Engineering surface framework TiO6 single sites for unprecedented deep oxidative desulfurization

Catalytic oxidative desulfurization（ODS） using titanium silicate catalysts has emerged as an efficient technique for the complete removal of organosulfur compounds from automotive fuels. However, the precise control of highly accessible and stable-framework Ti active sites remains highly challenging. Here we reveal for the first time by using density functional theory calculations that framework hexa-coordinated Ti（TiO6） species of mesoporous titanium silicates are the most active sites for ODS and lead to a lower-energy pathway of ODS. A novel method to achieve highly accessible and homogeneously distributed framework TiO6active single sites at the mesoporous surface has been developed. Such surface framework TiO6species exhibit an exceptional ODS performance. A removal of 920 ppm of benzothiophene is achieved at60°C in 60 min, which is 1.67 times that of the best catalyst reported so far. For bulky molecules such as4,6-dimethyldibenzothiophene（DMDBT）, it takes only 3 min to remove 500 ppm of DMDBT at 60°C with our catalyst, which is five times faster than that with the current best catalyst. Such a catalyst can be easily upscaled and could be used for concrete industrial application in the ODS of bulky organosulfur compounds with minimized energy consumption and high reaction efficiency.

Porous organic cages(POCs)with permanent porosity and excellent host–guest property hold great potentials in regulating ion transport behavior,yet their feasibility as solid-state electrolytes has never been testified in a practical ***,we design and fabricate a quasi-solid-state electrolyte(QSSE)based on a POC to enable the stable operation of Li-metal batteries(LMBs).Benefiting from the ordered channels and cavity-induced anion-trapping effect of POC,the resulting POC-based QSSE exhibits a high Li+transference number of 0.67 and a high ionic conductivity of 1.25×10^(−4) S cm^(−1) with a low activation energy of 0.17 *** allow for homogeneous Li deposition and highly reversible Li plating/stripping for over 2000 *** a proof of concept,the LMB assembled with POC-based QSSE demonstrates extremely stable cycling performance with 85%capacity retention after 1000 ***,our work demonstrates the practical applicability of POC as SSEs for LMBs and could be extended to other energy-storage systems,such as Na and K batteries.

BACKGROUND Primary squamous cell carcinoma(SCC)of the renal parenchyma is extremely rare,with only nine cases *** SUMMARY This study reports a 51-year-old man with primary SCC of the renal *** patient was admitted with recurrent dull pain and discomfort in the right lumbar region,which had worsened over 2 weeks,accompanied by painful gross *** antigen(SCCA)levels were elevated,and imaging revealed a renal mass with associated *** patient underwent laparoscopic unilateral nephrectomy and lymph node *** pathology confirmed highly differentiated SCC with necrosis in the right renal parenchyma,with negative renal pelvis and *** pathological stage was *** months after surgery,the tumor recurred with involvement of the liver,right psoas major muscle,and inferior vena *** patient refused chemotherapy and succumbed to the disease 6 months postoperatively due to disease *** We report a case of primary SCC of the renal parenchyma,a rare renal *** clinical symptoms,laboratory tests,and imaging findings are nonspecific,making accurate and timely diagnosis *** to the literature,for patients with renal calculi accompanied by a renal mass,elevated serum SCCA levels,and magnetic resonance imaging showing cystic or cystic-solid masses within the kidney with pseudocapsules and heterogeneous mild enhancement,the possibility of this disease should be considered.

Developing effective strategies to regulate graphene’s conduction loss and polarization has become a key to expanding its application in the electromagnetic wave absorption(EMWA)*** on the unique energy band structure of graphene,regulating its bandgap and electrical properties by introducing heteroatoms is considered a feasible ***,metal-nitrogen doping reduced graphene oxide(M–N-RGO)was prepared by embedding a series of single metal atoms M–N_(4) sites(M=Mn,Fe,Co,Ni,Cu,Zn,Nb,Cd,and Sn)in RGO using an N-coordination atom-assisted *** composites had adjustable conductivity and polarization to optimize dielectric loss and impedance matching for efficient EMWA *** results showed that the minimum reflection loss(RL_(min))of Fe–N-RGO reaches−74.05 dB(2.0 mm)and the maximum effective absorption bandwidth(EAB_(max))is 7.05 GHz(1.89 mm)even with a low filler loading of only 1 wt%.Combined with X-ray absorption spectra(XAFS),atomic force microscopy,and density functional theory calculation analysis,the Fe–N_(4) can be used as the polarization center to increase dipole polarization,interface polarization and defect-induced polarization due to d-p orbital hybridization and structural ***,electron migration within the Fe further leads to conduction loss,thereby synergistically promoting energy *** study demonstrates the effectiveness of metal-nitrogen doping in regulating the graphene′s dielectric properties,which provides an important basis for further investigation of the loss mechanism.

