Cetylpyridinium chloride mouth rinses alleviate experimental gingivitis by inhibiting dental plaque maturation

Oral rinses containing chemotherapeutic agents, such as cetylpyridinium chloride （CPC）, can alleviate plaque-induced gingival infections, but how oral microbiota respond to these treatments in human population remains poorly understood. Via a double- blinded, randomised controlled trial of 91 subjects, the impact of CPC-containing oral rinses on supragingival plaque was investigated in experimental gingivitis, where the subjects, after a 21-day period of dental prophylaxis to achieve healthy gingivae, received either CPC rinses or water for 21 days. Within-subject temporal dynamics of plaque microbiota and symptoms of gingivitis were profiled via 16S ribosomal DNA gene pyrosequencing and assessment with the Mazza gingival index. Cetylpyridinium chloride conferred gingival benefits, as progression of gingival inflammation resulting from a lack of dental hygiene was significantly slower in the mouth rinse group than in the water group due to inhibition of 17 gingivitis-enriched bacterial genera. Tracking of plaque a and β diversity revealed that CPC treatment prevents acquisition of new taxa that would otherwise accumulate but maintains the original biodiversity of healthy plaques. Furthermore, CPC rinses reduced the size, local connectivity and microbiota-wide connectivity of the bacterial correlation network, particularly for nodes representing gingivitis- enriched taxa. The findings of this study provide mechanistic insights into the impact of oral rinses on the progression and maturation of dental plaque in the natural human population.

Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT), heralded as the “king” of conducting polymers, is esteemed in bioelectronics for its mixed electronic and ionic conductivity, mechanical properties compatible with biological tissues, tunable healing ability and stability in diverse environments [1]. Based on additive manufacturing of three-dimensional structures,PEDOT realizes the implementation in the efficient production of flexible bioelectronics, the construction of intricate electrode-neural implantations, and the development of smart brain-computer-interfaces [2].

Preparation and Performance of Ternary Early Strength Agent and Quercetin Composite Cement Sealing Material

A ternary early-strengthening agent consisting of calcium formate+triethanolamine+lithium sulfate was compounded with quercetin to shorten the setting time of cementitious materials while ensuring their early *** optimum ratio of the three early-strengthening agents was determined as 0.5%calcium formate+0.04%triethanolamine+0.4%lithium sulfate by response surface *** effects of the ternary early-strengthening agent composed of calcium formate+triethanolamine(TEA)+lithium sulfate on cementitious pore sealing materials under the synergistic effect of quercetin were studied by means of the performance tests of compressive strength,fluidity,and setting time,and the microstructural characterizations of X-ray powder diffractometer(XRD),thermogravimetry(TG-DSC)and scanning electron microscopy(SEM).The study shows that the synergistic effect of ternary early-strengthening agent and quercetin forms a multi-performance composite admixture for cementitious *** best performance was obtained with the compounding scheme of 0.5%calcium formate+0.04%triethanolamine+0.4%lithium sulfate ternary early-strengthening agent and 0.05%*** compressive strength of 1,3,7,and 28 d are 94.8%,39.8%,42%,and 28%higher than those of the blank group,*** initial time and final setting time are 41 and 57 minutes,*** to the microscopic analysis,the network and fibrous C-S-H gels generated by ternary early-strengthening agents are attached to the surface promoted by quercetin,which forms skeleton support while thickening and solidifying the cement slurry,which enhances the early compressive strength of the cement-based materials.

＜正＞Relative eddy is a special relative flow in the blade passages of centrifugal impellers. Because the flow within the impeller is represented by both superposition of a throughf low and a relative eddy caused by inertia of water, it is of prime importance to investigate the eddy behavior. The authors of this paper performed groundbreaking experiments on a specifically designed impeller to explore the velocity distribution of eddy by utilizing an advanced PIV system. The authors also analyzed the experimental data theoretically and discovered previously unreleased flow laws associated with relative motion. The experimental results and analyses presented in this paper offer a solid foundation for further study of the inner flow inside a centrifugal impeller.

