Detection of progesterone Receptor as a Method of Diagnosing Mammary Cancer in Female Dogs

Introduction: Canine mammary gland tumor is the most common type of neoplasia in non-ovariectomized bitches. Approximately 50% of tumors are malignant. Neoplasms originating from the mammary gland represent the most common neoplastic disease in canines in Veterinary Medicine. Aim: Relate the expression of the receptor to progesterone (pR) with the tumor stage of canine mammary carcinoma. Material and Methods: Analytical-cross-sectional study, samples of paraffinized tumor tissue obtained from 30 canine patients with breast cancer were used. The expression of pR was performed by immunohistochemical labeling, using murine anti-pR (anti-pR Biocare brand). A descriptive analysis was carried out with the results using the spss program. Results: The predominant histological subtype of breast cancer was tubular carcinoma with 12 patients, followed by papillary cystic carcinoma with 6 patients, solid carcinoma 5, carcinosarcoma 4 and comedocarcinoma 3. There was a significant trend between breast cancer subtypes, histological grade G1. Among the histopathological findings, the degree of invasion is related to the presence of tumor cells in adjacent lymph nodes, which is why it is a prognostic indicator. The expression of pR in the tumor tissue samples it was 42.8% positive versus 57.14% negative, of which 75% correspond to G1, 8.3% to G2 and 16.6% to G3. With respect to the relationship of the expression of pR vs type of tumor, it was found that 50% correspond to tubular carcinoma, 33.3% to papillary cystic carcinoma, 8.3% to solid carcinoma and 8.3% to comedocarcinoma. Conclusion: The hormone receptor was negative in more than half of the patients and histological grade is significantly associated with tumor subtypes, this study emphasizes the need to introduce receptor testing into our routine clinical practice to offer the best treatment for breast cancer.

standardizing MI-TLIF, a proposal for a Reproducible Technique

Background: Minimally invasive transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (MI TLIF) is a widely known and performed technique, however its versatility among different physicians continues to hinder its replication and results. Therefore, this study aimed to provide a step-by-step surgical guide to perform a safe MI-TLIF, based on the results obtained in patients operated on by a single surgeon over a period of 12 years. patients and methods: A retrospective, single center, longitudinal, and observational cohort study was conducted with 931 patients who underwent MI TLIF by a single surgeon between 2010 and 2022 using the technique described on this paper, each with a minimum follow-up of 12 months. Criteria included schizas classification, listhesis according to Meyerding classification, number of levels treated, cage size, and complications (screw repositioning or cerebrospinal fluid leak). patient clinical outcomes were assessed using the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI), Visual Analog scale (VAs) for pre- and postoperative radicular pain. Thin slice CT scans were used to assess the progression of the fusion using the Bridwell classification. In the statistical analysis, percentages, median, and interquartile range (IQR) were calculated. Results: Nine hundred and thirty one patients underwent MI TLIF using the technique described, eight hundred and eighty (94.5%) had a single level treated and fifty one (5.5%) had a 2 level procedure (982 levels), an 8mm cage was placed on five hundred and seventeenlevels (52.7%), six hundred and sixty three levels(67.6%) achieved grade I fusion, two hundred and sixty six levels (27.1%) achieved grade II fusion, 52 levels (5.3) achieved grade III fusion and one level (0.1) achieved a grade IV fusion or non-union. Revision surgery was performed on 3 patients (0.3%) for screw repositioning, cerebrospinal fluid leak was present on 2 patients during surgery and treated before closure. Academic stress Assessment Using Virtual Reality as an Educational Tool in spine surgery

