As one of the most important terminals in machining, cutting tools have been widely used for components manufacturing in aerospace and other industries. The quality of these components and processing efficiency are closely linked to the performance of cutting tools. Therefore, it is essential and critical to inspect the cutting tools and monitor the condition during the stage of manufacturing and machining. This review aims to discuss and summarize the key problems, methods,and techniques from the perspective of the tool geometric and the physical quantities measurement,including machine vision, physical sensors and data processing. It is worth mentioning that we focus on the topic of precision measurement methods and discuss universal solutions by identifying the common characteristics of the measured quantities. Eventually, the challenges and future trends for the development of in-depth research and practical applications are concluded. The research and application of precise measurement techniques for geometric and physical quantities will better promote the development of intelligent manufacturing.

AIM:To investigate the difference of medial rectus(MR)and lateral rectus(LR)between acute acquired concomitant esotropia(AACE)and the healthy controls(HCs)detected by magnetic resonance imaging(MRI).METHODS:A case-control study.Eighteen subjects with AACE and eighteen HCs were enrolled.MRI scanning data were conducted in target-controlled central gaze with a 3-Tesla magnetic resonance scanner.Extraocular muscles(EOMs)were scanned in contiguous image planes 2-mm thick spanning the EOM origins to the globe equator.To form posterior partial volumes(PPVs),the LR and MR cross-sections in the image planes 8,10,12,and 14 mm posterior to the globe were summed and multiplied by the 2-mm slice thickness.The data were classified according to the right eye,left eye,dominant eye,and non-dominant eye,and the differences in mean cross-sectional area,maximum cross-sectional area,and PPVs of the MR and LR muscle in the AACE group and HCs group were compared under the above classifications respectively.RESULTS:There were no significant differences between the two groups of demographic characteristics.The mean cross-sectional area of the LR muscle was significantly greater in the AACE group than that in the HCs group in the non-dominant eyes(P=0.028).The maximum cross-sectional area of the LR muscle both in the dominant and non-dominant eye of the AACE group was significantly greater than the HCs group(P=0.009,P=0.016).For the dominant eye,the PPVs of the LR muscle were significantly greater in the AACE than that in the HCs group(P=0.013),but not in the MR muscle(P=0.698).CONCluSION:The size and volume of muscles dominant eyes of AACE subjects change significantly to overcome binocular diplopia.The LR muscle become larger to compensate for the enhanced convergence in the AACE.

Objective:Research has shown that celastrol can effectively treat a variety of diseases,yet when passing a certain dosage threshold,celastrol becomes toxic,causing complications such as liver and kidney damage and erythrocytopenia,among others.With this dichotomy in mind,it is extremely important to find ways to preserve celastrol’s efficacy while reducing or preventing its toxicity.Methods:In this study,insulin-resistant Hep G2(IR-Hep G2)cells were prepared using palmitic acid and used for in vitro experiments.IR-Hep G2 cells were treated with celastrol alone or in combination with Nacetylcysteine(NAC)or ferrostatin-1(Fer-1)for 12,24 or 48 h,at a range of doses.Cell counting kit-8assay,Western blotting,quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction,glucose consumption assessment,and flow cytometry were performed to measure celastrol’s cytotoxicity and whether the cell death was linked to ferroptosis.Results:Celastrol treatment increased lipid oxidation and decreased expression of anti-ferroptosis proteins in IR-Hep G2 cells.Celastrol downregulated glutathione peroxidase 4(GPX4)m RNA.Molecular docking models predicted that solute carrier family 7 member 11(SLC7A11)and GPX4 were covalently bound by celastrol.Importantly,we found for the first time that the application of ferroptosis inhibitors(especially NAC)was able to reduce celastrol’s toxicity while preserving its ability to improve insulin sensitivity in IR-Hep G2 cells.Conclusion:One potential mechanism of celastrol’s cytotoxicity is the induction of ferroptosis,which can be alleviated by treatment with ferroptosis inhibitors.These findings provide a new strategy to block celastrol’s toxicity while preserving its therapeutic effects.

