BACKGROUND Research concerning postoperative outcomes of confirmed coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)patients revealed unfavorable postoperative results with increased morbidity,pulmonary complications and *** reports have suggested that COVID-19 is associated with more aggressive presentation of acute *** aim of the present study is to describe the perioperative assessment and postoperative outcomes of ten patients with confirmed severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)infection with concomitant acute cholecystitis who underwent *** SUMMARY We report a total of 10 SARS-CoV-2 positive patients with concomitant acute cholecystitis that underwent *** patients were males,the mean age was 47.1 *** patients had moderate acute cholecystitis,and one patient had severe acute *** patients were treated with urgent/early laparoscopic *** the Parkland grading scale,two patients received a Parkland grade of 3,two patients received a Parkland grade of 4,and six patients received a Parkland grade of *** patients required a bail-out *** patients developed biliary leakage and required endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography with biliary *** surgery,five patients developed acute respiratory distress syndrome(ARDS)and required intensive care unit(ICU)*** patient died after cholecystectomy due to ARDS *** mean total length of stay(LOS)was 18.2 *** histopathology demonstrated transmural necrosis(n=5),vessel obliteration with ischemia(n=3),perforation(n=3),and acute peritonitis(n=10).CONCLUSION COVID-19 patients with acute cholecystitis had difficult cholecystectomies,high rates of ICU admission,and a prolonged LOS.

Comparison of Linear and Nonlinear Properties of Graphene and Silicene in Terahertz Range

Resonant linear and nonlinear properties in terahertz range of 2D materials graphene and silicene placed into a bias magnetic field are investigated theoretically on the base of the quasi-classical kinetic theory. When the electromagnetic frequency is close to the cyclotron one, the linear conductivity increases two orders. Under the resonant frequencies nonlinearity becomes essential at low magnitudes of terahertz electric fields. In absence of a bias magnetic field the nonlinear dependences of the surface electric currents on terahertz electric field are practically the same simulated from kinetics and electron hydrodynamics with nonzero “kinetic” electron effective mass. Graphene possesses higher values of nonlinearity of the resonant conductivity, whereas in absence of a bias magnetic field, the electron nonlinearity is higher in silicene.

墨西哥是拉丁美洲经济大国和世界重要的矿业生产国。本文首次根据墨西哥全境全球尺度地球化学填图287件深层(C层)土壤组合样品铜元素含量测试结果,制作了1∶8000000 C层土壤铜地球化学图,从全球尺度角度研究了墨西哥C层土壤铜地球化学背景和空间分布特征,圈定了墨西哥铜主要地球化学异常,主要取得如下结论:(1)墨西哥全球尺度C层土壤铜含量为3.6~129.0μg/g,铜含量平均值和中位值分别为20.3和15.9μg/g,背景值为15.6μg/g。恰帕斯高原和南马德雷岛弧带构造单元中铜的中位值显著大于其他构造单元,背景值高于全境背景值。(2)墨西哥全球尺度C层土壤铜地球化学图显示,铜含量分布不均,总体呈南高北低、西高东低的格局。(3)墨西哥全球尺度C层土壤铜地球化学异常图共圈定铜地球化学异常10处,8处达到地球化学巨省规模,两处达到地球化学省规模。从铜地球化学信息和已有矿床的套合情况来看,墨西哥南部南马德雷山脉和恰帕斯山脉可能成为墨西哥铜的重要找矿远景区。

Incorporation of the 8^th Edition AJCC/TNM Staging of Carcinoma of the Appendix into the esquivel Peritoneal Surface Disease Severity Score (E-PSDSS) in 229 Patients with Mucinous Appendiceal Neoplasms

Introduction: A practical staging classification that has prognostic significance in mucinous appendiceal neoplasms represents an unmet need in oncology. The purpose of this study is to present a second edition of the PSDSS in mucinous appendiceal neoplasms with or without peritoneal dissemination based on the AJCC/TNM 8th edition. Materials and Methods: We analyzed 229 patients based on the AJCC/TNM 8th edition incorporating G (grade) and E (extent of disease). The impact of these 5 clinicopathological variables (T, N, M, G, E) is scored as stages 0 to IV and is reported as the esquivel Peritoneal Surface Disease Severity Score (E-PSDSS). Results: One hundred and seventy-three patients underwent cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and HIPEC. There were 30 (13.1%), 56 (24.4%), 48 (20.9%), 20 (8.7%) and 75 (32.7%) patients with E-PSDSS 0, I, II, III, and IV, respectively. Five-year overall survival was 100%, 100%, 84.46%, 52.29% and 12.92% for E-PSDSS 0, I, II, III and IV, respectively (p Conclusion: The E-PSDSS combines specimen examination and reporting according to the College of American Pathologists with the pTNM requirements from the AJCC staging manual. It represents an important prognostic indicator in patients with mucinous appendiceal neoplasms.

