Actinidia chinensis polysaccharide interferes with the epithelial-mesenchymal transition of gastric cancer by regulating the nuclear transcription factor-κB pathway to inhibit invasion and metastasis

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the mechanisms of the effect of Actinidia chinensis polysaccharide (ACPS) on the invasion and metastasis of gastric cancer cells. METHODS: BGC-823-Luc gastric cancer cells stably transfected with a luciferase gene were used to establish an in situ transplanted tumor mouse model. A live mouse imaging system was used to observe tumor growth， and hematoxylin and eosin staining was applied to analyze tissue histopathology. Transwell and scratch wound assays were performed to examine the invasive and migratory ability of BGC-823 cells. Immunofluorescence， confocal microscopy， immunohistochemistry， and Western blot assays were used to analyze the expressions of the nuclear transcription factor-κB (NF-κB) signaling pathway and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT)-related proteins. RESULTS: ACPS significantly inhibited the growth of subcutaneously transplanted BGC-823-Luc gastric cancer tumors in nude mice and reduced inflammatory cell infiltration in tumor tissues. ACPS inhibited Epidermal Growth Factor-induced invasion， migration， and morphological changes in the cytoskeleton of BGC-823 cells. ACPS inhibited gastric cancer EMT and decreased the expression of MMP-9， N-cadherinandp-NF-κB p65 in transplanted tumor tissues. ACPS promoted p65-NF-κB nuclear translocation， inhibited the expression of matrix metalloproteinases and vascular adhesion factors in BGC-823 cells， promoted the NF-κB inflammatory pathway metastasis-associated protein expression of phospho-IKK alpha/beta (p-IKKα/β) and p65， and inhibited the protein expression of IKKκα. CONCLUSIONS: ACPS inhibited gastric cancer invasion and metastasis both in vivo and in vitro， which evidenced the inhibition of gastric cancer EMT via regulating the NF-κB inflammatory pathway.

BACKGROUND The neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio(NLR)and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio(PLR)are novel inflammatory indicators that can be used to predict the severity and prognosis of various *** categorize acute pancreatitis by etiology into acute biliary pancreatitis(ABP)and hypertriglyceridemia-induced acute pancreatitis(HTGP).AIM To investigate the clinical significance of NLR and PLR in assessing persistent organ failure(POF)in HTGP and *** A total of 1450 patients diagnosed with acute pancreatitis(AP)for the first time at Shanxi Bethune Hospital between January 2012 and January 2023 were *** patients were categorized into two groups according to the etiology of AP:ABP in 530 patients and HTGP in 241 *** collected and compared the clinical data of the patients,including NLR,PLR,and AP prognostic scoring systems,within 48 h of hospital *** The NLR(9.1 vs 6.9,P<0.001)and PLR(203.1 vs 160.5,P<0.001)were significantly higher in the ABP group than in the HTGP *** the HTGP group,both NLR and PLR were significantly increased in patients with severe AP and those with a SOFA score≥***,in the ABP group,NLR and PLR were significantly elevated in patients with severe AP,modified computed tomography severity index score≥4,Japanese Severity Score≥3,and modified Marshall score≥***,NLR and PLR showed predictive value for the development of POF in both the ABP and HTGP *** NLR and PLR vary between ABP and HTGP,are strongly associated with AP prognostic scoring systems,and have predictive potential for the occurrence of POF in both ABP and HTGP.

The strong pyrocatalytic dye decomposition of the BaTiO_(3)/Pr_(2)O_(3) heterojunction catalyst under cold–hot alternation conditions has been demonstrated in this *** pure BaTiO_(3) nanofibers,~54%rhodamine B(RhB)dye is decomposed under the cold–hot alternation of 29–57℃.With the loading content of Pr_(2)O_(3) increases from 0 to 4 wt%,the pyrocatalytic decomposition ratio of RhB solution increases first and then decreases,eventually achieving a maximum of 91%at 3 wt%.The enhanced pyrocatalytic performance after loading Pr_(2)O_(3) can be attributed to an internal electric field of the heterojunction,which effectively separates positive and negative *** strongly pyrocatalytic performance of BaTiO_(3)/Pr_(2)O_(3) makes it hopeful for applications in the dye wastewater treatment through harvesting the environmental cold–hot temperature alternation thermal energy in future.

Variability of urban fractional vegetation cover and its driving factors in 328 cities in China

Urban green space promotes the health of urban residents,enhances urban ecosystem biodiversity,mitigates environmental pollution,and attenuates urban heat island ***,urban vegetation cover is highly heterogeneous and difficult to *** this study,the variation of urban fractional vegetation cover(FVC)in 328 cities in China from 1990 to2022 was quantified based on Landsat satellite data at a 30-m *** was found that from 1990 to 2005,due to increases in building density and impervious surfaces in cities,the national mean urban vegetation cover decreased from 0.38 to ***2005,urban vegetation cover began to reverse,reaching 0.45 in *** increasing trend was most pronounced in newly built urban *** decrease in average urban vegetation cover before 2005 was mainly due to the expansion of low vegetation cover areas,while the increase in urban vegetation cover after 2005 manifested as the expansion of high vegetation cover *** reversal in the trend of urban vegetation cover change after 2004 is related to the gradual implementation of national policies requiring increased urban green space *** urban gross domestic product(GDP)showed the highest correlation with changes in urban vegetation *** large and medium-sized cities,the top three factors influencing vegetation cover were GDP,urban population,and ***,for cities in arid/semi-arid regions,changes in vegetation cover were more sensitive to climatic factors(such as precipitation).Although the urban vegetation cover in China has substantially increased in recent years,the urban green space in small-sized cities and in the old urban districts of large-sized cities still have room to improve.

