Higher palaeoelevation in the Baoshan Basin:Implications for landscape evolution at the southeastern margin of the Tibetan Plateau

Surface uplift at the southeastern margin of the Tibetan Plateau has been widely studied, but more palaeoaltimetry data are required to better understand the elevation history of this geologically complex region. In this study, fossil leaves of Abies(Pinaceae), a cool-temperate element, recovered from the latest Miocene-Pliocene Yangyi Formation of the southern Baoshan Basin, were used as a proxy to estimate the local palaeoelevation. Based on the regional modern altitude range(2100-4280 m) of the genus as well as regional temperature discrepancy(1.5°C) between the past and present, the palaeoelevation of the study area was calculated to be > 2360 m above sea level as compared to 1670 m at present. Our result suggests that the southern Baoshan Basin experienced pronounced uplift prior to the time of fossil deposition, probably as a result of crustal shortening and thickening of the northern Baoshan Terrane during the Eocene-Oligocene. We infer that surface growth in areas south of the Dali Basin may have been greater than previously interpreted,and that a widespread plateau or plateau patches higher than 2000 m probably extended southwards into at least the Baoshan Basin by the latest Miocene-Pliocene. We also infer that the elevation of the southern Baoshan Basin has decreased by at least 690 m since then, in contrast to most other scenarios in which the elevation of the southeastern margin of the Tibetan Plateau has increased or remained close to modern levels since the late Miocene. The major cause of the inferred altitude decline is likely tectonic deformation. As a transtensional graben basin, the Baoshan Basin has experienced pull-apart and base-fall movement since the late Miocene, which would reduce the altitude of its southern part located on the hanging wall. Surface erosion associated with the increased summer rainfall might also have played a role especially in reducing the local relief, although its contribution can be limited. Dietary cooking oils and cardiometabolic measurements in an elderly Chinese population

OBJECTIVE To investigate three features of dietary cooking oil intake,namely,the consumption,cooking style,and composition of fatty acids in relation to several cardiometabolic measurements in an elderly Chinese population.METHODS The elderly(≥65 years)participants for this study were recruited from two community health centers in the urban area of Shanghai.A questionnaire was administered to collect information on dietary oil consumption(low,medium and high)and cooking styles(fry or stir-fry vs.others)and the composition of fatty acids(poly-unsaturated vs.mono-unsaturated).The cardiometabolic measurements included anthropometry,blood pressure,fasting plasma glucose and serum lipids.RESULTS The 1186 study participants had a mean age of 70.9±5.4 years.The mean dietary oil consumption was 35.0 g/d,being low(<25 g/d),medium(25-49 g/d)and high(≥50 g/d)in 485,467 and 234 participants,respectively.The proportion of the fry or stir-fry cooking style and oils rich in mono-unsaturated fatty acids was 30.4%and 27.4%,respectively.Both before and after adjustment for sex,age,current smoking and alcohol intake,dietary oil consumption was significantly(P≤0.02)and positively associated with the prevalence of treated hypertension and fasting plasma glucose concentration.With similar adjustments as above and additional adjustment for dietary oil consumption,the fry or stir-fry cooking style was significantly(P≤0.048)and positively associated with body mass index,but inversely with systolic and diastolic blood pressure and serum low-density lipoprotein cholesterol,and the dietary intake of oils rich in mono-unsaturated fat acids was significantly(P≤0.02)and positively associated with diastolic blood pressure,serum triglycerides,total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol,and the prevalence of hypertriglyceridemia and hypercholesterolemia.CONCLUSIONS This study showed that both the consumption and composition of fatty acids of the dietary oils mattered with regard to several cardiometabolic measurements in an elderly

Exploration and optimization of surgical techniques for laparoscopic transhiatal lower mediastinal lymph node dissection for adenocarcinoma of esophagogastric junction: A prospective IDEAL 2a study with qualitative design

