Background:Transmembrane 4 L six family member 5(TM4SF5)translocates subcellularly and functions metabolically,although it is unclear how intracellu-lar TM4SF5 translocation is linked to metabolic *** is thus of interests to understand how the traffic dynamics of TM4SF5 to subcellular endosomal membranes are correlated to regulatory roles of ***:Here,we explored the metabolic significance of TM4SF5 localization at mitochondria-lysosome contact sites(MLCSs),using in vitro cells and in vivo animal systems,via approaches by immunofluorescence,proximity labelling based proteomics analysis,organelle reconstitution ***:Upon extracellular glucose repletion following depletion,TM4SF5 became enriched at MLCSs via an interaction between mitochondrial FK506-binding protein 8(FKBP8)and lysosomal *** labeling showed molecular clustering of phospho-dynamic-related protein I(DRP1)and certain mitophagy receptors at TM4SF5-enriched MLCSs,leading to mitochondrial fis-sion and ***4SF5 bound NPC intracellular cholesterol transporter 1(NPC1)and free cholesterol,and mediated export of lysosomal cholesterol to mitochondria,leading to impaired oxidative phosphorylation but intact tri-carboxylic acid(TCA)cycle andβ-*** mouse models,hepatocyte Tm4sf5 promoted mitophagy and cholesterol transport to mitochondria,both with positive relations to liver ***:Our findings suggested that TM4SF5-enriched MLCSs regu-late glucose catabolism by facilitating cholesterol export for mitochondrial reprogramming,presumably while hepatocellular carcinogenesis,recapitulating aspects for hepatocellular carcinoma metabolism with mitochondrial repro-gramming to support biomolecule synthesis in addition to glycolytic energetics.

Soil salinity is one of the most serious agricultural problems that significantly reduce crop yields in the aridand semi-arid regions. It influences various phases of plant growth and developmental processes, such as seed germina-tion, leaf and stem growth, and reproductive propagation. Salt stress delays the onset of flowering in many plant spe-cies. We have previously reported that the Arabidopsis BROTHER OF FT AND TFL1 （BFT） acts as a floral repressor undersalt stress. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying the BFT function in the salt regulation of flowering inductionis unknown. In this work, we found that BFT delays flowering under high salinity by competing with FLOWERING LOCUST （FT） for binding to the FD transcription factor. The flowering time of FD-deficient fd-2 mutant was insensitive to highsalinity. BFT interacts with FD in the nucleus via the C-terminal domain of FD, which is also required for the interactionof FD with FT, and interferes with the FT-FD interaction. These observations indicate that BFT constitutes a distinct saltstress signaling pathway that modulates the function of the FT-FD module and possibly provides an adaptation strategythat fine-tunes photoperiodic flowering under high salinity.

Seismic hazard level reduction for existing buildings considering remaining building lifespans

Seismic hazard levels lower than those for design of new buildings have been permitted for seismic evaluation and retrofi t of existing buildings due to the relatively short remaining lifespans. The seismic hazard reduction enables costeff ective seismic evaluation and retrofi t of existing buildings with limited structural capacity. The current study proposes seismic hazard reduction factors for Korea, one of low to moderate seismicity regions. The seismic hazard reduction factors are based on equal probabilities of non-exceedance within diff erent remaining building lifespans. A validation procedure is proposed to investigate equality of seismic risk in terms of ductility-based limit states using seismic fragility assessment of nonlinear SDOF systems, of which retrofi t demands are determined by the displacement coeffi cient method of ASCE 41-13 for diff erent target remaining building lifespans and corresponding reduced design earthquakes. Validation result shows that the use of seismic hazard reduction factors can be permitted in conjunction with appropriate lower bounds of the remaining building lifespans.

Importance of Adaptive Photometric Augmentation for Different Convolutional Neural Network

Existing segmentation and augmentation techniques on convolutional neural network(CNN)has produced remarkable progress in object ***,the nominal accuracy and performance might be downturned with the photometric variation of images that are directly ignored in the training process,along with the context of the individual CNN *** this paper,we investigate the effect of a photometric variation like brightness and sharpness on different *** observe that random augmentation of images weakens the performance unless the augmentation combines the weak limits of photometric *** approach has been justified by the experimental result obtained from the PASCAL VOC 2007 dataset,with object detection CNN algorithms such as YOLOv3(You Only Look Once),Faster R-CNN(Region-based CNN),and SSD(Single Shot Multibox Detector).Each CNN model shows performance loss for varying sharpness and brightness,ranging between−80%to 80%.It was further shown that compared to random augmentation,the augmented dataset with weak photometric changes delivered high performance,but the photometric augmentation range differs for each ***,we discuss some research questions that benefit the direction of the *** results prove the importance of adaptive augmentation for individual CNN model,subjecting towards the robustness of object detection.

Visualization of flow structures inside a conical spouted bed by electrical capacitance volume tomography

Electrical capacitance volume tomography (ECVT) was conducted to measure instantaneous gas–solid flow structures in a conical spouted bed. The sensor has 24 electrodes/channels and was used to make three-dimensional measurements of the solid volume fraction. Flow structures in the conical spouted bed were analyzed using quantitative ECVT images. Three-dimensional images of gas–solid flow structures and time-averaged vertical and radial solid volume fraction profiles are presented. Different fluidization regimes in spouted beds were characterized by analyzing pressure fluctuation signals and ECVT images. ECVT was shown to be robust and powerful for the three-dimensional visualization and quantitative measurement of a gas–solid fluidization system.

