Radial Basis Function(RBF)kernels are key functional forms for advanced solutions of higher-order partial differential equations(PDEs).In the present study,a hybrid kernel was developed for meshless solutions of PDEs widely seen in several engineering *** kernel,Power-Generalized Multiquadric-Power-GMQ,was built up by vanishing the dependence of e,which is significant since its selection induces severe problems regarding numerical instabilities and convergence *** drawback of e-dependency is that the optimal e value does not exist in *** present the Power-GMQ kernel which combines the advantages of Radial Power and Generalized Multiquadric RBFs in a generic ***-GMQ RBF was tested in higher-order PDEs with particular boundary conditions and different ***-Finite Difference(RBF-FD)discretization was also implemented to investigate the characteristics of the proposed *** results revealed that our proposed kernel makes similar or better estimations as against to the Gaussian and Multiquadric kernels with a mild increase in computational ***-QR method may achieve better accuracy in some cases with considerably higher computational *** using Power-GMQ RBF,the dependency of solution on e was also substantially relaxed and consistent error behavior were obtained regardless of the selected e accompanied.

Background:Physical activity(PA)has substantial health benefits and is important in combatting chronic diseases,which have been associated with elevated levels of advanced glycation endproducts(AGEs).AGEs play a role in the aging process,and an association between PA and AGEs has been *** aimed to investigate the relationship between PA and AGE accumulation in a general population and in a population with chronic ***:This large cross-sectional population study used data from adult participants in the LifeLines project,with participant information drawn from the LifeLines database as well data from patients with diabetes mellitus or renal and/or cardiovascular *** AGE accumulation was assessed non-invasively by skin-autofluorescence(SAF)using an AGE reader(DiagnOptics Technologies BV,Groningen,the Netherlands).PA was assessed using the short questionnaire to assess health-enhancing physical activity(SQUASH).Multivariate linear regression analyses were adjusted for age,body mass index,sex,and smoking ***:Data from 63,452 participants(general population n=59,177,chronic disease n=4275)were *** general population was significantly younger(43.58±11.77 years,mean±SD)and had significantly lower SAF(1.90±0.42 arbitrary units(AU))compared to the population with chronic disease(age:55.51±12.07 years;SAF:2.27±0.51 AU).In the group with chronic disease,more hours of moderate to vigorous physical activities per week were associated with lower SAF(β=-0.002,95%confidence interval(95%CI):-0.002 to-0.001).For the general population,there was no association between hours of moderate to vigorous activity and SAF(β=3.2×10^(-5),95%CI:0.000-0.001,p=0.742).However,there was an association in the general population between total hours of PA per week and SAF(β=4.2×10^(-4),95%CI:0.000-0.001,p<0.001),but this association was not found in the chronic disease population(β=-3.2×10^(-4),95%CI:-0.001 to 0.000,p=0.347).Conclusion:Our study demons

In the context of ongoing densification of cities and aging urban populations,public spaces are a crucial infrastructure to support the physical and mental wellbeing of urban *** design of public space furniture elements is often standardised,and not considered in relation to environmental conditions and mechanisms of social *** article presents a digital workflow to generate site-specific designs for shaded public seating,considering the relationships of local public places to their surroundings.A strategy for customised and site-specific design is developed through the use of multiple software tools,employing evolutionary algorithms and multi-objective *** method is applied to a small public space canopy prototype installed within a public housing estate in Hong Kong,incorporating additional criteria to achieve a low-cost and light-weight *** multiple stages of refinement and optimisation,a material,structural and social performance-driven outcome was achieved that creates a shaded space for public seating,people watching and social *** part of a larger research agenda exploring architectural form-finding and environmental psychology,the project represents potential new applications in the emerging field of socially driven computational design.

Biallelic loss-of-function variants in ATM (Ataxia Telangiectasia Mutated) cause Ataxia Telangiectasia (AT), a rare disorder associated with cerebellar degeneration and ataxia, cancer predisposition, infertility, growth retardation, etc. ATM is a phosphoinositide 3-kinase-related kinase (PIKK) with a role in DNA repair and maintenance of genome stability. Studying a multisystem genetic disease like AT requires animal models to ascertain its pathogenesis at the level of tissues, organs and the organism. Due to its small size, cheap maintenance, large progeny, rapid development and initial transparency, zebrafish (Danio rerio) is an increasingly popular vertebrate model organism, suitable for genetic modifications and large-scale in vivo therapeutic screens as embryos are chemically permeable to small compounds. Currently, no zebrafish model for AT exists.1 We generated atm knock-outs through CRIPSR-Cas9 mutagenesis. We show that atm conserved its function as a tumour suppressor gene and is involved in gametogenesis and fertility. Therefore, this mutant is of great value for further studies investigating the role of atm in reproduction and tumorigenesis.

This research is devoted to the study of creep behavior of asphalt binder in hot *** binder was subjected to thermal cycles due to the variation of temperature from day to *** cycles produce a heating-cooling *** evaluate the effect of climate change in laboratory,the DSR(dynamic shear rheometer)was used,and the results found with the nine samples were *** thermal cycles led to aging and therefore hardening of the ***,a rheological model was proposed that can represent the curves obtained experimentally,where it is able to describe the creep behavior of binders tested.A new model is proposed that correlates well with the experimental curves,which is called A+2 K.

Understanding the sensitivity of tidal flats to environmental changes is ***,most studies rely on process-based models to systematically explain the morphodynamic evolution of tidal *** this study,we proposed an alternative empirical approach to explore tidal flat dynamics using statistical indices based on long-term time series of daily surface elevation *** elevation dynamic(SED)indices focus on the magnitude and period of surface elevation changes,while morphodynamic signature(MDS)indices relate sediment dynamics to environmental *** statistical analyses were applied to an intervention site in the Netherlands to determine the effect of recently constructed groynes on the tidal *** these analyses,we were able to(1)detect a reduction in the daily SED and(2)determine that the changes in the daily SED were predominantly caused by the reduction in wave impact between the groynes rather than the reduction in tidal ***,the presented results showed that the combination of novel statistical indices provides new insights into the trajectories of tidal flats,ecosystem functioning,and sensitivity to physical drivers(wind and tides).Finally,we suggested how the SED and MDS indices may help to explore the future trajectories and climate resilience of intertidal habitats.

Written Corrective Feedback: A Case Study of One Teacher's Feedback on ESL Students' Initial and Final Drafts

Despite the heated research of written feedback(WF), few studies have explored the actual practice of English writing instructors in situ and even fewer studies report teachers’ feedback practice on students’ initial draft and final draft separately. Therefore, this case study, through analyzing the WF provided on students’ initial and final drafts in situ in America and the data drawn from the interview, explores one writing teacher’s practice of providing WF and the(mis)match between her cognition and practice. The results show that the participant employed such WF strategies as underlining rubrics and written commentaries to provide positive feedback, negative feedback, and suggestions for improvement on both drafts. The feedback targeted students’ writing content, organization, and language on both drafts, but the feedback foci differed. The feedback on language changed from general to specific and the number increased significantly. Moreover, differing from most previous research, the teacher’s cognition matched with her practice. This current study may offer some insights into tailoring one’s feedback practice to students’ different drafts and into how to provide balanced and sufficient feedback for students.
