Tens of billion metric tons of anthropogenic CO_2 discharged from the burning of fossil fuels lead to an enormous environmental and resource burden. It is charming to transform CO_2 to desirable, economical chemicals and materials. Poly（propylene carbonate）（PPC） is an emerging CO_2-based material. Herein, we report the design, synthesis and characterization of the reactive hot melt polyurethane adhesive（RHMPA） based on PPC polyol. The resultant RHMPAs exhibit good adhesion properties to multiple substrates including plastics（PC, PMMA, ABS） and metals（aluminium, steel）, which is comparable to or even better than conventional RHMPAs prepared from petro-based polyol. Furthermore, the PPC-based RHMPAs have tunable mechanical properties, and are thermally stable in the typical working range of bonding process（up to 270 °C）. The study is expected to expand the applications of PPC and provide a new type of CO_2-based renewable and eco-friendly materials.

Prospects on mangrove knowledge services in the smart era: From plant atlas to knowledge graphs

Mangroves are crucial to the ecological security of the Earth and human well-being. Their management, conservation, and restoration are of great importance and necessitate the support of spatio-temporal information and multidisciplinary knowledge such as biology and ecology. Traditional knowledge services such as plant atlas provide illustrated textual knowledge of mangroves. However, this kind of service is oriented to information retrieval and is incapable of effectively mining and utilizing fragmented knowledge from multi-source heterogeneous data, facing the problem of “massive data, rare knowledge”. Knowledge graphs are capable of extracting, organizing, and fusing the knowledge contained in massive data into semantic networks that can be understood and computed by computers. They provide a solution for the realization of intelligent knowledge services. Focusing on the urgent need for mangrove knowledge acquisition, formal representation, and intelligent services, this paper proposes a research prospect on mangrove knowledge graphs and knowledge services. We first analyze the similarities and differences between various domain-specific concepts of Tupu. On this basis, we define the mangrove knowledge graph as a large-scale knowledge base that integrates multi-disciplinary knowledge and spatio-temporal information with mangrove ecosystems as the core. Then, we propose a research framework for mangrove knowledge services that can realize the transformation from multi-modal data to intelligent knowledge services, including multiple research levels such as ubiquitous data sensing and aggregation, knowledge organization and graph construction, and intelligent mangrove knowledge services. Subsequently, the methods and workflow for constructing mangrove knowledge graphs are introduced. On-orbit attitude planning for Earth observation imaging with star-based geometric calibration

To improve the quality of remote sensing images, a novel on-orbit attitude planning method for Earth observation imaging with star-based geometric calibration is presented in this study. Unlike traditional imaging processes, the proposed method includes both pre-calibration and post-calibration stages to enhance the accuracy of satellite geometric positioning. A multiple-constraint attitude planning algorithm was developed to ensure star-based calibration, wherein the satellite camera and star sensors simultaneously capture the images of stars. This integration of cameras and multiple star sensors enables effective attitude determination. During the Earth imaging stage, a fast on-orbit attitude planning algorithm was developed to determine the satellite attitude and the optimal imaging times for ground targets. Compared with existing methods, the fast on-orbit attitude planning algorithm can significantly reduce computational time and resource consumption via initial value selection and *** demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed attitude planning method, which was successfully applied to Wuhan 1satellite.

Nitrogen addition promotes soil carbon accumulation globally

Soil is the largest carbon(C) reservoir in terrestrial ecosystems and plays a crucial role in regulating the global C cycle and climate *** nitrogen(N) deposition has been widely considered as a critical factor affecting soil organic carbon(SOC) storage, but its effect on SOC components with different stability remains unclear. Here, we analyzed extensive empirical data from 304 sites worldwide to investigate how SOC and its components respond to N addition. Our analysis showed that N addition led to a significant increase in bulk SOC(6.7%), with greater increases in croplands(10.6%) and forests(6.0%) compared to grasslands(2.1%). Regarding SOC components, N addition promoted the accumulation of plant-derived C(9.7%–28.5%) over microbial-derived C(0.2%), as well as labile(5.7%) over recalcitrant components(–1.2%), resulting in a shift towards increased accumulation of plant-derived labile C. Consistently, N addition led to a greater increase in particulate organic C(11.9%) than mineral-associated organic C(3.6%), suggesting that N addition promotes C accumulation across all pools, with more increase in unstable than stable pools. The responses of SOC and its components were best predicted by the N addition rate and net primary productivity. Overall, our findings suggest that N enrichment could promote the accumulation of plant-derived and non-mineral associated C and a subsequent decrease in the overall stability of soil C pool, which underscores the importance of considering the effects of N enrichment on SOC components for a better understanding of C dynamics in soils.

A versatile synthetic strategy towards rare earth based metal-organic frameworks

Rare earth metal-organic frameworks (RE-MOFs) have drawn wide attention owing to diverse network structures and various application ***,due to the unpredictable formation of the nodes,it is still challenging to design novel RE-MOFs.A novel versatile strategy was developed employing a RE-acetate complex (RE2(CH3COO)6·4H2O) as a precursor to construct RE-MOFs.2D RE-MOFs (RE-DBP) and 3D RE-MOFs (RE-TCPP) could be obtained by using dicarboxylic porphyrin ligands H2DBP and tetracarboxylic porphyrin ligands H2TCPP,*** RE-MOFs were further synthesized to verify the universality of the *** crystalline RE-MOFs could also be prepared at room temperature via the developed strategy,which could significantly promote large-scale preparation and practical application of *** proof of the concept,the performance of porphyrin-based RE-MOFs was investigated in the photocatalytic cycloaddition of CO2with *** the RE-DBP(Co) MOFs,Tb-DBP(Co) exhibited the best photocatalytic performance,which was also greater than that of the corresponding 3D MOF Tb-TCPP(Co) due to the optimal 2D structure and thus the accelerated photogenerated charge separation and transfer *** work not only provides a novel versatile strategy to design and develop RE-MOFs,but also proposes a promising approach for the potential bulk production of RE-MOFs at room temperature.
