Effect of erythropoietin combined with hypothermia on serum tau protein levels and neurodevelopmental outcome in neonates with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy

Although hypothermia therapy is effective to treat neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy,many neonatal patients die or suffer from severe neurological *** is considered one of the most promising neuroprotective *** hypothesized that erythropoietin combined with hypothermia will improve efficacy of neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy *** this study,41 neonates with moderate/severe hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy were randomly divided into a control group（hypothermia alone for 72 hours,n = 20） and erythropoietin group（hypothermia ＋ erythropoietin 200 IU/kg for 10 days,n = 21）.Our results show that compared with the control group,serum tau protein levels were lower and neonatal behavioral neurological assessment scores higher in the erythropoietin group at 8 and 12 ***,neurodevelopmental outcome was similar between the two groups at 9 months of *** findings suggest that erythropoietin combined with hypothermia reduces serum tau protein levels and improves neonatal behavioral neurology outcome but does not affect long-term neurodevelopmental outcome.

Crohn’s disease (CD) is a systemic illness with a constellation of extraintestinal manifestations affecting various organs. Of these extraintestinal manifestations of CD, those involving the lung are relatively rare. However, there is a wide array of lung manifestations, ranging from subclinical alterations, airway diseases and lung parenchymal diseases to pleural diseases and drug-related diseases. The most frequent manifestation is bronchial inflammation and suppuration with or without bronchiectasis. Bronchoalveolar lavage findings show an increased percentage of neutrophils. Drug-related pulmonary abnormalities include disorders which are directly induced by sulfasalazine, mesalamine and methotrexate, and opportunistic lung infections due to immunosuppressive treatment. In most patients, the development of pulmonary disease parallels that of intestinal disease activity. Although infrequent, clinicians dealing with CD must be aware of these, sometimes life-threatening, conditions to avoid further impairment of health status and to alleviate patient symptoms by prompt recognition and treatment. The treatment of CD-related respiratory disorders depends on the specific pattern of involvement, and in most patients, steroids are required in the initial management.

NiFe layered double hydroxides(NiFe LDHs)have been intensively developed for the oxygen evolution reaction(OER)in alkaline media;however,their unsatisfactory hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)performance limits their practical application in overall water ***,a simple and efficient one-step electrodeposition method is used to accomplish in situ growth of NiFe LDHsNiFe alloy gradient hybrid coatings on a carbon cloth(CC).Within the binder-free electrode,NiFe LDHs nanosheets with a low-crystalline nature exhibit highly active bifunctional OER/HER activities,and the NiFe alloy acts as a stable electron highway and strong skeleton bridge between NiFe LDHs and the *** the electrodes are simultaneously employed as the cathode and anode for overall water splitting,they require low cell potentials of 1.441 V at10 mA·cm^(-2)and 1.703 V at 100 mA·cm^(-2),respectively,and they demonstrate outstanding stability at a current density greater than 100 mA·cm^(-2)for more than 100 *** is one of the best bifunctional OER and HER catalysts for overall water *** lattice defects and surface reconstructions crucially contribute to the bifunctional OER/HER activities of NiFe *** simple and scalable synthesis approach presents an intriguing paradigm for industrial production,and the fabricated electrode has potential application in high-current-density water splitting.

Owing to the significant potential of alkalin seawater electrolysis for converting surplus power into eco friendly hydrogen fuel,we developed bifunctional elec trodes that integrate low-crystalline NiFe LDHs and amorphous NiFe alloy on a Ni foam(NF)substrate to enhance this *** by the battery-like charac teristics of NiFe LDHs,an anti-corrosive and active oute layer of NiFe^(vac)OOH continuously forms over time in th hybrid on the anode for the oxygen evolution reaction(OER),effectively mitigating powder shedding caused by corrosion induced by multiple anions in *** while,the strong bond between the hybrid and the NF substrate maintains intact hybrid coatings to ensure a rel atively high overall conductivity of the electrodes,signif icantly reducing the negative effects of structura degradation during the OER and hydrogen evolution reaction(HER),as well as the accumulation of contami nants on the electrode *** long-term tests,thes bifunctionalhybridelectrodesmaintained stable performance,even at a high current density o500 mA·cm^(-2).The cell voltage increased by only 88 m V over 1000 h to 1.970 V during saline electrolysis and by103 mV over 500 h to 2.062 V during seawater electroly ***,this study provides valuable insights into efficient and stable seawater electrolysis using NiFe LDHs–NiFe alloy hybrids.

AIM To explore the differences in the responses of left-sided colorectal cancer(LSCRC) and right-sided colon cancer(RSCC) to traditional Chinese medicine(TCM).METHODS Patients with postoperative stage I-III colorectal cancer(CRC) were enrolled and divided into the LSCRC with or without TCM and RSCC with or without TCM groups depending on the primary tumor side and TCM administration. Patients in the TCM group were given TCM for at least 6 mo. Our research adopted diseasefree survival(DFS) as the primary endpoint. We applied a Cox proportional hazards regression model for the multivariate factor analysis using Stata 12.0 and SPSS 22.0 software for data *** Of the 817 patients included in our study, 617 had LSCRC(TCM group, n = 404; Non-TCM group, n = 213), and 200 had RSCC(TCM group, n = 132; NonTCM group, n = 68). The 6-year DFS for patients with LSCRC was 56.95% in the TCM group and 41.50% in the Non-TCM group(P = 0.000). For patients with RSCC, the 6-year DFS was 52.92% in the TCM group and 37.19% in the Non-TCM group(P = 0.003). Differences between LSCRC and RSCC were not statistically significant regardless of TCM *** Patients with either LSCRC or RSCC and who took TCM experienced longer DFS; furthermore, patients with RSCC benefited more from TCM in DFS.