Collision Neoplasms of the Vermiform Appendix

Neoplasms of the vermiform appendix represent 1% of all gastrointestinal tumors, with epithelial and neuroendocrine histological subtypes being the most frequent. When two or more neoplasms with different components originate synchronically in the appendix with clear margin between them, it is called a collision tumor, with exceptional cases being reported in literature. The purpose is to present two new cases of collision tumors of the appendix and perform a review of the published literature. Two cases of an 82-year-old female and a 41-year-old male with collision tumors of the vermiform appendix are presented, with clinical presentation, radiological evaluation and surgical treatment exposed. Our results are compared with other published reports. In accordance with the other reported cases, both patients presented with low-grade appendiceal mucinous neoplasm (LAMN). Female patient with synchronous goblet cell carcinoma managed with a completion right colectomy and Hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) and the other patient with well-differentiated neuroendocrine (NET) tumor managed with laparoscopic appendectomy without adjuvant treatment. Since very few cases have been reported, no diagnostic and therapeutic consensus and guidelines exist up to date. We agree that local, regional, and systemic therapies should be chosen according to the tumor that represents the worst prognosis.

According to World Health Organization(WHO)estimates,in 2020,there were 1.8 million human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)-infected children below 15 years old living with HIV and 150,000 children who acquired the infection[1].Every year,110,000 children die as a consequence of acquired immune deficiency syndrome-related causes[2].As in adults,optimal management of infected children depends on early diagnosis and treatment with antiretroviral drugs based on their viral genotype.

Cave-adapted animals provide a unique opportunity to study the evolutionary mechanisms underlying phenotypic,metabolic,behavioral,and genetic evolution in response to cave *** Mexican tetra(Astyanax mexicanus)is considered a unique model system as it shows both surface and cave-dwelling *** date,at least 33 different cave populations have been identified,with phylogenetic studies suggesting an origin from at least two independent surface lineages,thereby providing a unique opportunity to study parallel *** the present study,we carried out the most exhaustive phylogeographic study of *** to date,including cave and surface localities,using two mitochondrial markers(cytochrome b(cyt b)and cytochrome c oxidase subunit I(COI))and nuclear rhodopsin visual pigment(rho).Additionally,we inferred the molecular evolution of rho within the two contrasting environments(cave and surface)and across three geographic regions(Sierra de El Abra,Sierra de Guatemala,and Micos).In total,267 individuals were sequenced for the two mitochondrial fragments and 268 individuals were sequenced for the rho visual pigment from 22 cave and 46 surface *** results based on the mitochondrial data supported the two-lineage hypothesis,except for the Pachón and Chica caves,whose introgression has been largely *** Sierra de El Abra region depicted the largest genetic diversity,followed by the Sierra de Guatemala *** the phylogeographic patterns of rho,we recovered exclusive haplogroups for the Sierra de El Abra(Haplogroup I)and Sierra de Guatemala regions(Haplogroup IV).Moreover,a 544 bp deletion in the rho gene was observed in the Escondido cave population from Sierra de Guatemala,reducing the protein from seven to three intramembrane *** change may produce a loss-of-function(LOF)but requires further *** nonsynonymous(dN)and synonymous(dS)substitution rates(omega valuesω),our results revealed

Effect of magnesium on the aluminothermic reduction rate of zinc oxide obtained from spent alkaline battery anodes for the preparation of Al–Zn–Mg alloys

The aluminothermic reduction of zinc oxide（ZnO） from alkaline battery anodes using molten Al may be a good option for the elaboration of secondary 7000-series alloys. This process is affected by the initial content of Mg within molten Al, which decreases the surface tension of the molten metal and conversely increases the wettability of ZnO particles. The effect of initial Mg concentration on the aluminothermic reduction rate of ZnO was analyzed at the following values： 0.90wt%, 1.20wt%, 4.00t%, 4.25wt%, and 4.40wt%. The ZnO particles were incorporated by mechanical agitation using a graphite paddle inside a bath of molten Al maintained at a constant temperature of 1123 K and at a constant agitation speed of 250 r/min, the treatment time was 240 min and the ZnO particle size was 450？500 mesh. The results show an increase in Zn concentration in the prepared alloys up to 5.43wt% for the highest initial concentration of Mg. The reaction products obtained were characterized by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction, and the efficiency of the reaction was measured on the basis of the different concentrations of Mg studied.
