The formation of nitrogen-fixing no dules on legume roots requires the coordination of infection by rhizobia at the root epidermis with the initiation of cell divisions in the root *** infection,rhizobia attach to the tip of elongating root hairs which then curl to entrap the ***,the mechanism of root hair deformation and curling in response to symbiotic signals is still ***,we found that small GTPases(MtRac1/MtROP9 and its homologs)are required for root hair development and rhizobial infection in Medicago *** results show that the Nod factor receptor LYK3 phosphorylates the guanine nucleotide exchange factor MtRopGEF2 at S73 which is critical for the polar growth of root *** turn,phosphorylated MtRopGEF2 can activate *** MtRac1 was found to localize at the tips of root hairs and to strongly interact with LYK3 and *** together,our results support the hypothesis that MtRac1,LYK3,and NFP form a polarly localized receptor complex that regulates root hair deformation during rhizobial infection.

To investigate the long-term effect of dietary education on a low fermentable oligosaccharide, disaccharide and polyol (FOdMAP) diet on irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) symptoms and quality of life (QoL). METHOdSParticipants with IBS (Rome III) were randomized to two groups. Group I commenced a low FOdMAP diet at baseline. At three months, group II, so far a comparator group, crossed over to a low FOdMAP diet while group I started re-challenging foods. All patients completed the IBS SSS (IBS symptom severity scoring system, 0-500 points increasing with severity), IBS QoL questionnaire (0-100 increasing with QoL), a FOdMAP specific food frequency questionnaire and provided a stool sample at baseline, three and six months for microbiome analysis. RESULTSFifty participants were enrolled into group I (n = 23) or group II (n = 27). Participants in both groups were similar in baseline values but with more men in group I. There was a significantly lower IBS SSS (275.6 ± 63.6 to 128.8 ± 82.5 vs 246.8 ± 71.1 to 203.6 ± 70.1) (P d increased QoL (68.5 ± 18.0 to 83 ± 13.4 vs 72.9 ± 12.8 to 73.3 ± 14.4) (P duced IBS SSS was sustained at 6 mo in group I (160 ± 102) and replicated in group II (124 ± 76). Fiber intake decreased on the low FOdMAP diet (33 ± 17 g/d to 21 ± 8 g/d) (P d after re-introducing FOdMAP containing foods increased again to 27 ± 9 g/d. There was no change seen in the intestinal microbiome when participants adopted a low FOdMAP diet. CONCLUSIONThis study demonstrated that a reduction in FOdMAPs improves symptoms in IBS and this improvement can be maintained while reintroducing FOdMAPs.

AIM To assess for passive expansion of sub-maximally dilated transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunts(TIPS) and compare outcomes with maximally dilated *** Polytetrafluoroethylene covered TIPS(Viatorr) from July 2002 to december 2013 were retrospectively reviewed at two hospitals in a single institution. Two hundred and thirty patients had TIPS maximally dilated to 10 mm(m TIPS), while 43 patients who were at increased risk for hepatic encephalopathy(HE), based on clinical evaluation or low pre-TIPS portosystemic gradient(PSG), had 10 mm TIPS sub-maximally dilated to 8 mm(sm TIPS). Group characteristics(age, gender, Model for End-Stage Liver disease score, post-TIPS PSG and clinical outcomes were compared between groups, including clinical success(ascites or varices), primary patency,primary assisted patency, and severe post-TIPS HE. A subset of fourteen patients with sm TIPS underwent follow-up computed tomography imaging after TIPS creation, and were grouped based on time of imaging(d > 6 mo). Change in diameter and crosssectional area were measured with 3d imaging software to evaluate for passive *** Patient characteristics were similar between the sm TIPS and m TIPS groups, except for pre-TIPS portosystemic gradient, which was lower in the sm TIPS group(19.4 mm Hg ± 6.8 vs 22.4 mm Hg ± 7.1, P = 0.01). Primary patency and primary assisted patency between sm TIPS and m TIPS was not significantly different(P = 0.64 and 0.55, respectively). Four of the 55 patients(7%) with sm TIPS required TIPS reduction for severe refractory HE, while this occurred in 6 of the 218 patients(3%) with m TIPS(P = 0.12). For the 14 patients with follow-up computed tomography(CT) imaging, the median imaging follow-up was 373 d. There was an increase in median TIPS diameter, median percent diameter change, median area, and median percent area change in patients with CT follow-up greater than 6 mo after TIPS placement compared to follow-up within 6 mo(

＜正＞Carbon nanotubes are important building blocks for nanocomposite materials and nanomachinery due to their unique physical properties（electronic,optical,thermal,mechanical, etc.） and have received extensive interest in materials *** possible application is the use of carbon nanotubes as host structures for gas separation as they yield faster diffusion rates of fluid molecules than other widely used materials（e.g.,zeolites）.Several diffusion mechanisms are possible in narrow cylindrical pores,but these are still poorly *** the most important are ballistic motion,Fickian diffusion,and single-file *** motion occurs for very short times,before the molecule has had a chance to collide with anything. For longer times the motion becomes either Fickian or *** the pore is large enough, the molecules will diffuse in 3-dimensions as they would in a bulk fluid（Fickian diffusion）,but if the pore diameter becomes small enough the diffusion will crossover from Fickian to single-file diffusion,where the molecules can no longer pass each *** single-file motion is much slower than Fickian,which is much slower than ballistic.