Design and Demonstration of a Locust-Like Jumping Mechanism for Small-Scale Robots

A jumping mechanism can be an efficient mode of motion for small robots to overcome large obstacles on the ground and rough terrain. In this paper, we present a 7 g prototype of locust-inspired jumping mechanism that uses springs, wire, reduction gears, and a motor as the actuation components. The leg structure and muscles of a locust or grasshopper were mimicked using springs and wire, springs for passive extensor muscles, and a wire as a flexor muscle. A small motor was used to slowly charge the spring through a lever and gear system, and a cam with a special profile was used as a clicking mechanism for quick release of elastic energy stored in the springs to create a sudden kick for a quick jump. Performance analysis and experiments were conducted for comparison and performance estimation of the jumping mechanism prototype. Our prototype could produce standing jumps over obstacles that were about 14 times its own size （approximate to 71 cm） and a jumping distance of 20 times its own size （approximate to 100 cm）.

BACKGROUND Healthcare workers(HCWs)are at an increased risk for exposure to *** marcescens(***)is a gram-negative,opportunistic and nosocomial pathogen belonging to the Enterobacterieae family.A few case reports have been published of chorioamnionitis caused by *** *** changes during pregnancy can also affect the risk of ***,few studies have examined hospital-acquired bacterial infection in pregnant *** SUMMARY A 33-year-old woman,a resident in anesthesiology,was admitted at 14 wk gestation for fever with *** had no medical history other than contact dermatitis of both hands that started from the beginning of the *** was no obvious infection focus and no bacterial growth in blood *** was discharged after 1 wk of empirical antibiotic *** three weeks before the fever started,she had a blister on the site of contact dermatitis on both hands,she applied antibiotic ointment for three days and the blisters had *** 19 wk gestation,she had a high fever and was *** examination and image studies were nonspecific and the patient had no other *** grew in blood cultures at 19 wk *** with intravenous antibiotics was ***,she suffered a miscarriage at 224/7 wk ***,the amniotic membrane showed chorioamnionitis with a focal ***,a placenta tissue culture grew *** HCWs can be exposed to pathogens that can cause opportunistic infections such as *** affects the immune system,making it susceptible to opportunistic ***,pregnant HCWs may require more preventive measures,including hand hygiene and avoid risk factors(*** the skin).

Generation of Control Moments in an Insect-like Tailless Flapping-wing Micro Air Vehicle by Changing the Stroke-plane Angle

We propose a control moment generator to control the attitude of an insect-like tailless Flapping-wing Micro Air Vehicle （FW-MAV）, where the flapping wings simultaneously produce the flight force and control moments. The generator tilts the stroke plane of each wing independently to direct the resultant aerodynamic force in the desired direction to ultimately generate pitch and yaw moments. A roll moment is produced by an additional mechanism that shifts the trailing edge, which changes the wing rotation angles of the two flapping wings and produces an asymmetric thrust. Images of the flapping wings are captured with a high-speed camera and clearly show that the FW-MAV can independently change the stroke planes of its two wings. The measured force and moment data prove that the control moment generator produces reasonable pitch and yaw moments by tilting the stroke plane and realizes a roll moment by shifting the position of the trailing edge at the wing root.

Influence of Center of Gravity Location on Flight Dynamic Stability in a Hovering Tailless FW-MAV: Lateral Motion

This paper reports the effect of the Center of Gravity(CG)position on lateral flight dynamic stability of hovering KUBeetle,a tailless FW-MAV,providing further insights on the effects of asymmetries in body mass distribution and wing *** the current study,the standard linearized equations of motion were applied as in the previous work on longitudinal dynamic *** stability derivatives were acquired using the computational fluid dynamic methods via the commercial software of ANSYS *** exists a stable region for CG between 2.6%and 3.5%of the mean chord below the wing pivot point,in which the lateral motion of hovering KUBeetle is passively *** CG below the stable region,because of an unstable oscillatory mode,the lateral motion of the FW-MAV is unstable but can be stabilized using rolling rate *** CG above the stable region,because of a divergence mode,the system remains unstable even with the rolling rate *** with other works on an FW-MAV based on a quasi-steady aerodynamic model and on insect showed similar characteristics for flapping *** is also interesting to note that the asymmetries in body mass and wing kinematics can enlarge the stable region of the system by a non-zero Ixz which approaches the root square of√IxIz,a negative LrNp,and a positive Ix2(Ir+Np).Combining the current result with that of the previous work on longitudinal motion,the most beneficial region of the CG for full 6-DOF flight dynamic stability of hovering KUBeetle was suggested.

Variations in microstructure and bending formability of extruded Mg–Al–Zn–Ca–Y–MM alloy with precompression and subsequent annealing treatment conditions

In this study, the bending formability of an extruded Mg–9Al–1Zn–0.3Mn–0.9Ca–0.6Y–0.5 MM(AZXWMM91100, wt%) alloy at room temperature is significantly improved through application of a combined precompression and subsequent annealing(PCA) treatment. As the amount of precompression applied along the extrusion direction(ED)(i.e., the total strain) increases from 4% to 6%, the area fraction of ED-oriented grains of the PCA-treated alloy increases, which consequently causes an improvement in its bending formability because these grains accommodate larger tensile strain along the ED during bending. As the temperature of the subsequent annealing treatment increases from 350 ℃ to 450 ℃, both the area fraction of the ED-oriented grains and the average grain size increase, and the residual dislocation density decreases owing to the promotion of boundary migration and occurrence of the recovery process at higher ***, the bending formability of both the 4%-precompressed and the 6%-precompressed samples increases with an increase in the annealing temperature. However, when the precompressed samples are annealed at 300 ℃, their bending formability is lower than that of the extruded alloy because the dislocations formed by precompression remain even after the subsequent annealing at this temperature.
