We report the discovery of a peculiar X-ray transient,EP240408a,by Einstein Probe （EP） and follow-up studies made with EP,Swift,NICER,GROND,ATCA and other ground-based multiwavelength *** new transient was first detected with Wide-field X-ray Telescope （WXT） on board EP on April 8th,2024,manifested in an intense yet brief X-ray flare lasting for *** flare reached a peak flux of 3.9×10-9erg cm-2s-1in 0.5-4 ke V,～300 times brighter than the underlying X-ray emission detected throughout the *** and more precise follow-up observations by EP/FXT,Swift and NICER confirmed the finding of this new *** X-ray spectrum is non-thermal in 0.5-10 ke V,with a power-law photon index varying *** X-ray light curve shows a plateau lasting for ～4 d,followed by a steep decay till becoming undetectable ～10 d after the initial *** on its temporal property and constraints from previous EP observations,an unusual timescale in the range of 7-23 d is found for EP240408a,which is intermediate between the commonly found fast and long-term *** counterparts have been found in optical and near-infrared,with the earliest observation at 17 h after the initial X-ray detection,suggestive of intrinsically weak emission in these *** demonstrate that the remarkable properties of EP240408a are inconsistent with any of the transient types known so far,by comparison with,in particular,jetted tidal disruption events,gamma-ray bursts,X-ray binaries and fast blue optical *** nature of EP240408a thus remains an *** suggest that EP240408a may represent a new type of transients with intermediate timescales of the order of～10 *** detection and follow-ups of more of such objects are essential for revealing their origin.

Hydraulic hybrid vehicles （HHV） with secondary regulation technology has the potential of improving fuel economy by operating the engine in the optimum efficiency range and making use of regenerative braking. Hydrostatic transmission technology has the advantage of higher power density and the ability to accept the high rates and high frequencies of charging and discharging, both of which are not favorable for batteries, but the lower energy density requires special power matching design and control strategy to coordinate all the powertrain components in an optimal manner. A multi-objective optimization method is proposed to distinguish the components size values of HHV by considering the requirements of driving cycles and technology aspects. The regenerative braking strategy and energy control strategy based on the optimized HHV is proposed to recovery the braking energy and distribute the regenerated braking energy. Simulation results show that by taking the optimized configuration of HHV, adopting the regenerative braking strategy and energy control strategy are helpful to improve the system efficiency and fuel economy of HHV under urban driving cycles.

Concrete experiences expansive deformation during sulfate attack due to internal expansive stress. Sulfate ions enter concrete pores, react with the pore solution, and produce ettringite. The production of ettringite explains the internal expansive stress that reduces the durability of concrete. In this study, the model of internal expansive stress was achieved through the Eshelby＇s theory, as well as the experimental results for concrete erosion. Numerical simulation indicated that internal expansive stress is not only determined by the water-to-cement ratio of concrete and the concentration of sulfate solution, but also affected by the relaxation time of concrete.

Proteins are excellent templates and stabilizers for Au nanoclusters （NCs） because of their abundant thiol groups and unique internal environments. However, high-molecular weight （MW） proteins with special quaternary structures are rarely reported as such templates. Considering that proteins may afford different spatial configurations as templates for Au NCs, we focused on alkaline phosphatase, catalase, and fibrinogen （MW range from 150 to 340 kDa） as direct templates for synthesizing Au NCs. We demonstrated that both Cu2~ and Hg2~ could induce photoluminescence （PL） quenching of these Au NCs, while their binding mech- anisms were different. Therefore, significant PL recovery by amino acids, e.g., histidine and cysteine, was observed for Cu2＋-treated Au NCs, but not Hg2＋-treated Au NCs, allowing for selective detection of Hg2＋ by using histidine as a masking agent. The detection ranges were 0.06-2.0 DM for Hg2＋ and 0.04-5.0 DM for Cu2＋, with low limits of detection of 0.02 and 0.01μM, respectively. The PL change showed opposite tendency for histidine and cysteine at higher concentrations, resulting in different PL outputs. Using dual metal ion and dual amino acid combinations, an integrated PL logic gate was fabricated. This work improves the understanding of the PL mechanisms of complicated protein-localized Au NCs.

With the rapid increase of lubricant consumption, oil contamination becomes more serious. Biotreatment is an important method to remove oil contamination with some advantages. In this study, acclimatized oil- contaminated soil and used lubricating oil were sampled to isolate lubricant-degrading strains by several methods. 51 isolates were obtained and 24-well plates were employed to assess bacterial potential in high- throughput screening. The method was noted for the prominence of oil-water two-phase system with saving chemicals, shortening cycles and lessening workloads. In order to decrease inaccuracy, subculture and resting cells were inoculated into mineral salt medium with 200 μ1 oil in well plates for the cultivation at 37 ℃ for 5 and 7 days, and the biodegradation potential was characterized by the changes of oil film and cell density. With appropriate evaluation by shaking flask tests, 5 isolates were retained for their potentials with the maxi- mum biodegradation from 1500 to 2200 mg· L-1 and identified as Acidovorax dtrulli, Pseudomonos balearica, Adnetobacterjohnsonii （two isolates with different biodegradation potentials） and Addovorax avenae using 16S rRNA sequencing analysis. Also, lipase activity was determined using indicator titration and p-nitrophenyl palmitate （p-NPP） methods. The results indicated that only p-NPP was successful to test lipase activity with the range of 1.93-6.29 mg· L-1 Although these five strains could degrade 1000 mg· L-1 lubricating oil in 158-168 h, there existed distinct difference in enzyme activity, which demonstrates that lipase activity could not be used as the criterion to evaluate microbial biodegradation potential for petroleum hydrocarbons.

A New Approach for Vegetation Change Detection in Urban Areas

Because of complex change in urban areas, modified CVA application based on mask techniques can minify the effect of non-vegetation changes and improve upon efficiency to a great extent. Moreover, drawing from methods in polar plots, the technique measures changes with absolute angular and total magnitude of PVI calculated on the basis of linear fit with least-square estimation and GVI calculated using 3D G-S transformation. Finally, this application is performed with Landsat ETM+ imageries of Wuhan in 2002 and 2005, and assessed by error matrix, in the way it could detect change pixels 94.91% correct, and the total consistent coefficient Kappa could reach to 0.85. The evaluation result demonstrates this new application trends as an efficient and effective alternative to urban vegetation change extraction.
