP theory facilitates the quantification of energy loss in each computational subdomain at all ESP stages, establishing a correlation between microscopic flow structure and energy dissipation within the system. Furthermore, the underlying causes of inter-stage variability in ESP hydraulic systems are examined, and the advantages and disadvantages of applying the EP theory in this context are evaluated. Consistent energy characteristics within the ESP, aligned with the distribution of internal flow structure, are provided by the EP theory, as demonstrated by our results. The EP theory also enables the quantitative analysis of internal flow losses and complements existing performance analysis methods to map the internal flow structure to hydraulic losses. Nonetheless, an inconsistency between the energy characterization based on EP theory and the traditional efficiency index when reflecting inter-stage differences is identified. This inconsistency arises from the exclusive focus of the EP theory on flow losses within the flow field, disregarding the quantification of external energy input to the flow field. This study provides a reference for the optimization of EP theory in rotating machinery while deeply investigating the energy dissipation characteristics of multistage hydraulic system, which has certain theoretical and practical significance.

Drug-Target Interactions Prediction Based on Signed heterogeneous Graph Neural Networks

Drug-target interactions(DTIs) prediction plays an important role in the process of drug *** computational methods treat it as a binary prediction problem, determining whether there are connections between drugs and targets while ignoring relational types information. Considering the positive or negative effects of DTIs will facilitate the study on comprehensive mechanisms of multiple drugs on a common target, in this work, we model DTIs on signed heterogeneous networks, through categorizing interaction patterns of DTIs and additionally extracting interactions within drug pairs and target protein pairs. We propose signed heterogeneous graph neural networks(SHGNNs), further put forward an end-to-end framework for signed DTIs prediction, called SHGNN-DTI,which not only adapts to signed bipartite networks, but also could naturally incorporate auxiliary information from drug-drug interactions(Ddis) and protein-protein interactions(PPIs). For the framework, we solve the message passing and aggregation problem on signed DTI networks, and consider different training modes on the whole networks consisting of DTIs, Ddis and PPIs. Experiments are conducted on two datasets extracted from Drug Bank and related databases, under different settings of initial inputs, embedding dimensions and training modes. The prediction results show excellent performance in terms of metric indicators, and the feasibility is further verified by the case study with two drugs on breast cancer.
