BACKGROUND The high prevalence of human papillomavirus(HPV)infection in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma(SCC)is well established,and p16 expression is a strong ***-related tumors exhibit unique mechanisms that target p16 and p53 ***,research on HPV prevalence and the combined predictive value of p16 and p53 expression in head and neck cutaneous SCC(HNCSCC),particularly in Asian populations,remains *** retrospective study surveyed 62 patients with HNSCC(2011-2020),excluding those with facial warts or other skin *** To explore the prevalence of HPV and the predictive value of p16 and p53 expression in HNCSCC in Asian *** All patients underwent wide excision and *** staining for HPV,p16,and p53 yielded positive and negative *** relevance of each marker was investigated by categorizing the tumor locations into high-risk and middle-risk zones based on recurrence *** Of the 62 patients,20(32.26%)were male,with an average age of 82.27 years(range 26-103 years).High-risk included 19 cases(30.65%),with the eyelid and lip being the most common sites(five cases,8.06%).Middle-risk included 43 cases(69.35%),with the cheek being the most common(29 cases,46.77%).The p16 expression was detected in 24 patients(38.71%),p53 expression in 42 patients(72.58%),and HPV in five patients(8.06%).No significant association was found between p16 expression and the presence of HPV(P>0.99),with a positive predictive value of 8.33%.CONCLUSION This study revealed that p16,a surrogate HPV marker in oropharyngeal SCC,is not reliable in HNCSCC,providing valuable insights for further research in Asian populations.

Analyzing the Relationships Between Factors Affecting Adolescents＇ Happiness in OECD Countries

The aim of this study is to investigate the causal relationships between key factors relating to education that affect the happiness of adolescents, and to put forward policy suggestions wherewith 20 OECD countries may raise their levels of adolescent happiness. The HBSC score of adolescents from 20 OECD countries was selected as an indicator for happiness, and a number of independent variables such as per capita GDP and per capita educational expenditure were included in the analysis. A structural equation model was employed for the analysis. The research results show that the variables that directly affected happiness were per capita educational expenditure, educational decentralization level, number of students per teacher, and others. Of these, per capita educational expenditure had the greatest influence. Of the paths to adolescent happiness, those that contained a significant indirect effect were ＂per capita GDP → per capita educational expenditure → happiness＂ and ＂educational decentralization → number of students per teacher → happiness＂, which were significant at the level ofp 〈 0.05. Compiling the paths toward adolescent happiness focusing on the significance of these direct and indirect effects shows that the ＂per capita GDP →per capita educational expenditure → happiness＂ path has the greatest effect.

A critical challenge hindering the practical application of lithium–oxygen batteries(LOBs)is the inevitable problems associated with liquid electrolytes,such as evaporation and safety *** study addresses these problems by proposing a modified polyrotaxane(mPR)-based solid polymer electrolyte(SPE)design that simultaneously mitigates solvent-related problems and improves ***-SPE exhibits high ion conductivity(2.8×10^(−3)S cm^(−1)at 25℃)through aligned ion conduction pathways and provides electrode protection ability through hydrophobic chain *** this mPR-SPE into solid-state LOBs resulted in stable potentials over 300 *** situ Raman spectroscopy reveals the presence of an LiO_(2)intermediate alongside Li_(2)O_(2)during oxygen *** situ X-ray diffraction confirm the ability of the SPE to hinder the permeation of oxygen and moisture,as demonstrated by the air permeability *** present study suggests that maintaining a low residual solvent while achieving high ionic conductivity is crucial for restricting the sub-reactions of solid-state LOBs.

Objective: To investigate the anti-colon cancer effects of ethylacetate fraction from Orostachys japonicus(0. japonicus) on HT-29 cancer cells. Methods: The viability of HT-29 cells was assayed by the 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-5-(3-carboxymethoxyphenyl)-2-(4-sulfophenyl)-2 H-tetrazolium(MTS) method. Apoptosis induction and cell cycle inhibition were confirmed by fluorescein isothiocyanate and propidium iodide staining using flow *** changes in the nucleus were observed, using a fluorescence microscope with4',6-diamidino-2-phenylindole(DAPI) nuclear staining. The expression levels of the upstream and downstream proteins involved in the anti-cancer mechanism were confirmed by Western blotting. Results: After treating HT-29 cells with different concentrations of ethylacetate fraction from O. japonicus, the viability of cells decreased in a concentration-dependent manner,while apoptosis induction and apoptotic body formation increased. Cell cycle analysis showed that the arrest occurred at the sub-G_1 and S phase. Among the upstream and downstream proteins involved in anti-cancer activity, the level of B cell lymphoma-2 decreased, and the bcl-2-associated x protein increased. The level of pro-caspase-3, pro-caspase-8, and pro-caspase-9 decreased, while the level of cleaved-caspase-3, cleaved-caspase-8, and cleaved-caspase-9 increased. Moreover, the phosphorylation, that is, activation of extracellular signal regulated kinase 1/2, Jun-N-terminal kinase, and p38 increased. Conclusions: Combining the above results, it is thought that the survival of HT-29 cells is suppressed by ethylacetate fraction from0. japonicus through mitochondrial regulation-induced caspase cascade activation, induction of apoptosis and cell cycle arrest.