The ionic environment of body fluids influences nervous functions for maintaining homeostasis in organisms and ensures normal perceptual abilities and reflex activities.Neural reflex activities,such as limb movements,are closely associated with potassium ions(K+).In this study,we developed artificial synaptic devices based on ion concentration-adjustable gels for emulating various synaptic plasticities under different K+concentrations in body fluids.In addition to performing essential synaptic functions,potential applications in information processing and associative learning using short-and long-term plasticity realized using ion concentration-adjustable gels are presented.Artificial synaptic devices can be used for constructing an artificial neural pathway that controls artificial muscle reflex activities and can be used for image pattern recognition.All tests show a strong relationship with ion homeostasis.These devices could be applied to neuromorphic robots and human-machine interfaces.

Objective: To investigate the potential role of Tongxinluo(TXL) in attenuating myocardial fibrosis after myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury(MIRI) in mice. Methods: A MIRI mouse model was established by left anterior descending coronary artery ligation for 45 min. According to a random number table, 66 mice were randomly divided into 6 groups(n=11 per group): the sham group, the model group, the LY-294002 group, the TXL group, the TXL+LY-294002 group and the benazepril(BNPL) group. The day after modeling, TXL and BNPL were administered by gavage. Intraperitoneal injection of LY-294002 was performed twice a week for 4 consecutive weeks. Echocardiography was used to measure cardiac function in mice. Masson staining was used to evaluate the degree of myocardial fibrosis in mice. Qualitative and quantitative analysis of endothelial mesenchymal transition(EndMT) after MIRI was performed by immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence staining and flow cytometry, respectively. The protein expressions of platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule-1(CD31), α-smoth muscle actin(α-SMA), phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase(PI3K) and phospho protein kinase B(p-AKT) were assessed using Western blot. Results: TXL improved cardiac function in MIRI mice, reduced the degree of myocardial fibrosis, increased the expression of CD31 and inhibited the expression of α-SMA, thus inhibited the occurrence of EndMT(P0.05). In addition, the use of the PI3K/AKT pathway-specific inhibitor LY-294002 to block this pathway and combination with TXL intervention, eliminated the protective effect of TXL, further supporting the protective effect of TXL. Conclusion: TXL activated the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway to inhibit EndMT and attenuated myocardial fibrosis after MIRI in mice.

Objective:This study was designed to evaluate the feasibility,efficacy,and safety of percutaneous ureteroscopy laser unroofing as an ambulatory surgery for symptomatic simple renal cysts under multilevel paravertebral nerve block anesthesia.Methods:From December 2015 to September 2017,33 simple renal cyst patients who had surgical indications were enrolled.Under ultrasound guidance,the T10/T11,T11/T12,and T12/L1 paravertebral spaces were identified,and 7-10 mL 0.5%ropivacaine was injected at each segment.Then a puncture needle was placed inside the cyst cavity under ultrasonic monitoring.A guidewire was introduced followed by sequential dilation up to 28/30 Fr.The extra parenchymal portion of the cyst wall was dissociated and incised using a thulium laser,and a pathological examination was performed.Results:Sensory loss to pinprick from T8 to L1 and sensory loss to ice from T6 to L2 were observed in all patients.None of the patients complained of pain during surgery.No serious complications occurred perioperatively.After the surgery,all patients recovered their lower limb muscle strength quickly,got out of bed,resumed oral feeding,and left the hospital within 24 h of admission.The pathologic diagnosis of all cyst walls was a simple renal cyst.The mean follow-up was 35.8 months.At the end of follow-up,the cyst units were reduced in size by more than 50%compared to the preoperative size,and no patient experienced a recurrence.Conclusion:Multi-level paravertebral nerve block for percutaneous ureteroscopy laser unroofing as an ambulatory surgery mode is feasible,safe,and effective for the treatment of simple renal cysts in selected patients.

Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome(SFTS)caused by the SFTS virus(SFTSV)is an emerging disease in East Asia with a fatality rate of up to 30%.However,the viral-host interaction of SFTSV remains largely unknown.The heat-shock protein 90(Hsp90)family consists of highly conserved chaperones that fold and remodel proteins and has a broad impact on the infection of many viruses.Here,we showed that Hsp90 is an important host factor involved in SFTSV infection.Hsp90 inhibitors significantly reduced SFTSV replication,viral protein expression,and the formation of inclusion bodies consisting of nonstructural proteins(NSs).Among viral proteins,NSs appeared to be the most reduced when Hsp90 inhibitors were used,and further analysis showed that their translation was affected.Co-immunoprecipitation of NSs with four isomers of Hsp90 showed that Hsp90βspecifically interacted with them.Knockdown of Hsp90βexpression also inhibited replication of SFTSV.These results suggest that Hsp90βplays a critical role during SFTSV infection and could be a potential target for the development of drugs against SFTS.

Polyethylene oxide(PEO)-based solid polymer electrolytes(SPEs)with good electrochemical stability and excellent Li salt solubility are considered as one of the most promising SPEs for solid-state lithium metal batteries(SSLMBs).However,PEO-based SPEs suffer from low ionic conductivity at room temperature and high interfacial resistance with the electrodes due to poor interfacial contact,seriously hindering their practical applications.As an emerging technology,in-situ polymerization process has been widely used in PEO-based SPEs because it can effectively increase Li-ion transport at the interface and improve the interfacial contact between the electrolyte and electrodes.Herein,we review recent advances in design and fabrication of in-situ polymerized PEO-based SPEs to realize enhanced performance in LMBs.The merits and current challenges of various SPEs,as well as their stabilizing strategies are presented.Furthermore,various in-situ polymerization methods(such as free radical polymerization,cationic polymerization,anionic polymerization)for the preparation of PEO-based SPEs are summarized.In addition,the application of in-situ polymerization technology in PEO-based SPEs for adjustment of the functional units and addition of different functional filler materials was systematically discussed to explore the design concepts,methods and working mechanisms.Finally,the challenges and future prospects of in-situ polymerized PEO-based SPEs for SSLMBs are also proposed.

AIM:To investigate macular microperimetry in patients with early primary open angle glaucoma(POAG)using a new custom-made pattern,and analyze the characteristics of macular sensitivity.METHODS:This case-control study included 38 patients with POAG,who were divided into pre-perimetric glaucoma(18 eyes of 18 patients),early-stage(20 eyes of 20 patients),and control(20 eyes of 20 patients)groups.All subjects underwent standard 24-2 humphrey visual field test.An MP-3 microperimeter with a new custom-made pattern(28 testing points distributed in four quadrants,covering the central 10°of the retina)was used to evaluate macular sensitivity.Ganglion cell complex(GCC)thicknesses were examined using an RS-3000 Advance OCT system.The features of structure and function were analysed per quadrant.RESULTS:The pre-perimetric glaucoma group had significantly lower inferior hemifield macular sensitivity compared to controls(PluSION:Microperimetry reveals variations in macular sensitivity in patients with early glaucoma earlier than conventional perimetry,particularly in pre-perimetric glaucoma cases in which it might be undetectable by conventional methods.The new custom-made pattern may improve th

Waste polyolefin plastics, accounting for 50% of all plastic waste, represent a tremendously unexploited carbon source. Efficiently upcycling polyolefin waste into value-added carbon materials for waste water treatment avoiding using noble metals is challenging but economically and environmentally sustainable. In this work, MAX-Ti_(3)AlC_(2) supported Fe selectively catalyzes polyolefin into few-layered graphene in 5 min under microwave treatment. Graphene and MAX supported Fe(Fe@MLC) can completely(99.9%)degrade chloramphenicol(CAP) within 60 min, retain robust after 10 cycles and work efficiently at a wide p H range(3.87–13.03), avoiding the usage of noble metal. Moreover, the electrochemical active surface area(ECSA) of Fe@MLC is 2.7 times higher than that of commercial Pt/C. This work provides a cheap and efficient catalyst that promotes deconstruction of plastic wastes and indirectly degrades antibiotics thereby realizes the treatment of waste water with waste plastic.