A good quality(5 at.%Yb:GdScO_(3))single crystal of F30 mm37 mm was grown successfully by the Czochralski *** structure is studied by the x-ray diffraction(XRD),and its atomic coordinates are obtained by Rietveld *** crystal field energy level splitting of Yb^(3+)in GdScO_(3) is determined by employing the absorption and photoluminescence spectra at 8 *** ^(2)F_(7/2)(4)is far from the ground state ^(2)F_(7/2)(1)by 710 cm-1 among the crystal field energy levels split from ^(2)F_(7/2),so it is more easier to realize the laser operation of ^(2)F5/2(1)^(2)F_(7/2)(4)with wavelength 1060 *** spin–orbit coupling parameters and intrinsic crystal field parameters(CFPs).The intrinsic crystal field parameters¯B k(k=2,4,6)of the crystal were fitted by the superposition *** CFPs evaluated with¯Bk and coordination factor are taken as the initial parameters to fit the crystal field energy levels of the crystal,and the crystal field parameters Bk q are obtained finally with the root-mean-square deviation 9 *** is suggested that the ligand point charge,covalency and overlap interaction are slightly weaker than charge interpenetration and coulomb exchange interaction for Yb^(3+)in GdScO_(3).The obtained Hamiltonian parameters can be used to calculate crystal field energy levels and wave functions of Yb:GdScO_(3) to analyze the mechanism of the luminescence or laser.

Objective To investigate the bioeffects of extremely low frequency （ELF） magnetic field （MF）（50 Hz, 400 μT） and magnetic nanoparticles （MNPs） via cytotoxicity and apoptosis assays on PC12 cells. Methods MNPs modified by SiO2 （MNP-SiO2） were characterized by transmission electron microscopy （TEM）, dynamic light scattering and hysteresis loop measurement. PC12 cells were administrated with MNP-SiO2 with or without MF exposure for 48 h. Cytotoxicity and apoptosis were evaluated with MTI- assay and annexin V-FITC/PI staining, respectively. The morphology and uptake of MNP-SiO2 were determined by TEM. MF simulation was performed by Ansoft Maxwell based on the finite element method. Results MNP-SiO2 were identified as -20 nm （diameter） ferromagnetic particles. MNP-SiO2 reduced cell viability in a dose-dependent manner. MF also reduced cell viability with increasing concentrations of MNP-SiO2. MNP-SiO2 alone did not cause apoptosis in PC12 cells; instead, the proportion of apoptotic cells increased significantly under MF exposure and increasing doses of MNP-SiO2. MNP-SiO2 could be ingested and then cause a slight change in cell morphology. Conclusion Combined exposure of MF and MNP-SiO2 resulted in remarkable cytotoxicity and increased apoptosis in PC12 cells. The results suggested that MF exposure could strengthen the MF of MNPs, which may enhance the bioeffects of ELF MF.

Background Alteration in the protein composition of high-density lipoprotein （HDL） has been proposed as a mechanism for the development of coronary heart disease （CHD）.In HDL,an increase in serum amyloid A protein （SAA） accompanying the decrease in apolipoprotein A-I （apoA-I） has been found during the acute inflammation ***,whether this phenomenon persists in CHD patients,a disease related to inflammation,is *** purpose of the present study was to explore the relationship between SAA and apoA-I in HDL isolated from CHD *** Overall,98 patients with confirmed stable CHD and 90 control subjects matched for age and gender were enrolled in this case-control *** bromide （KBr） density gradient ultracentrifugation was used to isolate HDL from *** levels of SAA and apoA-I in the HDL samples were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay ***＇s correlation and general linear models were used in the *** Compared with controls,patients with CHD had a significant decrease in the amount of apoA-I （（14.21±8.44） μg/ml vs.（10.95±5.95） μg/ml,P =0.003） in HDL and a significant increase in the amount of log SAA （1.21±0.46 vs.1.51±0.55,P 〈0.00001）.Differences were independent of age,body mass index （BMI）,HDL cholesterol （HDL-C）,and other *** independently and statistically significant positive correlation between log SAA and apoA-I in HDL was observed only in the CHD group （β =2.0,P =0.026）.In the general linear model,changes in Iog（SAA）,age,age2,gender,BMI and HDL-C could explain a statistically significant 43% of the variance in *** This study provides direct evidence for the first time that there was an independent positive correlation between log SAA and apoA-I in the HDL of CHD patients,indicating the alteration of protein composition in ***,the question of whether this alteration in HDL is associated with impairment of HDL functions requires further research.
