To better characterize the properties of surface-initiated polymers, simultaneous bulk-and surface-initiated polymerizations are usually carried out by assuming that the properties of the surface-initiated polymers resemble those of the bulk-initiated polymers. Through a Monte Carlo simulation using a heterogeneous stochastic reaction model, it was discovered that the bulk-initiated polymers exhibit a higher molecular weight and a lower dispersity than the corresponding surface-initiated polymers, which indicates that the equivalent assumption is invalid. Furthermore, the molecular weight distributions of the two types of polymers are also different, suggesting different polymerization mechanisms. The results can be simply explained by the heterogeneous distributions of reactants in the system. This study is helpful to better understand surface-initiated polymerization.

Immunotherapy is an important cancer treatment method that offers hope for curing cancer *** immunotherapy has achieved initial success,a major obstacle to its widespread adoption is the inability to benefit the majority of *** success or failure of immunotherapy is closely linked to the tumor’s immune ***,there has been significant attention on strategies to regulate the tumor immune microenvironment in order to stimulate anti-tumor immune responses in cancer *** distinctive physical properties and design flexibility of nanomedicines have been extensively utilized to target immune cells(including tumor-associated macrophages(TAMs),T cells,myeloid-derived suppressor cells(MDSCs),and tumor-associated fibroblasts(TAFs)),offering promising advancements in cancer *** this article,we have reviewed treatment strategies aimed at targeting various immune cells to regulate the tumor immune *** focus is on cancer immunotherapy models that are based on nanomedicines,with the goal of inducing or enhancing anti-tumor immune responses to improve *** is worth noting that combining cancer immunotherapy with other treatments,such as chemotherapy,radiotherapy,and photodynamic therapy,can maximize the therapeutic ***,we have identified the challenges that nanotechnology-mediated immunotherapy needs to overcome in order to design more effective nanosystems.

Selenomethionine alleviates chronic heat stress-induced breast muscle injury and poor meat quality in broilers via relieving mitochondrial dysfunction and endoplasmic reticulum stress

In the present study, the chronic heat stress (CHS) broiler model was developed to investigate the potential protection mechanism of organic selenium (selenomethionine, SeMet) on CHS-induced skeletal muscle growth retardation and poor meat quality. Four hundred Arbor Acres male broilers (680 ± 70 g, 21 d old) were grouped into 5 treatments with 8 replicates of 10 broilers per replicate. Broilers in the control group were raised in a thermoneutral environment (22 ± 2 °C) and fed with a basal diet. The other four treatments were exposed to hyperthermic conditions (33 ± 2 °C, 24 h in each day) and fed on the basal diet supplied with SeMet at 0.0, 0.2, 0.4, and 0.6 mg Se/kg, respectively, for 21 d. Results showed that CHS reduced ( P 0.05) the growth performance, decreased ( P 0.05) the breast muscle weight and impaired the meat quality of breast muscle in broilers. CHS induced protein metabolic disorder in breast muscle, which increased ( P 0.05) the expression of caspase 3, caspase 8, caspase 9 and ubiquitin proteasome system related genes, while decreased the protein expression of P-4EBP1. CHS also decreased the antioxidant capacity and induced mitochondrial stress and endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress in breast muscle, which increased ( P 0.05) the ROS levels, decreased the concentration of ATP, increased the protein expression of HSP60 and CLPX, and increased ( P 0.05) the expression of ER stress biomarkers. Small-scale measurements of the radon exhalation rate using the flow-through and closed-loop methods were conducted on the surface of a uranium tailing pond to better understand the differences between the two *** abnormal radon exhalation behavior was observed,leading to computational fluid dynamics(CFD)-based simulations in which dynamic radon migration in a porous medium and accumulation chamber was *** on the in-situ experimental and numerical simulation results,variations in the radon exhalation rate subject to permeability,flow rate,and insertion depth were quantified and *** in-situ radon exhalation rates measured using the flow-through method were higher than those measured using the closed-loop method,which could be explained by the negative pressure difference between the inside and outside of the chamber during the *** consistency of the variations in the radon exhalation rate between the experiments and simulations suggests the reliability of CFD-based techniques in obtaining the dynamic evolution of transient radon exhalation rates for diffusion and convection at the porous medium-air *** synergistic effects of the three factors(insertion depth,flow rate,and permeability)on the negative pressure difference and measured exhalation rate were quantified,and multivariate regression models were established,with positive correlations in most cases;the exhalation rate decreased with increasing insertion depth at a permeability of 1×10^(−11) m^(2).CFD-based simulations can provide theoretical guidance for improving the flow-through method and thus achieve accurate measurements.

Zeolitic imidazolate frameworks(ZIFs)are an important subclass of metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)with zeolite-type topology,which can be fabricated under ambient synthesis ***,the applications of ZIFs are commonly limited due to the weak hydrostability of their metal–ligand coordination bonds,particularly under humid and aqueous *** this work,as an example,the hydrolysis behaviours of ZIF-L with a special focus on ZIF-L coatings were tested at aqueous conditions with a wide range of pHs to systematically study and fundamentally understand their structural stability and degradation *** ZIF-L powder and ZIF-L coatings were severely damaged after only 24 h in aqueous ***,the ZIF-L coatings showed two distinct hydrolyzation pathways regardless of pH conditions,exhibiting either a ring-shaped etching or unfolding *** the ZIF-L powders were hydrolyzed almost identically across all pH *** this new understanding,a facile silk fibroin(SF)protein modification method was developed to enhance the hydrostability of ZIF-L coatings in aqueous *** effect of protein concentration on surface coating was systemically ***-L coating retained its surface morphology after soaking in water and demonstrated switchable super wetting properties and superior separation performance for oil/water *** a result,the quick SF protein modification significantly enhanced the stability of ZIF-L coatings under various pHs,while retaining their switchable wetting property and excellent separation performance.

基于ABAQUS有限元软件建立了薄带材浪形生成与拉伸过程有限元模型,研究了带材在初应变作用下的浪形缺陷生成规律及其在张力拉伸作用下的应力特性及其变形行为,并进一步分析了浪形缺陷拉伸矫直矫平功效的主要影响因素及其影响规律.薄带钢变形过程可分为浪形生缺陷生成、拉伸矫直和弹性回复三个阶段.针对薄钢带弹性后屈曲浪形和铝带弹塑性后屈曲浪形两类典型浪形形式,研究了浪形缺陷在后屈曲和拉伸变形阶段的浪形陡度变化与系统能量变化规律.研究表明:弹性后屈曲浪形在拉伸矫直过程中浪数和浪高均发生变化,而弹塑性后屈曲浪形仅发生浪高的连续变化.弹性后屈曲浪形矫直后的残余应力分布形式与初始应力分布类似,而弹塑性后屈曲浪形的残余应力分布发生显著差异.浪形缺陷的残余陡度随初始浪形陡度增大而增大,随带厚增加而减小,且弹塑性后屈曲浪形缺陷的矫直效果更为显著.
