Nonlinear amplitude inversion using a hybrid quantum genetic algorithm and the exact zoeppritz equation

The amplitude versus offset/angle(AVO/AVA)inversion which recovers elastic properties of subsurface media is an essential tool in oil and gas exploration.In general,the exact Zoeppritz equation has a relatively high accuracy in modelling the reflection coefficients.However,amplitude inversion based on it is highly nonlinear,thus,requires nonlinear inversion techniques like the genetic algorithm(GA)which has been widely applied in seismology.The quantum genetic algorithm(QGA)is a variant of the GA that enjoys the advantages of quantum computing,such as qubits and superposition of states.It,however,suffers from limitations in the areas of convergence rate and escaping local minima.To address these shortcomings,in this study,we propose a hybrid quantum genetic algorithm(HQGA)that combines a self-adaptive rotating strategy,and operations of quantum mutation and catastrophe.While the selfadaptive rotating strategy improves the flexibility and efficiency of a quantum rotating gate,the operations of quantum mutation and catastrophe enhance the local and global search abilities,respectively.Using the exact Zoeppritz equation,the HQGA was applied to both synthetic and field seismic data inversion and the results were compared to those of the GA and QGA.A number of the synthetic tests show that the HQGA requires fewer searches to converge to the global solution and the inversion results have generally higher accuracy.The application to field data reveals a good agreement between the inverted parameters and real logs.

Early identification of process deviation based on convolutional neural network

A novel process monitoring method based on convolutional neural network(CNN)is proposed and applied to detect faults in industrial process.By utilizing the CNN algorithm,cross-correlation and autocorrelation among variables are captured to establish a prediction model for each process variable to approximate the first-principle of physical/chemical relationships among different variables under normal operating conditions.When the process is operated under pre-set operating conditions,prediction residuals can be assumed as noise if a proper model is employed.Once process faults occur,the residuals will increase due to the changes of correlation among variables.A principal component analysis(PCA)model based on the residuals is established to realize process monitoring.By monitoring the changes in main feature of prediction residuals,the faults can be promptly detected.Case studies on a numerical nonlinear example and data from two industrial processes are presented to validate the performance of process monitoring based on CNN.

Numerical simulation of coupling heat transfer and thermal stress for spent fuel dry storage cask with different power distribution and tilt angles

Dry storage containers must be secured and reliable during long-term storage,and the effect of decay heat released from the internal spent fuel on the cask has become an important research topic.In this paper,a 3D computational fluid dynamics model is presented,and the accuracy of the calculation is verified,with computational errors of less than 6.2%.The thermal stress of the dry storage cask was estimated by coupling it with a transient temperature field.The total power remained constant and adjusting the power ratio of the inner and outer zones had a small effect on the stress results,with a maximum equivalent stress of approximately 5.2 kPa,which occurred at the lower edge of the shell.In the case of tilt,the temperature gradient varied in a wavy distribution,and the wave crest moved from right to left.Altering the tilt angle affects the air distribution in the annular gap,leading to the shell temperature being transformed,with a maximum equivalent stress of 202 MPa at the bottom of the shell.However,the equivalent stress in both cases was less than the yield stress(205 MPa).

Bifurcation control of solid angle car-following model through a time-delay feedback method

In order to alleviate unstable factor-caused bifurcation and reduce oscillations in traffic flow,a feedback control with consideration of time delay is designed for the solid angle model(SAM).The stability and bifurcation condition of the new SAM is derived through linear analysis and bifurcation analysis,and then accurate range of stable region is obtained.In order to explore the mechanism of the influence of multiple parameter combinations on the stability of controlled systems,a definite integral stabilization method is provided to determine the stable interval of time delay and feedback gain.Numerical simulations are explored to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed model,which also demonstrate that feedback gain and delay are two key factors to alleviate traffic congestion in the SAM.

Two-dimensional(2D)transition-metal selenides,espe-cially MoSe_(2),is considered to be an excellent alternative electrocatalyst for the hydrogen evolution reaction(HER).However,it still features high overpotential in HER due to the low density of active sites,which limits its practical application.Herein,the hydrogen evolution reaction activity of MoSe_(2)is enhanced by the incorporation of metal-cation,tungsten,which succeeds in taking the place of Mo in the lattice of MoSe_(2),inducing the spacing expansion and bringing new flexural edges to serve as active sites.In addition,the incorporated metal also facil-itates electron transport from Mo active center toward W and Se atoms with auspicious hydrogen adsorption prop-erties.

