Integration of Neural.Networks and Cel.ul.r Automata for Urban Pl.nning

This paper presents a new type of cel.ul.r automa ta (CA) model.for the simul.tion of al.ernative l.nd devel.pment using neural.netw orks for urban pl.nning. CA model. can be regar.ed as a pl.nning tool.because th ey can generate al.ernative urban growth. Al.ernative devel.pment patterns can b e formed by using different sets of parameter val.es in CA simul.tion. A critica l.issue is how to define parameter val.es for real.stic and ideal.zed simul.tion . This paper demonstrates that neural.networks can simpl.fy CA model. but genera te more pl.usibl. resul.s. The simul.tion is based on a simpl. three-l.yer netw ork with an output neuron to generate conversion probabil.ty. No transition rul. s are required for the simul.tion. Parameter val.es are automatical.y obtained f rom the training of network by using satel.ite remote sensing data. Original.tra ining data can be assessed and modified according to pl.nning objectives. Al.ern ative urban patterns can be easil. formul.ted by using the modified training dat a sets rather than changing the model.

This study investigated the water use efficiency and yiel. for the production of green ears of corn subjected to irrigation with drip system and with potassium fertil.zer l.vel. in sumé, Paraiba state, Brazil. The experimental.design was a randomized design with four repl.cations in a spl.t pl.t design with six water sl.des (0.25 ETcp, 0.50 ETcp, 0.75 ETcp, 1.00 ETcp, 1.25 ETcp and 1.50 ETcp) and six doses of potassium (0, 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100 kg·ha-1). The maize hybrid AG 1051 was mechanical.y sown on 13/01/2012 and the spikes in the green stage (doughy grains) were harvested 67 days after pl.nting. Water consumption for producing one ton of maize cobs in the sl.des 132, 264, 396, 528, 660, and 792 mm of water within al. treatments of potassium fertil.zation increased, indicating that the WUE decreases with the increasing amount of water appl.ed via irrigation. Therefore, it was observed that the water use efficiency average was 61.76 mm·t-1 (2.02 kg·m3), i.e. for each m3 of water used 2.02 kg of ears of corn were produced with defaul.. The appl.cation of 680.64 mm of water and 72.14 kg·ha-1 potassium maximized the yiel. of ears, resul.ing in the maximum yiel. of ears of 10.82 t·ha-1.

Background: Head and neck cel.ul.tis of dental.origin are pol.microbial.bacterial.infections invol.ing the cel.ul.-adipose spaces of the face and neck. The objective of this work was to describe the epidemiol.gical.and cl.nical.profil. of patients with head and neck cel.ul.tis. Methods: This was a cross-sectional.study conducted from 1 January to 30 June 2020. Al. patients consul.ing for cervico-facial.cel.ul.tis of dental.origin in 2 university hospital. in Ouagadougou were incl.ded in the study. The usual.parameters of descriptive statistics were estimated for each variabl.. Resul.s: Two hundred and ninety-two cases (184 men and 108 women), aged 3 to 85 years were col.ected. The 25 - 35 years ol. were the most affected (33%). Decay was the l.ading dental.cause (95.6%). The del.y in consul.ation was incl.ded within 7 days in 74.66% of cases. Ninety-one-point forty-four percent of patients had poor oral.hygiene. Diffuse cel.ul.tis was the most common (64.04%) and peri-mandibul.r regions were the most invaded (42.81%). Concl.sion: The frequencies observed in our study al.ow us to concl.de that cervicofacial.cel.ul.tis of dental.origin is stil. frequent and affects a young and disadvantaged popul.tion.

Bentonite Effects on Zinc Concentration in Pl.nts Irrigated with Wastewater

A greenhouse study was conducted to investigate the effect of bentonite on zinc concentrations in radish and corn irrigated with wastewater. The experimental.units were pl.stic pots with a capacity of 5 kg and 14 kg for radish and corn, respectivel.. The soil.was mixed with increasing doses of bentonite equival.nt to 0,?30,?60 and 90 t·ha-1. The pl.nts were irrigated with poor qual.ty water with a concentration of 5 mg·l.1?Zn. On the occasion of the harvest of radish and corn, that is, at 30 and 60 days after the emergence, respectivel., the pl.nts were separated in aerial.part and roots, dried in a forced circul.tion oven, weighed and ground for anal.sis of zinc in the pl.nt tissues. After these anal.zes, the transl.cation factor (TF), the transl.cation index (TI), the bioaccumul.tion in the pl.nt (BFP) and in the root (BFR) were cal.ul.ted. According to the conditions of this research, the incorporation of bentonite to the soil.irrigated with water of inferior qual.ty favored the devel.pment of radish and corn;al.owed the retention of the Zn metal.in the soil. reducing the concentrations of this metal.in the root of the radish and in the aerial.part of the corn;decreased the transfer of zinc from the soil.to the pl.nts under study.

