Multi-scale persistent spatiotemporal transformer for long-term urban traffic flow prediction

Long-term urban traffic flow prediction is an important task in the field of intelligent transportation,as it can help optimize traffic management and improve travel *** improve prediction accuracy,a crucial issue is how to model spatiotemporal dependency in urban traffic *** recent years,many studies have adopted spatiotemporal neural networks to extract key information from traffic ***,most models ignore the semantic spatial similarity between long-distance areas when mining spatial *** also ignore the impact of predicted time steps on the next unpredicted time step for making long-term ***,these models lack a comprehensive data embedding process to represent complex spatiotemporal *** paper proposes a multi-scale persistent spatiotemporal transformer(MSPSTT)model to perform accurate long-term traffic flow prediction in *** adopts an encoder-decoder structure and incorporates temporal,periodic,and spatial features to fully embed urban traffic data to address these *** model consists of a spatiotemporal encoder and a spatiotemporal decoder,which rely on temporal,geospatial,and semantic space multi-head attention modules to dynamically extract temporal,geospatial,and semantic *** spatiotemporal decoder combines the context information provided by the encoder,integrates the predicted time step information,and is iteratively updated to learn the correlation between different time steps in the broader time range to improve the model’s accuracy for long-term *** on four public transportation datasets demonstrate that MSPSTT outperforms the existing models by up to 9.5%on three common metrics.

Contrasting Response Patterns of Rice Phyllosphere Bacterial Taxa to Elevated CO_2

A vast number of microorganisms colonize the leaf surface of terrestrial plants, known as the phyllosphere, and these microorganisms are thought to be of critical importance in plant growth and health. However, the taxonomic identities and ecological functions of the microorganisms inhabiting the rice phyllosphere remain poorly understood. Using a massive, parallel pyrosequencing technique, we identified the phyllosphere bacterial taxa of four different rice varieties and investigated the microbial response to elevated CO2 （eCO2） in a rice field of a free-air CO2 enrichment （FACE） facility located in jiangsu Province, China. The results showed that the dominant phylotype, the Enterobacteriaceae family of Gammaproteobacteria~ accounted for 70.6%-93.8% of the total bacterial communities in the rice phyllosphere. The dominant phylotype was stimulated by eCO2, with its relative abundance increasing from 70.6%-75.2% at ambient CO2 （aCO2） to 86.5%-93.8% at eCO2 in the phyllosphere of rice varieties IIYou084 （TY-084）, YangLiangYou6 （YLY-6）, and ZhenXian96 （ZX-96）. The rare phylotypes, including the bacterial taxa of Sphingobacteriaceae, Xanthomonadaceae, Oxalobacteraceae, Clostridiaceae, and Pseudomonadaceae, were suppressed and their relative abundance decreased from 13.4%-23.0% at aCO2 to 1.47% 6.11% at eGO2. Furthermore, the bacterial diversity indices decreased at eCO2 in the phyllosphere of the rice varieties TY-084, YLY-6, and ZX-96. In contrast, an opposite response pattern was observed for the rice variety of YangDao8 （YD-8）. In the phyllosphere of this variety, the relative abundance of the dominant phylotype, Enterobacteriaceae, decreased from 94.1% at aCO2 to 81.4% at eCO2, while that of the rare phylotypes increased from 3.37% to 6.59%. In addition, eCO2 appeared to stimulate bacterial diversity in the rice variety YD-8. Our results suggest that the phyllosphere microbial response to eCO2 might be relative abundance-dependent in paddy fields.

Bayesian inference of neutron-skin thickness and neutron-star observables based on effective nuclear interactions

We have obtained the constraints on the density dependence of the symmetry energy from neutron-skin thickness data by parityviolating electron scatterings and neutron-star observables using a Bayesian approach,based on the standard Skyrme-HartreeFock(SHF)model and its extension as well as the relativistic mean-field(RMF)*** the neutron-skin thickness data(neutron-star observables)mostly constrain the symmetry energy at subsaturation(suprasaturation)densities,they may more or less constrain the behavior of the symmetry energy at suprasaturation(subsaturation)densities,depending on the energy-density functional *** showing the final posterior density dependence of the symmetry energy,we also compare the slope parameters of the symmetry energy at 0.10 fm-3as well as the values of the symmetry energy at twice saturation density from three effective nuclear *** present work serves as a comparison study based on relativistic and non-relativistic energy-density functionals,for constraining the nuclear symmetry energy from low to high densities using a Bayesian approach.

New method for multibody dynamics based on unknown constraint force

This paper presents a new method for the dynamics of multibody systems based on unknown constraint force. The method can uniformly solve multibody systems with typical configurations, including the system with rigid-flexible coupling, the system in tree topology, and the system with loop constraints. Unlike common methods, the proposed method can model the loop system without “cutting off” loop constraints, leading to the exact same modelling process as the tree-like system performs. Based on graph theory, a topological record matrix M_(rec) is proposed to capture the arbitrary system configuration. Moreover, constraint forces are selected as the key variables in semi-recursive framework. With the recursive kinematics relationship between adjacent bodies, the constraint force equation is further assembled to achieve the full-state system solution. The numerical simulations demonstrate the accuracy of the proposed method.

Microbial Community Changes Along a Land-Use Gradient of Desert Soil Origin

Soil harbors remarkably stabilize bacterial communities at the phylum level. However, no two soils have exactly the same structure of bacterial phyla. The structure of microbial community is strongly influenced by the type of land-use through changes in soil attributes. Using high-throughput pyrosequencing and quantitative polymerase chain reaction techniques, soil microbial community structures were investigated along a land-use gradient of 100- and 27-year farmlands, a 33-year Pinus forest, a 28-year poplar forest, and a 21-year shrubland, as well as a native desert from which all cultivated systems were converted. The results revealed that the dominant phylotypes in the native soil comprised primarily of Alphaproteobacteria, Actinobacteria, Bacteroidetes, and Firmicutes, accounting for 〉 71.4% of the total bacterial 16S rRNA sequence reads. Changes in land-use led to a significant decrease in these dominant phylotypes down to 33.4%. In contrast, the phylotypes with low abundance, such as Acidobaeteria, Chloroflexi, Nitrospira, and Gammaproteobaeteria, increased sharply from 4.5%-5.9% in the native soil to 20.9% 30.2% of the total 16S rRNA gene sequences in the cultivated soils except for the soil from the shrubland. These contrasting changes in the major taxa appear to be correlated with the changes in soil attributes. For instance, bacterial and archaeal amoA genes were found to be 960- and 3 800-fold more abundant in the soil from the 100-year farmland than the native soil. The changes in numerically less dominant nitrifying phylotypes are consistent with soil inorganic nitrogen dynamics. Quantification of the 16S rRNA genes demonstrated that bacteria and archaea were about two to three orders of magnitude more abundant in the cultivated soil than in the native soil. Hence, land-use type affects the soil bacterial community structure, which has profound consequences on ecosystem function.
