Background Biliary atresia(BA)is a rare fatal liver disease in children,and the aim of this study was to develop a method to diagnose BA *** We determined serum levels of matrix metalloproteinase-7(MMP-7),the results of 13 liver tests,and the levels of 20 bile acids,and integrated computational models were constructed to diagnose *** Our findings demonstrated that MMP-7 expression levels,as well as the results of four liver tests and levels of ten bile acids,were significantly different between 86 BA and 59 non-BA patients(P<0.05).The computational prediction model revealed that MMP-7 levels alone had a higher predictive accuracy[area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC)=0.966,95%confidence interval(CI):0.942,0.989]than liver test results and bile acid *** AUC was 0.890(95%CI 0.837,0.943)for liver test results and 0.825(95%CI 0.758,0.892)for bile acid ***,bile levels had a higher contribution to enhancing the predictive accuracy of MMP-7 levels(AUC=0.976,95%CI 0.953,1.000)than liver test *** AUC was 0.983(95%CI 0.962,1.000)for MMP-7 levels combined with liver test results and bile acid *** addition,we found that MMP-7 levels were highly correlated with gamma-glutamyl transferase levels and the liver fibrosis *** The innovative integrated models based on a large number of indicators provide a noninvasive and cost-effective approach for accurately diagnosing BA in children.

Inner edge state with spin and valley degrees of freedom is a promising candidate for designing a dissipationless device due to the topological protection. The central challenge for the application of the inner edge state is to generate and modulate the polarized currents. In this work, we discover a new mechanism to generate fully valley-and spin–valley-polarized current caused by the Bloch wavevector mismatch(BWM). Based on this mechanism, we design some serial-typed inner-edge filters. By using once of the BWM, the coincident states could be divided into transmitted and reflected modes, which can serve as a valley or spin–valley filter. In particular, while with twice of the BWM, the incident current is absolutely reflected to support an off state with a specified valley and spin, which is different from the gap *** findings give rise to a new platform for designing valleytronics and spin-valleytronics.

N,N,N′,N′-Tetraoctyl diglycolamide(TODGA)is one of the most promising extractants tailored for high-level liquid radioactive waste treatment during nuclear fuel ***γ-radiolysis of TODGA(0.2 mol/L)in n-dodecane(n DD)solution with and without pre-equilibrated 3.0 mol/L HNO_(3)was investigated using HPLC and UPLC-QTOF-MS and compared with theγ-radiolysis of neat TODGA in this *** increased absorbed doses,the concentration of TODGA decreased exponentially for the studied ***,pre-equilibration with HNO_(3)(3.0 mol/L)slightly influenced theγ-radiolysis of TODGA in n *** radiolytic products generated from the rupture of the C–C,C–O,and C–N bonds in TODGA were identified in the studied extraction *** influence ofγ-radiation on TODGA/n DD for the extraction of Eu(Ⅲ)was evaluated using the first combination of extraction experiments and density functional theory(DFT)calculations,in which the complexations of Eu(Ⅲ)with TODGA and its radiolytic products were systematically *** on the radiolysis kinetic model of TODGA,the slope curve of the distribution ratio of Eu(Ⅲ)(D_(Eu))and the absorbed dose,and fluorescence titration analysis,the empirical equation of the absorbed dose and D_(Eu)was obtained *** 300 kGy,the experimental D_(Eu)agreed well with the obtained empirical equation for TODGA/n ***,at a high absorbed dose,the experimental D_(Eu)was higher than the theoretical D_(Eu)based on the empirical equation because the radiolytic products of TODGA with similar coordination structures still possessed partial complexation toward Eu(Ⅲ),which was confirmed by DFT *** work provides a method to predict the extraction distribution ratio of an irradiated extractant system and to understand the complex extraction process.

Despite the precise controllability of droplet samples in digital microfluidic(DMF)systems,their capability in isolating single cells for long-time culture is still limited:typically,only a few cells can be captured on an *** fabricating small-sized hydrophilic micropatches on an electrode aids single-cell capture,the actuation voltage for droplet transportation has to be significantly raised,resulting in a shorter lifetime for the DMF chip and a larger risk of damaging the *** this work,a DMF system with 3D microstructures engineered on-chip is proposed to form semi-closed micro-wells for efficient single-cell isolation and long-time *** optimum results showed that approximately 20%of the micro-wells over a 30×30 array were occupied by isolated single *** addition,low-evaporation-temperature oil and surfactant aided the system in achieving a low droplet actuation voltage of 36V,which was 4 times lower than the typical 150 V,minimizing the potential damage to the cells in the droplets and to the DMF *** exemplify the technological advances,drug sensitivity tests were run in our DMF system to investigate the cell response of breast cancer cells(MDA-MB-231)and breast normal cells(MCF-10A)to a widely used chemotherapeutic drug,Cisplatin(Cis).The results on-chip were consistent with those screened in conventional 96-well *** novel,simple and robust single-cell trapping method has great potential in biological research at the single cell level.

The embankment of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway(QTR)has been experiencing severe problems due to permafrost degradation,especially in warm and ice-rich permafrost *** on ground temperature and deformation data of the embankment at location K1497+150 of the QTR in 2006-2018,the thermal regime and deformation process were *** results showed that 1)the degradation rate of permafrost under the embankment was faster than that under the natural site without engineering construction,and 2)the deformation rate of the embankment had exceeded the safety range for the QTR embankment before adopting mitigative *** addition,this study evaluated the cooling effect on the underlying permafrost and working mechanism of two strengthening *** measures,crushed rock revetment(CRR)and thermosyphons,were adopted to protect the underlying permafrost from continual *** individual cooling effect of the CRR was not as good as that of the ***,the combination of the two could enhance the protective effects of each on the underlying permafrost,effectively cooling the permafrost and improving the stability of the embankment.

This study aimed to analyze the prevalence of bacterial, Candida, Trichomonas, and human papillomavirus （HPV） infections in ThinPrep cytological test （TCT） performed on women of Wuhan, China. ThinPrep smears were screened by two independent experienced pathologists and reported from 2008 to 2010. A total of 46 866 ThinPrep smears were studied, and smears with inflammation were analyzed. Of the 44 162 enrolled patients, inflammation changes were observed in 21 935 （49.7%） and specific infections in 6884 （31.4%）. The infections detected were as follows： bacteria, 5663 （82.3%）; Candida, 825 （12.0%）; Trichomonas, 273 （4.0%）; and HPV, 148 （2.1%）. Significant changes were found in the prevalence of bacteria and Candida among women who underwent TCT before and after 2010. Z2 revealed an increasing proportion of specific infections found in smears after 2010 （P = 0.000）. In conclusion, bacterial infection was the most detectable in the ThinPrep smears, followed by Candida and Trichomonas. The prevalence of infection identified by TCT was found to be similar in previous literature in China.