Introduction: The evaluation of academic stress in medical students and residents is a topic of significant interest, given the considerable challenges they face during their learning process with traditional teaching methods. The use of technologies like virtual reality presents an opportunity to enhance their skills through simulations and training. The main objective of this study is to qualitatively assess the stress levels experienced by medical students and residents by integrating virtual reality into their current learning methods, aiming to improve their ability to manage stressors in their practice. Material and Methods: A questionnaire was conducted with 12 medical students and 12 Traumatology and orthopedics residents. The purpose of the questionnaire was to evaluate the levels of academic stress using the sIsCO inventory. The stress levels were calculated by transforming average values into percentages, and the following criteria were assigned: 0 to 33% for Mild stress, 34 to 66% for Moderate stress, and 67 to 100% for Deep stress. Then, a virtual reality class focused on spine surgery was provided. Both medical students and residents were trained using the Non Nocere sharpsurgeon software platform and Oculus Quest 2 virtual reality glasses. At the end of the session, a second questionnaire related to the practice with virtual reality was conducted with the same evaluation criteria and a comparative analysis was carried out. Results: 12 undergraduate students from Hospital Angeles Mexico, CDMX and 12 traumatology and orthopedics residents at Hospital santa Fe, Bogota were evaluated. The students in CDMX reported an average qualitative stress of 28.50% during habitual practices, which decreased to an average of 14.67% after virtual reality practice. Residents in Bogotá experienced an average qualitative stress of 30.50% with their current learning methods but this reduced to an average of 13.92% after using virtual reality. The increasing anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases(GHG)is encouraging extensive research in CO_(2)*** reforming of methane(DRM)depicts a viable strategy to convert both CO_(2)and CH4into syngas,a worthwhile chemical *** the different active phases for DRM,the use of nickel as catalyst is economically favourable,but typically deactivates due to sintering and carbon *** stabilisation of Ni at different loadings in cerium zirconate inorganic complex structures is investigated in this work as strategy to develop robust Ni-based DRM *** and TpR-H2analyses confirmed the existence of different phases according to the Ni loading in these ***,superficial Ni is observed as well as the existence of a CeNiO_(3)perovskite *** catalytic activity was tested,proving that 10 wt.%Ni loading is the optimum which maximises *** catalyst was also tested in long-term stability experiments at 600and 800℃in order to study the potential deactivation issues at two different *** 600℃,carbon formation is the main cause of catalytic deactivation,whereas a robust stability is shown at 800℃,observing no sintering of the active phase evidencing the success of this strategy rendering a new family of economically appealing CO_(2)and biogas mixtures upgrading catalysts.

self and Foreign substances in Organic and Conventional Milk produced in the Eastern Region of Mexico

The objective of the present study was to evaluate the physicochemical properties, presence of water and aflatoxin M1, as well as the effect of the time of year (dry or rainy season) to value the quality and safety of conventional and organic raw milk samples. samples were collected of conventional (n = 12) and organic (n = 11) raw milk from Tizayuca, Hidalgo and from Tuxpan, Veracruz, respectively. Infrared spectrophotometry and other analytical techniques were employed, approved by the International Dairy Federation for the analysis of the physicochemical properties, the cryoscopy technique for the detection of water addition, and high performance liquid chromatography for the determination of aflatoxin M1. Results showed that there are no significant differences in the components of conventional milk in the season of the year, whereas in organic milk a significant difference (p 0.05) was observed in acidity during the seasons of the year (rainy and dry), as well as a decrease in the percentage of lactose in the dry season, with a significant difference (p 0.05). The means of the cryoscopic point of the milk samples complied with the limits established in the Mexican Official Norm (–0.530, –0.560°H) for milk and no effect was found of the time of year on this variable. Of the milk samples, 50% of the conventional milk and 54.55% of organic milk were above the maximum limits permitted for aflatoxin M1, established in Mexico (0.5 μg·Kg-1).

soil resilience assessment using soil profile descriptions and Analytic Hierarchy process in Mediterranean mountains considering diverse fire occurrences

Wildfires are complex natural phenomena that exert significant impacts on landscapes,societies,and *** the concept of resilience is crucial in mitigating its possible negative impacts,as it involves preparing for,responding to,and recovering from *** research aims to demonstrate the utility of in situ soil profile description in assessing land use resilience using an Analytic Hierarchy process(AHp)through an expert panel *** study examines a catchment located in the Balearic Islands,considering two fire occurrences(once and twice),comparing abandoned agricultural terraces and natural *** results demonstrated that the priority ranking of variables to assess soil profile resilience against wildfires,determined by a panel of 10 experts,identified horizon depth(25.1%),slope inclination(21.5%),and hydrological connectivity(16.6%)as the most crucial *** variables,such as number and size of roots,structure of pedal soil material,size class structure,and rock fragments,also contributed to resilience but to a lesser extent,with scores ranging from 5.7%to 9.6%.Analyzing the priorities established by the experts using AHp,the results showed that the least resilient soil horizon was H1 of the control hillslope,especially under high and low connectivity processes,which aligned with the loss of superficial soil horizons after one and two *** showed greater changes in resilience after occurring wildfires compared to terraces,with the most significant alterations occurring after the second wildfire *** study addresses a significant knowledge gap in the field by highlighting the interconnectedness of wildfires,resilience,and land use,providing insights into land management strategies for wildfire-prone regions.