Multi-dimensional classification via stacked dependency exploitation

Multi-dimensional classification(MDC) aims to build classification models for multiple heterogenous class spaces simultaneously, where each class space characterizes the semantics of an object w.r.t. one specific dimension. Modeling dependencies among class spaces plays a key role in solving MDC tasks, where most approaches work by assuming directed acyclic graph(DAG) structure or random chaining structure over class spaces. Different from existing probabilistic strategies, a deterministic strategy named Seem for dependency modeling is proposed in this paper via stacked dependency exploitation. In the first-level, pairwise dependencies are considered which can be modeled more reliably than modeling full dependencies among all class spaces by DAG or chaining structure. In the second-level, the class label of unseen instance *** class space is determined by adaptively stacking predictive outputs from first-level pairwise *** results show that stacked dependency exploitation leads to superior performance against stateof-the-art MDC approaches.

“Light” of the spinach major light-harvester structure

In 2004,Wenrui Chang and his colleagues determined for the first time the atomic structure of the spinach major lightharvesting complex of photosystem II(LHC-II)and published their results in the journal Nature as a full article(Liu et al.,2004).A figure showing the structural model of spinach major LHC-II in a sophisticated and elegant assembly of icosahedral proteoliposome was selected for the cover of that issue of Nature(Fig.1).Publication of this article immediately drew great attentions from related academe,both domestic and overseas.

Study of Surface Cell Madelung Constant and Surface Free Energy of Nanosized Crystal Grain

Surface cell Madelung constant is firstly defined in calculating surface free energy of nanosized crystal grains, which explains the physical performance of small crystals and may be great benefit to make surface analysis and study dynamics of crystal nucleus growth. A new approximative expression of surface energy and relevant thermodynamic data was used in this calculation. A new formula and computing method for calculating the Madelung constant a of any complex crystals is proposed, and surface free energies and surface electrostatic energies of nanosized crystal grains as well as Madelung constant of some complex crystals are theoretically calculated in this paper. The surface free energy of nanosized crystal grain TiO2 and surface electrostatic energy（absolute value） of nanosized crystal grain α-A12O3 are found to be the biggest among other crystal grains.

Effects of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor and angiotensin Ⅱ receptor blocker on one-year outcomes of patients with atrial fibrillation: insights from a multicenter registry study in China

Objective To evaluate the effect of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor(ACEI)/angiotensin Ⅱ receptor blocker(ARB)therapy on the prognosis of patients with atrial fibrillation(AF).Methods A total of 1,991 AF patients from the AF registry were divided into two groups according to whether they were treated with ACEI/ARB at *** characteristics were carefully collected and *** regression was utilized to identify the predictors of ACEI/ARB *** primary endpoint was all-cause mortality,while the secondary endpoints included cardiovascular mortality,stroke and major adverse events(MAEs)during the one-year follow-up *** and multivariable Cox regression were performed to identify the association between ACEI/ARB therapy and the one-year *** In total,759 AF patients(38.1%)were treated with ACEI/*** with AF patients without ACEI/ARB therapy,patients treated with ACEI/ARB tended to be older and had a higher rate of permanent AF,hypertension,diabetes mellitus,heart failure(HF),left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF)mined to be predictors of ACEI/ARB *** analysis showed that ACEI/ARB therapy was associated with a significantly lower risk of one-year all-cause mortality[hazard ratio(HR)(95%CI):0.682(0.527-0.882),P=0.003],cardiovascular mortality[HR(95%CI):0.713(0.514-0.988),P=0.042]and MAEs[HR(95%CI):0.698(0.568-0.859),P=0.001].The association between ACEI/ARB therapy and reduced mortality was consistent in the subgroup *** In patients with AF,ACEI/ARB was related to significantly reduced one-year all-cause mortality,cardiovascular mortality and MAEs despite the high burden of cardiovascular comorbidities.
