Herein,we have presented a supercapacitor based on carbide derived carbon（CDC） electrode with natural graphite（NG） *** capacitor was analyzed at 22°C by cyclic voltammetry,galvanostatic charge-discharge and impedance techniques using a 0.5 mol/L of magnesium（II）bis（trifluoro methanesulfonyl） imide（Mg TFsI） in ethylene carbonate-propylene carbonate（EC ：PC = 1 ：1,v/v） as *** results conclude that the CDC cell enhancements have been proven by the composite electrode（5%–30% NG to CDC） especially on the cell efficiency and voltage i.e.,the CDC cell around 2.5 V limit was *** obtainable specific capacitance,real power and energy density are 15 F g-1,1.2 k W kg-1and 15 Wh kg-1,respectively.

Glacial cirques are typical landscape features of mid-latitude mountain environments like the Central Pyrenees. Their morphology as well as their spatial distribution provides insights about past glaciers and climates. In this study, we examine the distribution, morphometrical and topographical characteristics of glacial cirques in two U-shaped glacial valleys located in the Central Pyrenees – the Aran and the Boí valleys. They are located in different aspects of this mountain range(north vs south) under different climatic influences that promoted distinct glaciation patterns during the late Pleistocene. The spatial mapping of these landforms was carried out using high-resolution imagery and field observations. We analysed the data of the morphometrical and topographical variables of the glacial cirques by using different statistical and geospatial methods in order tounveil the factors controlling their formation and development. A total of 186 glacial cirques were mapped in the study area, including 119 in the Aran and 67 in the Boí valleys. The local topography and microclimate conditions lead to substantial differences in both areas in terms of the morphology and dimensions of the cirques. Glacial cirques in Boí are distributed at slightly higher elevations than in Aran and they are also larger, though their dimensions decrease with elevation in both valleys. Aran cirques are mostly oriented NE, while Boí landforms do not show any prevailing aspect. Even though lithology does not control the distribution of the glacial cirques, some specific lithological settings may favour the development of larger cirques. In general, glacial cirques in the Aran and the Boí valleys show morphometrical properties similar to those reported in other mid-latitude mountain ranges.

Epidemiological, Clinical, and Evolutionary Profile of Children Admitted to the Pediatric Emergency Department of the Maroua Regional Hospital, Cameroon

Introduction: Pediatric emergencies in developing countries are associated with high morbidity and mortality. The Maroua Regional Hospital (MRH) is one of the referral centers for pediatric emergencies in the Far north region of Cameroon. Pediatric emergencies are frequent in Maroua and are associated with significant mortality. The aim of our study is to determine the epidemiological, clinical, and evolutionary profile of children admitted to the pediatric emergency department of the HRM. Methods: We conducted an observational, descriptive, and retrospective study over a period from April 10, 2023 to April 10, 2024, focusing on the records of patients admitted to the pediatric emergency department of the MRH. The variables studied included epidemiological, clinical, and evolutionary characteristics. Data analysis was performed using CsPro version 8.01 and sPss version 27.0. Results: We included 1027 patients;the sex ratio was 1.2 infants under 2 years represented 54.33%. The main reasons for consultation were fever (62.22%) and seizures (30.18%). The most frequently prescribed additional test was the Complete Blood Count (CBC), performed in 97.37% of cases. The most common pathologies were severe malaria (45.18%), broncho-pulmonary infections (15.48%), and bacterial meningitis (12.26%). At admission, 32.9% were transfused. There were 68 deaths, representing 6.67%, and 86% of the deaths occurred within 24 hours of admission. The leading cause of death was severe malaria, with 28 (41.17%) cases. Conclusion: Febrile illnesses were the main reason for consultation, and mortality was linked to severe malaria. Therefore, in addition to the other preventive methods already used against malaria, it is recommended to consider the use of the malaria vaccine.

Introduction: severe acute malnutrition remains one of the most important causes of under-five mortality. In Cameroon, the northern regions have the highest prevalence, with 1.4% in the Far North in 2021. These children are managed at the Internal therapeutic and Nutrional Centre, one of which is located at Maroua Regional Hospital, the third level referral Hospital. We therefore proposed to carry out a study on the clinical and evolutive aspects of these children. Materials and Methods: it was a descriptive, cross-sectional study from January 2020 to December 2022, at the ITNC (CNTI) of Maroua Regional Hospital. The sample size was obtained from the Lorentz formula. Patient records were used for data collection. We excluded all incomplete records and patients with less than 24 hours of admission. Results: Out of the 873 patients we recruited, the prevalence of severe malnutrition was estimated at 18 %. The average age was 14 months, with a male predominance. The main reasons for consultation were fever (42%) and diarrhoea (35%). Marasmus was the predominant clinical form. The major medical complications were sepsis (32.9%) and malaria (16.8%). HIV prevalence was 2.5% and tuberculosis was 4.9%. Most patients had haemoglobin levels between 7 and 10g/dl. 79.3% were cured and 6.5% died. The main causes of death were sepsis and malaria. Conclusion: severe acute malnutrition remains a major problem in the Far North region. several joint actions are needed to break this cycle.

Introduction: Measles remains a worrying health problem in sub-saharan African countries. There have been measles outbreaks in Cameroon with the most recent occurring between October 2022 and september 2023. The Centre region of Cameroon was the most affected in the country and being at the frontline of the fight against this illness, we conducted this study in order to determine the epidemiological and clinical characteristics as well as the outcome of children who contracted the measles and were hospitalized at the Yaoundé Gynaeco-Obstetric and Pediatric Hospital. Methodology: We conducted a cross-sectional descriptive and prospective study for one year from October 2022 to November 2023 corresponding to the duration of the outbreak. We included all children admitted in the pediatric unit for measles and its complications during this period. Results: In total, 60 children were enrolled. Their caregivers were mostly their mothers who had a mean age of 34.71 ± 9.55 years living in significant precarious conditions for the majority. The median age of children was 16 months (09 - 30 months). Twenty six percent of children (16) were less than 9 months. Girls were predominant (55%). Most children were not up to date with their routine EPI vaccination (80%) and most did not receive the measles and Rubella vaccine (76.67%). Clinical manifestations, included fever, conjunctivitis, and cough. skin rash and catarrh (98.33% and 86.67% respectively) are the case definition signs of measles. The outcome was unfavorable for 4 children. One had a neurological disorder: coma and three presented with pneumonia and severe respiratory distress (6.67%). Conclusion: Measles is still being a reality and claiming lives in our context, emphasis should be made on immunization coverage and if possible, advocacies should be formulated to decrease the age of measles vaccine administration.

Barrett's esophagus is a condition resulting from chronic gastro-esophageal reflux disease with a documented risk of esophageal adenocarcinoma. Current strategies for improved survival in patients with Barrett's adenocarcinoma focus on detection of dysplasia. This can be obtained by screening programs in high-risk cohorts of patients and/or endoscopic biopsy surveillance of patients with known Barrett's esophagus (BE). several therapies have been developed in attempts to reverse BE and reduce cancer risk. Aggressive medical management of acid reflux, lifestyle modifications, antireflux surgery, and endoscopic treatments have been recommended for many patients with BE. Whether these interventions are cost-effective or reduce mortality from esophageal cancer remains controversial. Current treatment requires combinations of endoscopic mucosal resection techniques to eliminate visible lesions followed by ablation of residual metaplastic tissue. Esophagectomy is currently indicated in multifocal high-grade neoplasia or mucosal Barrett's carcinoma which cannot be managed by endoscopic approach.