All-dielectric terahertz metasurface governed by bound states in the continuum with high-Q factor

The method of terahertz(THz)resonance with a high-quality(high-Q)factor offers a vital physical mechanism for metasurface sensors and other high-Q factor ***,it is challenging to excite the resonance with a high-Q factor in metasurfaces with proper sensitivity as well as figure of merit(FOM)***,an all-dielectric metasurface composed of two asymmetrical rectangular blocks is *** and silicon are the materials applied for the substrate and cuboids *** distinct resonance governed by bound states in the continuum(BIC)is excited by forming an asymmetric cluster by a novel hybrid method of cutting and moving the *** investigation focuses on analyzing the transmission spectra of the metasurface under different variations in structural parameters and the loss of silicon refractive *** the proposed defective metasurface serves as a transmittance sensor,it shows a Q factor of 1.08×10^(4)and achieves an FOM up to 4.8×10^(6),which is obtained under the asymmetric parameter equalling 1μ***,the proposed defective metasurface is sensitive to small changes in refractive *** the thickness of the analyte is 180μm,the sensitivity reaches a maximum value of 578 GHz/***,the proposed defective metasurface exhibits an extensive number of possible applications in the filters,biomedical diagnosis,security screening,and so on.

A Gel-Based Solidification Technology for Large Fracture Plugging

Fault fractures usually have large openings and considerable extension. Accordingly, cross-linked gel materials aregenerally considered more suitable plugging agents than water-based gels because the latter often undergo contaminationvia formation water, which prevents them from being effective over long times. Hence, in this study, aset of oil-based composite gels based on waste grease and epoxy resin has been developed. These materials havebeen observed to possess high compressive strength and resistance to the aforementioned contamination, therebyleading to notable increase in plugging success rate. The compressive strength, thickening time, and resistance toformation water pollution of these gels have been evaluated indoors. The results show that the compressivestrength of the gel can reach 11 MPa;additionally, the related gelation time can be controlled to be more than3 h, thereby providing a safe construction time;Invasion of formation water has a small effect on the gel strengthand does not shorten the thickening time. All considered performance indicators of the oil-based gel confirm itssuitability as a plugging agent for fault fractures.

Target Detection on Water Surfaces Using Fusion of Camera and LiDAR Based Information

To address the challenges of missed detections in water surface target detection using solely visual algorithms in unmanned surface vehicle(USV)perception,this paper proposes a method based on the fusion of visual and LiDAR point-cloud projection for water surface target ***,the visual recognition component employs an improved YOLOv7 algorithmbased on a self-built dataset for the detection of water surface *** algorithm modifies the original YOLOv7 architecture to a Slim-Neck structure,addressing the problemof excessive redundant information during feature extraction in the original YOLOv7 network ***,this modification simplifies the computational burden of the detector,reduces inference time,and maintains ***,to tackle the issue of sample imbalance in the self-built dataset,slide loss function is ***,this paper replaces the original Complete Intersection over Union(CIoU)loss function with the Minimum Point Distance Intersection over Union(MPDIoU)loss function in the YOLOv7 algorithm,which accelerates model learning and enhances *** mitigate the problem of missed recognitions caused by complex water surface conditions in purely visual algorithms,this paper further adopts the fusion of LiDAR and camera data,projecting the threedimensional point-cloud data from LiDAR onto a two-dimensional pixel *** significantly reduces the rate of missed detections for water surface targets.

Reasonably constructing an atomic interface is pronouncedly essential for surface-related gas-sensing ***,we present an ingen-ious feedback-regulation system by changing the interactional mode between single Pt atoms and adjacent S species for high-efficiency SO_(2)*** found that the single Pt sites on the MoS_(2)surface can induce easier volatiliza-tion of adjacent S species to activate the whole inert S ***,the activated S species can provide a feedback role in tailoring the antibonding-orbital electronic occupancy state of Pt atoms,thus creating a combined system involving S vacancy-assisted single Pt sites(Pt-Vs)to synergistically improve the adsorption ability of SO_(2)gas ***-more,in situ Raman,ex situ X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy testing and density functional theory analysis demonstrate the intact feedback-regulation system can expand the electron transfer path from single Pt sites to whole Pt-MoS_(2)supports in SO_(2)gas *** with wireless-sensing modules,the final Pt1-MoS_(2)-def sensors array can further realize real-time monitoring of SO_(2)levels and cloud-data storage for plant *** a fundamental understanding of the intrinsic link between atomic interface and sensing mechanism is thus expected to broaden the rational design of highly effective gas sensors.