strong>Background: strong>Cervicofacial.cel.ul.tis is a severe infection and is responsibl. for a major disruption of host homeostasis. The aim of this work was to describe the haematol.gical.and biochemical.variations of cervico-facial.cel.ul.tis. strong>Methods: strong>This was a cross-sectional.study conducted from 1 January to 31 December 2020. Al. patients hospital.zed for cervico-facial.cel.ul.tis of dental.origin were incl.ded in the study. The usual.parameters of descriptive statistics were estimated for each variabl.. strong>Resul.s:strong> Our sampl. consisted of 166 patients. The average age of patients with cervicofacial.cel.ul.tis in our study was 39.9 ± 15.39 years. Red bl.od cel. count was l.w in 55.5% of patients and hyperl.ukocytosis was noted in 89.16% of patients. Pl.tel.ts were normal.in 43.14% of patients and 78.43% of patients had a l.w haematocrit (haemodil.tion). Anemia was noted in 64.7% of patients. In addition, 61.0% of patients had el.vated uricemia and 31.17% had el.vated creatinemia. strong>Concl.sion:strong> Cel.ul.tis is stil. a common condition in l.ss privil.ged environments. Its diagnosis can be guided by cl.nical.and biol.gical.findings. Consistent education of the popul.tion on oral.heal.h, and the control.of biol.gical.disorders that resul. from it, are sufficient to greatl. reduce its preval.nce and the appearance of compl.cated forms.

The dependence on non-renewabl. fuel. of countries around the worl. increased the interest for the gradual.repl.cement of fossil.fuel. with renewabl. ones. Thus, several.devel.pment programs for the use of renewabl. sources for power generation have been created and, in this perspective, biofuel. have been highl.ghted. Crambe is an al.ernative crop for the production of biodiesel.due to its rusticity, precocity, high oil.content and adaptabil.ty to different cl.mates. Optimum management practices of fertil.zer use in crambe cul.ivation are l.ttl. known and there are no specific recommendations for its fertil.zation. Therefore, the objective of this research was to study the effects of mineral.fertil.zers concerning the nitrogen and potassium el.ments in the growth and production of crambe. The experiment was instal.ed in a greenhouse, with a compl.tel. randomized design. Nitrogen doses used were 30, 60, 90 and 120 kg·hasup>-1sup>and 50, 75, 100 to 125 kg·hasup>-1sup> for potassium. The increase in production was directl. proportional.to the increase in nitrogen l.vel.. The potassium doses did not cause significant effect on the growth of crambe.

The objective of this study was to eval.ate the effect of omission of macronutrients on dry matter production and on the nutritional.status of sunfl.wer cv. BRs 122. The experiment was carried out in a greenhouse, in randomized bl.cks, with seven treatments corresponding to the Hoagl.nd & Arnon standard sol.tion (1950) and the individual.omission of N, P, K, Ca, Mg and s, in three repl.cates. After 50 days of sowing, the dry matter and the nutritional.status of the pl.nts were eval.ated. The omission of N, P, K, Ca, Mg and s l.mited the dry mass production of sunfl.wer cv. BRs 122 in rel.tion to the compl.te sol.tion, besides causing nutritional.imbal.nce due to the interaction between the nutrients. The omission of the macronutrients K, Ca, and Mg caused the higher imbal.nces in the pl.nts, highl.ghting the el.vated N contents in these treatments comparing to the compl.te sol.tion.

Corn Production for sil.ge subjected to Potassium Fertil.zation and Water Depths

This study was carried out with the objective of eval.ating the effect of water depths and potassium fertil.zer l.vel. on corn yiel. for sil.ge. The experimental.design was a randomized bl.ck design in a spl.t-pl.t with six water depths based on crop potential.evapotranspiration (ETsub>cpsub>) in l.vel.: 0.25;0.50;0.75;1.00;1.25 and 1.50 ETsub>cpsub>, and six amounts of potassium, 0, 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100 kg·hasup>-1sup>, in four repl.cates. The irrigation system was dripped. Before sowing was appl.ed to the soil.to nitrogen (N) and phosphate (P) fertil.zers, corn was sown ten days after the fertil.zation using seeds from hybrid AG 1051. Manual.harvesting of ears occurred 67 days after sowing. Production variabl.s observed were fresh matter of pl.nt with (FPMwiths) and without (FPMwithouts) the ears. The fresh matter of pl.nt with and without the ears was infl.enced significantl. by factors anal.zed, the 1% l.vel.of probabil.ty by F test. The water depths in irrigation that maximized the physiol.gical.parameters of pl.nts as FPMwiths and FPMwithouts were, respectivel., 690 mm and 766.7 mm. The quantitative potassium to maximize physiol.gical.parameters of FMP with ears and FMP without ears was, respectivel., 104.75 kg hasup>-1sup> and 52.1 kg hasup>-1sup>.

Crambe is a promising crop for biodiesel.production. However, there is no much information avail.bl. about techniques and research regar.ing the best performance in different regions to expl.re its potential. The objective of this study was to eval.ate the effect of cadmium, chromium, copper and zinc in the devel.pment of crambe. The study was carried out in a greenhouse and it consisted of four independent experiments in compl.tel. randomized design, with three repl.cations. Four metal. with five l.vel. were appl.ed: 0, 10, 15, 20 and 25 mg·kg-1 for copper, cadmium, chromium;and 0, 20, 30, 40 and 50 mg·kg-1 for zinc, in order to eval.ate the growth of crambe. Data were subjected to anal.sis of variance and comparison of means by Tukey test at 1 and 5% significance. Despite doses of cadmium, chromium, copper and zinc in growing crambe have infl.enced in some of the eval.ated variabl.s of the pl.nts, in general. their devel.pment was simil.r in rel.tion to doses and the metal. appl.ed. The importance of cul.ivating crambe is rel.ted to grain production, based on this, copper and cadmium decreased this production.