Objective: To explore the change and feasibility of surgical techniques of laparoscopic transhiatal(TH)-lower mediastinal lymph node dissection(LMLND) for adenocarcinoma of the esophagogastric junction(AEG)according to Idea, Development, Exploration, Assessment, and Long-term follow-up(IDEAL) 2a standards.Methods: Patients diagnosed with AEG who underwent laparoscopic TH-LMLND were prospectively included from April 14, 2020, to March 26, 2021. Clinical and pathological information as well as surgical outcomes were quantitatively analyzed. Semistructured interviews with the surgeon after each operation were qualitatively analyzed.Results: Thirty-five patients were included. There were no cases of transition to open surgery, but three cases involved combination with transthoracic surgery. In qualitative analysis, 108 items under three main themes were detected: explosion, dissection, and reconstruction. Revised instruction was subsequently designed according to the change in surgical technique and the cognitive process behind it. Three patients had anastomotic leaks postoperatively, with one classified as Clavien-Dindo Ⅲa.Conclusions: The surgical technique of laparoscopic TH-LMLND is stable and feasible;further IDEAL 2b research is warranted.

High-timing-precision detection of single X-ray photons by superconducting nanowires

Precisely acquiring the timing information of individual X-ray photons is important in both fundamental research and practical applications. The timing precision of commonly used X-ray single-photon detectors remains in the range of one hundred picoseconds to microseconds. In this work, we report on high-timing-precision detection of single X-ray photons through the fast transition to the normal state from the superconductive state of superconducting nanowires. We successfully demonstrate a free-running X-ray single-photon detector with a timing resolution of 20.1 ps made of 100-nm-thick niobium nitride film with an active area of 50 μm by 50 μm. By using a repeated differential timing measurement on two adjacent X-ray single-photon detectors, we demonstrate a precision of 0.87 ps in the arrival-time difference of X-ray photon measurements. Therefore, our work significantly enhances the timing precision in X-ray photon counting, opening a new niche for ultrafast X-ray photonics and many associated applications.

为了揭示滚子凸度和轴承转速对圆柱滚子轴承径向刚度的影响规律,采用隐函数微分方法,建立了考虑滚子凸度和轴承转速的圆柱滚子轴承径向刚度解析模型。分析了滚子凸度、轴承转速、径向游隙、径向载荷等因素对轴承径向刚度的影响规律,并与其他文献方法进行比较,验证了所建立解析模型的正确性。研究结果表明:圆柱滚子轴承径向刚度随滚子凸度、径向游隙的增加而减小,随着轴承转速、径向载荷的增加而增加;随着径向载荷的增大,滚子凸度、轴承转速、径向游隙等因素对轴承径向刚度的影响减弱。

Pulsar search is always the basis of pulsar navigation,gravitational wave detection and other research topics.Currently,the volume of pulsar candidates collected by the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope(FAST)shows an explosive growth rate that has brought challenges for its pulsar candidate filtering system.Particularly,the multi-view heterogeneous data and class imbalance between true pulsars and non-pulsar candidates have negative effects on traditional single-modal supervised classification methods.In this study,a multi-modal and semi-supervised learning based on a pulsar candidate sifting algorithm is presented,which adopts a hybrid ensemble clustering scheme of density-based and partition-based methods combined with a feature-level fusion strategy for input data and a data partition strategy for parallelization.Experiments on both High Time Resolution Universe SurveyⅡ(HTRU2)and actual FAST observation data demonstrate that the proposed algorithm could excellently identify pulsars:On HTRU2,the precision and recall rates of its parallel mode reach0.981 and 0.988 respectively.On FAST data,those of its parallel mode reach 0.891 and 0.961,meanwhile,the running time also significantly decreases with the increment of parallel nodes within limits.Thus,we can conclude that our algorithm could be a feasible idea for large scale pulsar candidate sifting for FAST drift scan observation.

Copper-catalyzed enantioselective desymmetrizing C（sp）–H functionalization of azide-ynamides via α-imino copper carbenes

α-Imino metal carbenes are versatile intermediates in organic synthesis, and have broad applications in the assembly of divergent N-heterocycles. However, the catalytic enantioselective desymmetrization based on α-imino metal carbenes has not been developed to date. Herein, we disclose an enantioselective desymmetrizing C（sp2）–H functionalization of azide-ynamides via α-imino copper carbenes, leading to the efficient assembly of divergent chiral indoloazepines in generally moderate to excellent yields with high enantioselectivities. Notably, this reaction represents the first enantioselective desymmetrization based on α-imino metal carbenes. further synthetic transformations and biological tests show the potential utility of this method. Moreover,computational studies are employed to elucidate the reaction mechanism and the origin of enantioselectivity.