Search for gamma-ray line signals around the black hole at the galactic center with DAMPE observation

The adiabatic growth of a black hole(BH)may enhance the dark matter(DM)density surrounding it,causing a spike in the DM density profile.The spike around the supermassive BH at the center of the Milky Way may lead to a dramatic enhancement of the gamma-ray flux of DM annihilation from the galactic center(GC).In this work,we analyze the gamma-ray data of the innermost region(i.e.,the inner 1°)of the GC to search for potential line-like signals from the BH spike.Such line-like signals could be generated in the process of DM particles annihilating into double photons.We adopt the gamma-ray data from the Dark Matter Particle Explorer(DAMPE).Although the DAMPE has a much smaller effective area than the Fermi-LAT,the gamma-ray line search can benefit from its unprecedented high energy resolution.No significant line-like signals are found in our analysis.We derive upper limits on the cross section of the annihilation based on this non-detection.We find that despite the DAMPE’s small effective area for photon detection,we can still place strong constraints on the cross section(≥10^(-27)cm^(3)s^(-1))in the spike scenario due to the very bright model-expected flux from the spike.Our results indicate that either DM does not annihilate primarily through theγγchannel in the mass range we considered or no sharp density spike is present at the GC.

Rare variants of Bosworth fracture-dislocation: Bosworth fracture-dislocation with medial malleolus adduction type fracture

Bosworth ankle fracture-dislocation is rare, known to be an irreducible type of ankle injury, with a high incidence of complication. We present two cases of even rarer variants of Bosworth ankle fracturedislocation. The first case is a type of supination external rotation adduction, and the second case is a type of supination external rotati on adduction. These types have not bee n described before .In both of the cases we failed to achieve close reduction, and therefore proceeded with emergency surgeries, with open reduction and internal fixation. Both of the cases were performed with a postero-lateral approach to reduce the dislocations, and fix the fractures successfully. Unfortunately in one of the cases, acute compartment syndrome developed post-surgically. However, both cases showed good functional outcomes.

Decoupled thermal–hydraulic analysis of an air-cooled separated heat pipe for spent fuel pools under natural convection

An investigation of the decoupled thermal–hydraulic analysis of a separated heat pipe spent fuel pool passive cooling system(SFS)is essential for practical engineering applications.Based on the principles of thermal and mass balance,this study decoupled the heat transfer processes in the SFS.In accordance with the decoupling conditions,we modeled the spent fuel pool of the CAP1400 pressurized water reactor in weihai and used computational fluid dynamics to explore the heat dissipation capacity of the SFS under different air temperatures and wind speeds.The results show that the air-cooled separated heat pipe radiator achieved optimal performance at an air temperature of 10℃ or wind speed of 8 m/s.Fitted equations for the equivalent thermal conductivity of the separated heat pipes with the wind speed and air temperature we obtained according to the thermal resistance network model.This study is instructive for the actual operation of an SFS.

Approximate Data Aggregation in Sensor Equipped IoT Networks

As Internet-of-Things(IoT) networks provide efficient ways to transfer data, they are used widely in data sensing applications. These applications can further include wireless sensor networks. One of the critical problems in sensor-equipped IoT networks is to design energy efficient data aggregation algorithms that address the issues of maximum value and distinct set query. In this paper, we propose an algorithm based on uniform sampling and Bernoulli sampling to address these issues. We have provided logical proofs to show that the proposed algorithms return accurate results with a given probability. Simulation results show that these algorithms have high performance compared with a simple distributed algorithm in terms of energy consumption.

According to Descartes,minds and bodies are distinct kinds of “substance”,and they cannot have causal interactions.However,in neuroscience,the two-way interaction between the brain and peripheral organs is an emerging field of research.Several lines of evidence highlight the importance of such interactions.For example,the peripheral metabolic systems are overwhelmingly regulated by the mind(brain),and anxiety and depression greatly affect the functioning of these systems.Also,psychological stress can cause a variety of physical symptoms,such as bone loss.Moreover,the gut microbiota appears to play a key role in neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative diseases.Mechanistically,as the command center of the body,the brain can regulate our internal organs and glands through the autonomic nervous system and neuroendocrine system,although it is generally considered to be outside the realm of voluntary control.The autonomic nervous system itself can be further subdivided into the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems.The sympathetic division functions a bit like the accelerator pedal on a car,and the parasympathetic division functions as the brake.The high center of the autonomic nervous system and the neuroendocrine system is the hypothalamus,which contains several subnuclei that control several basic physiological functions,such as the digestion of food and regulation of body temperature.Also,numerous peripheral signals contribute to the regulation of brain functions.Gastrointestinal(GI) hormones,insulin,and leptin are transported into the brain,where they regulate innate behaviors such as feeding,and they are also involved in emotional and cognitive functions.The brain can recognize peripheral inflammatory cytokines and induce a transient syndrome called sick behavior(SB),characterized by fatigue,reduced physical and social activity,and cognitive impairment.In summary,knowledge of the biological basis of the interactions between the central nervous system and peripheral organs will promote the full understanding of h