Under"green architecture"principles,electrochromic smart windows are employed to adjust optical transmittance and indoor temperature,yet their high costs limit the wide ***,an electrochromic window is driven by a redox flow battery(RFB),where TOC and deposition layers are no longer *** transmittance of the electrochromic window is modulated by the state of oxidation(SOC)of aqueous posolyte Fe(phen)_(3)Cl_(2),which is coupled with BTMAP-Vi negolyte in *** optimized conditions,average CE,VE,and EE reach 93.25%,92.61%,and 86.35%for RFB with a capacity fading rate of 1.57%per cycle.88.66%optical modulation and 9.36 cm^(2)/C coloration efficiency are achieved in the electrochromic process,and 72.34%optical modulation is maintained after 12000 ***,the indoor temperature declines 3℃for posolyte with 100%SOC when compared with the control experiment using circulating water for a model *** means minimum electricity of 0.0185 kWh is saved when using an air conditioner to cool a 100 m^(3)house,which corresponds to declined CO_(2)emission(COE)of 0.0185 *** work provides a novel and cost-efficient strategy for modulating indoor comfort via electrochromic windows driven by RFB.

Polymeric microwave actuators combining tissue-like softness with programmablemicrowave-responsive deformation hold great promise for mobile intelligentdevices and bionic soft robots. However, their application is challenged by restricted electromagneticsensitivity and intricate sensing coupling. In this study, a sensitized polymericmicrowave actuator is fabricated by hybridizing a liquid crystal polymer with Ti3C2Tx(MXene). Compared to the initial counterpart, the hybrid polymer exhibits unique spacechargepolarization and interfacial polarization, resulting in significant improvements of230% in the dielectric loss factor and 830% in the apparent efficiency of electromagneticenergy harvest. The sensitized microwave actuation demonstrates as the shortenedresponse time of nearly 10 s, which is merely 13% of that for the initial shape memory polymer. Moreover, the ultra-low content of MXene (upto 0.15 wt%) benefits for maintaining the actuation potential of the hybrid polymer. An innovative self-powered sensing prototype that combinesdriving and piezoelectric polymers is developed, which generates real-time electric potential feedback (open-circuit potential of ~ 3 mV) duringactuation. The polarization-dominant energy conversion mechanism observed in the MXene-polymer hybrid structure furnishes a new approachfor developing efficient electromagnetic dissipative structures and shows potential for advancing polymeric electromagnetic intelligent devices.

Bending Stiffness of Concrete-Filled Steel Tube and Its Influence on Concrete Placement Timing of Composite Beam-String Structure

When the upper chord beam of the beam-string structure(BSS)is made of concrete-filled steel tube(CFST),its overall stiffness will change greatly with the construction of concrete placement,which will have an impact on the design of the tensioning plans and selection of control measures for the *** order to accurately obtain the bending stiffness of CFST beam and clarify its impact on the mechanical properties of composite BSS during construction,the influence of some factors such as height-width ratio,wall thickness of steel tube,elasticity modulus of concrete,and friction coefficient on the bending stiffness are analyzed parametrically by the numerical simulation technology based on an actual *** calculation formula of the equivalent bending stiffness of CFST is also established through mathematical statistical ***,the equivalent bending stiffness is introduced into the construction and use stages of the composite BSS,respectively,and the mechanical properties such as prestress-tensioning control value,structural deformation,and internal force of key members are comparatively analyzed when adopting two different construction ***,the optimal construction plan of concrete placement first and then prestress-tensioning is proposed.

Amperometric Glucose Sensor Based on Batch CuO-Modified Screen-Printed Silver-Carbon Electrodes

CuO nanoparticles were successfully synthesized via a two-jet electrospun method,and then screen-printed on silver-carbon electrodes,forming CuO-modified Ag-C(CuO/Ag-C)disposable strip *** natural environment condition for glucose detection,the obtained CuO/Ag-C electrodes show a high sensitivity of 540 nA·mM^(-1)·cm^(-2),and a low limit of detection(0.68 mM)in a wide linear response range of 0.68 mM and 3 mM(signal/noise=3),*** addition,the CuO/Ag-C electrodes also exhibit excellent anti-interference,air stability and *** a result,the fabrication of CuO nanoparticles via an electrospun process and the technique of screen-printed electrodes are of great significance for glucose detection.
