Comprehensive understanding of marine biodiversity is essential for conservation,especially for vulnerable *** this paper,we implemented and illustrated a checklist of molluscs from the Abrolhos Parcel,Brazil,the most important coralline area in South Atlantic *** list features 100 species belonging to 4 classes and 85 genera,of which 15 are new records for Bahia State,northeast *** results highlight the potential for new records in the *** species came from 54 unconsolidated sediment samples collected from the bottom of the reef with a 0.042-m^(2) van Veen *** the listed species,Curveulima sp.,Notarchus *** Guyanella clenchi are new records for the South Atlantic,while Caecum metamorphosicum,Eratoidea janeiroensis,Volvarina serrei,Solemya notialis,Solariorbis shimeri,and Amphithalamus glabrus are endemic to Brazilian waters.A comparison of our results with those obtained in other reef environments indicates that the Abrolhos Parcel has a rich malacofauna and suggests that many more species can still be found with more samplings.

Purpose:The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of fatigue upon kicking maximal ball velocity and the target-hitting accuracy of soccer players;and also to examine the effect of the knowledge of the exercise duration upon these 2 ***:Twenty-four semi-professional soccer players participated in this study and performed maximal instep kicks before and after the implementation of an exercise protocol,either with or without knowledge of the duration of this ***:A mixed model of analysis of variance showed that kicking maximal ball velocity was significantly affected(F(5,85)=11.6,p<0.001,η^2=0.39) but only after just 1 circuit of the fatigue protocol and then remained *** did not change during the protocol(F(5,75)=0.23,p=0.76,η^2=0.03) and knowing the duration of exercitation did not affect accuracy and velocity development(F(1,23) ≤1.04,p≥0.32,η~2≤0.06).Conclusion:These findings demonstrated the potential negative effects of fatigue on kicking ball velocity in soccer but not in the kicking accuracy and that the effect of fatigue may not be progressive over *** or not knowing the duration of exercitation did not affect the results.

Total porosity （TP）, determined by image analysis, pore type and pore size distribution were evaluated on impregnated soil blocks from an undisturbed Brazilian sandy loam soil using a digital portable optical microscope. The free software Image J （version 1.40g） was used for image analysis. Procedures for soil image collection and analysis were presented. The image analysis allowed the evaluation of pore sizes with diameters ranging from 20 to 〉 1 000 μm. The following types of pores were also obtained： rounded, elongated and intermediate. The results M[owed the characterization of the soil as moderately porous （TP = 21.6%）. Rounded, intermediate and elongated pores were responsible for 11.6%, 31.7% and 56.7% of TP. In relation to pore size 51.1% of TP was in the 100-500μm size class and a third of TP came from the pores larger than 500μm.

＜正＞A design and control sensitivity analysis and multicriteria optimization formulation is derived for flexible mechanical systems. This formulation is implemented in an optimum design code and it is applied to the nonlinear response of an impact absorber and to a flexible vehicle chassis with suspension. Structural dimensions as well as lumped damping and stiffness characteristics plus control driven forces, are considered as decision variables. The dynamic response and its sensitivity are discretized via space and time finite elements, and are integrated globally or step-by-step. Direct differentiation and adjoint system approaches are used to calculate the sensitivities. Nonlinear programming and optimality criteria are used for the optimization process.

The use of GPR （ground penetrating radar） as an auxiliary tool in geotechnical and environmental site investigations has increased in Brazil during the past few years. GPR has been used to delineate contamination plumes, to aid in geological modelling, to detect buried structures and in archaeological surveys. This paper describes and discusses the results ofa GPR site investigation carried out at Gramacho Municipal Solid Waste Landfill in the State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. A field study was conducted to detect failure surfaces in its slopes and within the waste mass. The results have shown that：（l） Slip surfaces could be indicated by small continuous voids within the waste mass since there is a good contrast between the dielectric constant of air and municipal waste; （2） Greenhouse gases pools could also be indicated by large voids within the waste mass since there is a good contrast between the dielectric constant of carbon dioxide, methane and municipal waste; （3） Leachate pools present a high electric conductivity that could be easily detected by GPR.

Evaluation of Prophylaxis with Norfloxacin and Ceftriaxone versus Ciprofloxacin during the Period of Neutropenia after Haematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation:Retrospective Analysis of Two Sequencial Cohorts

Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate the occurrence of febrile neutropenia (FN) during aplasia after haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) in patients who received anti-bacterial prophylaxis with norfloxacin/ceftriaxone or ciprofloxacin, between September 2006 and May 2009. Methods: We retrospectively examined all patients undergoing HSCT at S?o Paulo Hospital during the study period. Results: Of the 107 studied patients, 71 (66.3%) were included in the analysis. The exclusion criteria were as follows: occurrence of fever or infection before the transplantation (17), prophylactic use of norfloxacin (6), fever of probable non-infectious aetiology (2), and absence of prophylaxis during the aplasia period (11). Thirty-eight patients received norfloxacin and ceftriaxone as prophylaxis (Group I) and 33 received ciprofloxacin (Group II). The groups were comparable with respect to age, underlying diseases, comorbidities, and status of the underlying disease. Patients in Group II used antibiotics in a significantly higher frequency than those in Group I (66.7% vs 33.8%, p = 0.017), for 30 days before transplantation. The number of previous hospitalisations, length of hospitalisation until transplantation, type of transplant, progenitor cells used, number of CD34 cells infused, type of conditioning, and graft-versus-host disease prophylaxis were similar in both groups. After the transplantation, 28.9% and 39.4% of the patients in Groups I and II, respectively, presented Grade III and IV mucositis (p = 0.448). Neutropenia of <500 neutrophils/mm3 lasted an average of 9.5 and 9.3 days in Groups I and II, whereas neutropenia of <100 neutrophils/mm3 lasted between 6.6 and 5.7 days. FN occurred in 78.9% of patients in Group I and 81.8% in Group II, with no significant difference in the classification of these episodes.
