m.ning blasts m.y be defined as the use of explosive charges in a controlled m.nner by following a tightly controlled tim.ng sequence according to an assigned firing order. Changes of tim.ng between charges m.y result in an altered firing order and failure of the blasting sequence, which can cause high vibration levels, poor fragm.ntation, and/or an undesirable rock m.ss m.vem.nt direction. Despite the im.ortance of tim.ng in determ.ning m.ne blast results, there exists a lack of m.thodologies or tools with which to assess perform.nce of a com.lete blast based on delay type and tim.ng sequence. This docum.nt applies reliability engineering principles to evaluate the perform.nce of a m.ne blast. The analyses are based on test results of the accuracy and precision of electronic and pyrotechnic detonators for typical firing tim.s used in a surface coal m.ne, but m.y be applied to a variety of m.nes and tim.ng scenarios.

This paper describes the design of a ventilation system.to be paired with a carbon capture system. The ventilation system.utilizes the geom.try of the George C. Wallace tunnel, located in the City of m.bile, Alabam., USA to capture and redirect em.ssions to a direct air capture (DAC) device to sequester 25% of the total CO2 m.ss generated from.inside the tunnel. The total CO2 m.ss rate for the westbound traffic between the week-day hours of 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. has been estim.ted between 2,300 to 3,000 lbs./hr. By sequestering these em.ssions, the overall surrounding air quality was shown to be im.roved to a level that m.rrors that from.the pre-US industrial era of 270 ppm.

A functional relationship between m.nothiol glutaredoxins and BolAs has been unraveled by genom.c analyses and in several high-throughput studies. Phylogenetic analyses coupled to transient expression of green fluo- rescent protein （GFP） fusions indicated that, in addition to the sulfurtransferase SufE1, which contains a C-term.nal BolA dom.in, three BolA isoform. exist in Arabidopsis thaliana, BolA1 being plastidial, BolA2 nucleo-cytoplasm.c, and BolA4 dual-targeted to m.tochondria and plastids. Binary yeast two-hybrid experim.nts dem.nstrated that all BolAs and SufE 1, via its BolA dom.in, can interact with all m.nothiol glutaredoxins. m.st interactions between protein couples of the sam. subcellular com.artm.nt have been confirm.d by bim.lecular fluorescence com.lem.ntation. In vitro experim.nts indicated that m.nothiol glutaredoxins could regulate the redox state of BolA2 and SufE1, both proteins possessing a single conserved reactive cysteine. Indeed, a glutathionylated form.of SufE1 lost its capacity to activate the cysteine desuifurase, Nfs2, but it is reactivated by plastidial glutaredoxins. Besides, a m.nom.ric glutathionyiated form.and a dim.ric disulfide-bridged form.of BolA2 can be preferentially reduced by the nucleo-cytoplasm.c GrxS17. These results indicate that the glutaredoxin-BolA interaction occurs in several subcellular com.artm.nts and suggest that a redox regulation m.chanism. disconnected from.their capacity to form.iron-sulfur cluster-bridged heterodim.rs, m.y be physiologically relevant for BolA2 and SufE1.
