Porous organic molecular materials(POMMs)are an emergent class of molecular-based materials characterized by the formation of extended porous frameworks,mainly held by non-covalent *** represent a variety of chemical families,such as hydrogen-bonded organic frameworks,porous organic salts,porous organic cages,C-H···πmicroporous crystals,supramolecular organic frameworks,π-organic frameworks,halogen-bonded organic framework,and intrinsically porous molecular *** some porous materials such as zeolites and metal organic frameworks,the integration of multiscale has been adopted to build materials with multifunctionality and optimized ***,considering the significant role of hierarchy in porous materials and the growing importance of POMMs in the realm of synthetic porous materials,we consider it appropriate to dedicate for the first time a critical review covering both ***,we will provide a summary of literature examples showcasing hierarchical POMMs,with a focus on their main synthetic approaches,applications,and the advantages brought forth by introducing hierarchy.

Sperm quality is evaluated for the calculation of sperm dosage in artificial reproductive programs. The most common parameter used is motility, but morphology has a higher potential as a predictor of genetic quality. Morphometry calculations from CASA-Morph technology improve morphological evaluation and allow mathematical approaches to the problem. Semen from 28 Holstein bulls was collected by artificial vagina, and several ejaculates were studied. After general evaluation, samples were diluted, packaged in 0.25 ml straws, and stored in liquid nitrogen. Two straws per sample were thawed, and slides were processed and stained with diff-Quik. Samples were analyzed by a CASA-Morph system for eight morphometric parameters. In addition to the ＂classical＂ statistical approach, based on variance analysis （revealing differences between animals, ejaculates, and straws）, principal component （PC） analysis showed that the variables were grouped into PC1, related to size, and PC2 to shape. Subpopulation structure analysis showed four groups, namely, big, small, short, and narrow from their dominant characteristics, representing 31.0%, 27.3%, 24.1%, and 17.7% of the total population, respectively. The distributions varied between animals and ejaculates, but between straws, there were no differences in only four animals. This modern approach of considering an ejaculate sperm population as divided into subpopulations reflecting quantifiable parameters generated by CASA-Morph systems technology opens a new view on sperm function. This is the first study applying this approach to evaluate different ejaculates and straws from the same individual. More work must be done to improve seminal dose calculations in assisted reproductive programs.

The shortfin mako shark(Isurus oxyrinchus)is one of the fastest marine fishes,reaching speeds of up to 70 km·h^-*** speed is related to the skin surface design composed of dermal *** vary in size and shape according to placement on the body and minimize turbulence around the *** objective of this study is to analyze the interaction between seawater flow and denticles on the dorsal ***-resolution microscopy(scanning electron microscopy and confocal microscopy)were used to measure defined parts of the dermal *** measurements,along with ratios based on length-to-width define three morphologies(rounded,semi-rounded,long)that were 3d *** fluid dynamics simulated fluid passage over reconstructed denticles and describe hy-drodynamic efficiency under different *** increase in angle of inclination produced a relevant increase in the drag coefficient,especially for high velocity *** lowest drag coefficient values were found in long and semi-rounded,followed by rounded *** hydrodynamic behavior of shark skin demonstrates a relation to the morphological characteristics of dermal denticles on the dorsal *** is concluded that the best hydroefficiency relies on the rounded morphology and may serve to design hydrodynamically efficient surfaces or manmade assemblies.

The hair follicle is a biological oscillator that alternates growth,regression,and rest phases driven by the sequential activation of the proliferation differentiation programs of resident stem cell *** activation of hair follicle stem cell niches and subsequent entry into the growing phase is mainly regulated by Wnt/β-catenin signalling,while regression and resting phases are mainly regulated by Tgf-β/Bmp/Smad activity.A major question still unresolved is the nature of the molecular switch that dictates the coordinated transition between both signalling *** we have focused on the role of Endoglin(Eng),a key co-receptor for members of the Tgf-β/Bmp family of growth *** an Eng haploinsufficient mouse model,we report that Eng is required to maintain a correct follicle cycling pattern and for an adequate stimulation of hair follicle stem cell *** further report thatβ-catenin binds to the Eng promoter depending on Bmp ***,we show thatβ-catenin interacts with Smad4 in a Bmp/Eng-dependent context and both proteins act synergistically to activate Eng promoter *** observations point to the existence of a growth/rest switching mechanism in the hair follicle that is based on an Eng-dependent feedback cross-talk between Wnt/β-catenin and Bmp/Smad signals.

In this paper,we develop and study numerical methods for the two-mode shallow water equations recently proposed in[***,***,and ***,*** dynamics,22(2008),pp.407–432].designing a reliable numerical method for this system is a challenging task due to its conditional hyperbolicity and the presence of nonconservative *** present several numerical approaches—two operator splitting methods(based on either Roe-type upwind or central-upwind scheme),a central-upwind scheme and a path-conservative centralupwind scheme—and test their performance in a number of numerical *** obtained results demonstrate that a careful numerical treatment of nonconservative terms is crucial for designing a robust and highly accurate numerical method。

The aluminothermic reduction of zinc oxide（ZnO） from alkaline battery anodes using molten Al may be a good option for the elaboration of secondary 7000-series alloys. This process is affected by the initial content of Mg within molten Al, which decreases the surface tension of the molten metal and conversely increases the wettability of ZnO particles. The effect of initial Mg concentration on the aluminothermic reduction rate of ZnO was analyzed at the following values： 0.90wt%, 1.20wt%, 4.00t%, 4.25wt%, and 4.40wt%. The ZnO particles were incorporated by mechanical agitation using a graphite paddle inside a bath of molten Al maintained at a constant temperature of 1123 K and at a constant agitation speed of 250 r/min, the treatment time was 240 min and the ZnO particle size was 450？500 mesh. The results show an increase in Zn concentration in the prepared alloys up to 5.43wt% for the highest initial concentration of Mg. The reaction products obtained were characterized by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction, and the efficiency of the reaction was measured on the basis of the different concentrations of Mg studied.

One of the main issues concerning the standard Vortex Lattice Method is its application to partially or fully detached flow conditions,where non-linear aerodynamic characteristics appear as the angle of attack increases and/or the aspect ratio *** order to solve such limitations,a pure numerical approach based entirely on the Vortex Lattice Method concepts has been *** so-called steady“Full Multi-wake Vortex Lattice Method”comes from the main hypothesis that each discretized element on the body’s surface detaches their own wakes *** obtained results match for lift,drag and moment coefficients for the entire aspect ratio range configurations(under straight wakes and inviscid assumptions).Future unsteady versions of such a multi-wake approach could improve the current results obtained through Vortex Element Methods(as vortons or isolated vortex filaments).