Bee venom(BV),one of the most commonly encountered types of animal venom,consists of a mixture of chemical agents that cause allergic reactions in the human body.⑴BV therapy,in which BV is exploited for medicinal purposes,is available worldwide,mainly used in Asia,Eastern Europe,and South America.(2)BV therapy has been applied to treat a diverse set of diseases including various musculoskeletal conditions such as arthritis and rheumatism,arthralgia,chronic recalcitrant neuralgia,(3-5)Parkinson's disease,(6,7)postherpetic neuralgia,(8)and morphea.(9)Although the therapeutic utility of BV has been demonstrated,extensive studies regarding the safety of BV as a therapeutic agent have identified potential side effects,ranging from minor skin reactions that typically resolve over several days to severe life-threatening immune responses such as anaphylaxis.

Objective:To investigate the effect of Orostachys(O.)japonicus,a perennial herbaceous plant of the Family Crassulaceae,on biofilm formed by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA).Methods:Powdered *** was extracted by 95%methanol,concentrated,and then,systematically fractionated with n-hexane,dichloromethane(DCM),ethyl acetate(EtOAc),n-butanol,and H2 O according to *** them,the flavonoid-rich EtOAc fraction demonstrated the highest antibacterial activity and was used in this *** the biofilm inhibition assay,cell-surface attachment assay,confocal laser scanning microscopy,latex agglutination assay,and real time qRT-PCR,we examined whether the EtOAc fraction inhibited the formation of MRSA ***:The EtOAc fraction exhibited distinct activity against biofilm formation and cell-surface attachment of MRSA up to 1 mg/m L through down-regulating the expression of mec A gene and the production and agglutination of penicillin-binding protein 2 a as solidly observed in biofilm inhibition assay,cell-suface attachment assay,confocal laser scanning microscopy,latex agglutination assay,and real time qRT-PCR ***:These results suggest that *** could be utilized as a potential resource for the development of new antibiofilm formation of MRSA and antibacterial agents in the future.

Background: The recently proposed definition of metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease(MAFLD) is based on the co-existence of hepatic steatosis with other metabolic disorders, including obesity and metabolic risk abnormalities such as hyperglycemia, high blood pressure and dyslipidemia. This study aimed to assess MAFLD severity according to the presence of metabolic abnormalities and obesity. Methods: Using transient elastography, hepatic steatosis and fibrosis severity were assessed by measuring the controlled attenuation parameter and liver stiffness measurement. A total of 1163 patients with MAFLD were categorized into the following four groups according to metabolic risk abnormalities and obesity presence: non-obese without metabolic risk abnormality group(Group 1;reference group);nonobese with metabolic risk abnormality group(Group 2);obese without metabolic risk abnormality group(Group 3);and obese with metabolic risk abnormality group(Group 4). A multiple logistic regression analysis was performed to determine severe hepatic steatosis and fibrosis risk in each group in both unadjusted and adjusted models. Results: In the adjusted model, the odds ratios(ORs) [95% confidence interval(CI)] for severe hepatic steatosis in Groups 2, 3, and 4 were 1.07(0.61-1.88), 2.43(1.44-4.08), and 4.07(2.56-6.48), respectively( P trend < 0.001). For liver fibrosis, compared with Group 1, Group 2 showed no significant increases in OR, whereas Groups 3 and 4(obese groups) showed significant increases(OR = 4.70, 95% CI: 1.24-17.82 and OR = 6.43, 95% CI: 1.88-22.02, respectively). Conclusions: Obesity, rather than metabolic abnormality, is the principal determinant of severe hepatic steatosis and fibrosis in patients with MAFLD.

To date,most current reports on the development and optimization of artificial lighting sources have focused on the energy performance levels and limited color qualities of white light-emitting diodes(LEDs).However,these properties are insufficient in terms of representing all performance levels required when adjusting white LEDs for healthy and smart ***,we introduce essential and advanced figures of merit pertaining to circadian performance as well as vision performance and color *** compare all possible properties of commercialized artificial lighting,daylight and four-package white LEDs which consist of long-wavelength pass dichroic filter(LPDF)-capped,phosphor-converted red,amber and green LEDs(pc-LEDs)and a blue *** show that these tunable four-package white LEDs produce a tunable circadian effect for melatonin suppression/secretion,a high color quality for color perception/reproduction,high efficiency for energy savings and tunable figures of merit for the smart LED lighting market.

AIM：To evaluate the clinical outcomes of V4 c implantable collamer lens（Hole ICL） implantation with regard to the optical quality assessed according to different degrees of ***：This included 49 eyes that received conventional ICL and 94 eyes that received Hole *** eyes that received Hole ICL were divided into three groups according to the degree of decentering：group 1,central hole within 1 hole diameter（HD） from the pupil center;group 2,central hole within 1 HD to 2 HD;and group 3,central hole within 2 HD to 3 *** acuity（VA）,intraocular pressure（IOP）,and spherical equivalent（SE） values were assessed at 1wk,1 and 3mo after *** ocular modulation transfer function,Strehl ratio,objective scattering index,and higher order aberrations（HOAs） were measured for 4-mm pupils at 3mo after ***：There were no significant differences in VA,IOP,and SE among the conventional and Hole ICL *** regard to HOAs,values for coma and spherical aberrations showed no *** total HOA and trefoil values were significantly higher in group 2 than in group 1（P=0.02,0.03,respectively）.There were no significant differences among groups with regard to other optical quality parameter at 3mo after ***：Our results suggest that Hole ICL implantation provides satisfactory visual quality that is equivalent to that provided by conventional ICL,regardless of the presence of central hole and degree of decentering.
