Sustainable transit vehicle tracking service,using intelligent transportation system services and emerging communication technologies:A review

The most salient problems of transit vehicle service in Latin American intermediate cities include:the high number of passengers involved in traffic accidents;traffic congestion caused by transit vehicles,and pollution generated by these vehicles,which increases in high congestion *** improve upon this situation,a research was conducted on the transit vehicle tracking service,which is a basic service for implementing mobility solutions for the aforementioned problems,the most relevant characteristics of this service for the context of Latin American intermediate cities were identified,and an implementation was *** paper presents the four stages of the study:(a)a review of the state-of-the-art of services or systems related to vehicle tracking,including wireless communications technologies,implemented sustainability approaches,usage of special algorithms for efficiency improvement,and the intelligent transportation system(ITS)architecture used as a basis;(b)the process of identifying relevant characteristics of the service for a given context;(c)proposal of an ITS architecture for this service in an intermediate city,its requirements and the suggested technologies;and(d)development of experiments for validating usage of the key suggested *** review allowed to identify the main service characteristics,with regard to vehicle positioning technologies,the recommended wireless communication technology(long range,LoRa),energy consumption considerations,and use of artificial intelligence(AI)to calculate waiting time of users at bus ***,an ITS architecture for the city of Popayan(Colombian city)considering the aforementioned characteristics is proposed,and the experiments related to the use of these technologies are described in detail.

The control of gene expression by transcriptional regulators and other types of functional y relevant DnA transactions such as chromatin remodeling and replication underlie a vast spectrum of biological processes in al organisms. DnA transactions require the control ed interaction of proteins with DnA sequence motifs which are often located in nucleosome-depleted regions （nDRs） of the chromatin. Formaldehyde-assisted isolation of regulatory elements （FAIRE） has been established as an easy-to-implement method for the isolation of nDRs from a number of eukaryotic organisms, and it has been successful y employed for the discovery of new regulatory segments in genomic DnA from, for example, yeast, Drosophila, and humans. Until today, however, FAIRE has only rarely been employed in plant research and currently no detailed FAIRE protocol for plants has been published. Here, we provide a step-by-step FAIRE protocol for nDR discovery in Arabidopsis thaliana. We demonstrate that nDRs isolated from plant chromatin are readily amenable to quantitative polymerase chain reaction and next-generation sequencing. Only minor modification of the FAIRE protocol wil be needed to adapt it to other plants, thus facilitating the global inventory of regulatory regions across species.

Bird Monitoring to Conserve Salitre Wetland in Bogotá： Strengthening Local Efforts in Conservation

Abstract： The Bogota Savannah was great Lake Humboldt 20,000 years ago. In the early 20th century, there were 50,000 ha of wetlands in Bogotá, but now this area has reduced to around 800 ha, due principally to human activities like industry, city-planning expansion, and agriculture. Actually, there are 13 wetlands and two lakes in Bogotá. SW （Salitre wetland） is an aquatic area that contains migratory and resident bird＇s species. Around this wetland, there are some urbanization and recreational areas that affect this natural habitat. Due to city-planning expansion, the city government wanted to build a great area to perform massive public events on the Salitre area. From June 2009 to June 2010, the researchers have made bird monitoring and recorded the SW as a very important habitat for birds; they demonstrated that this site offered them food and protection. Migratory species like Dendroica striata, Porzana carolina, Porphyrio martinica, Actitis macularia, Piranga rubra, Contopus cooperi and Contopus virens, inhabit this area. Most of the birds in SW use the area primarily for feeding and roosting, and the authors have recorded presence of eggs and chicks. In this way, the authors have demonstrated that this area is very important for migratory and resident birds. Currently, SW is in process to be officially designated as a wetland after many efforts. However, conservation and educational efforts should be taken into consideration for the protection and conservation of this wetland.

The influence of emissions of an active volcano on the composition of nanoparticles and ultrafine road dust was identified in an urban area of the *** many cities are close to active volcanoes,few studies have evaluated their influence in road dust *** quality in urban areas is significantly affected by nonexhaust emissions(*** dust,brake wear,tire wear),however,natural sources such as volcanoes also impact the chemical composition of the *** this study,elements from volcanic emissions such as Si>Al>Fe>Ca>K>Mg,and Si-Al with K were identified as complex ***,As,Hg,Cd,Pb,As,H,Cd,Pb,V,and salammoniac were observed in nanoparticles and ultrafine *** composition was detected in the order of quartz>mullite>calcite>kaolinite>illite>goethite>magnetite>zircon>monazite,in addition to salammoniac,a tracer of volcanic *** foregoing analysis reflects the importance of carrying out more studies relating the influence of volcanic emissions in road dust in order to protect human *** road dust load(RD_(10))ranged between 0.8 and 26.8 mg m^(−2)in the city.

The subcutaneous implantable cardioverter-defibrillator(S-ICD)has recently been approved for commercial use in Europe,new Zealand and the United *** is comprised of a pulse generator,placed subcutaneously in a left lateral position,and a parasternal subcutaneous lead-electrode with two sensing electrodes separated by a shocking *** an entirely subcutaneous system it avoids important periprocedural and long-term complications associated with transvenous implantable cardioverter-defibrillator(TV-ICD)systems as well as the need for fluoroscopy during implant *** candidates include pediatric patients with congenital heart disease that limits intracavitary lead placements,those with obstructed venous access,chronic indwelling catheters or high infection risk,as well as young patients with electrical heart disease(e.g.,Brugada Syndrome,long QT syndrome,and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy).nevertheless,given the absence of intracavitary leads,the S-ICD is unable to offer pacing(apart from shortterm post-shock pacing).It is therefore not suitable in patients with an indication for antibradycardia pacing or cardiac resynchronization therapy,or with a history of repetitive monomorphic ventricular tachycardia that would benefit from antitachycardia *** data from initial clinical studies and post-commercialization"real-life"case series,including over 700 patients,have so far been promising and shown that the S-ICD successfully converts induced and spontaneous ventricular tachycardia/ventricular fibrillation episodes with associated complication and inappropriate shock rates similar to that of ***,by using far-field electrograms better tachyarrhythmia discrimination when compared to TV-ICDs has been *** results from ongoing clinical studies will determine the S-ICD system’s long-term performance,and better define suitable patient profiles.

The importance of avoiding unnecessary right ventricular pacing in clinical practice

Symptomatic bradycardia is effectively treated with the implantation of a cardiac pacemaker. Although a highly successful therapy, during recent years there has been a focus on the negative effects associated with longterm pacing of the apex of the right ventricle(RV). It has been shown in both experimental and clinical studies that RV pacing leads to ventricular dyssynchrony, similar to that of left bundle branch block, with subsequent detrimental effects on cardiac structure and function, and in some cases adverse clinical outcomes such as atrial fibrillation, heart failure and death. There is substantial evidence that patients with reduced left ventricular function(LVEF) are at particular high risk of suffering the detrimental clinical effects of long-term RV pacing. The evidence is, however, incomplete, coming largely from subanalyses of pacemaker and implantable cardiac defibrillator studies. In this group of patients with reduced LVEF and an expected high amount of RV pacing, biventricular pacing(cardiac resynchronization therapy) devices can prevent the negative effects of RV pacing and reduce ventricular dyssynchrony. Therefore, cardiac resynchronization therapy has emerged as an attractive option with promising results and more clinical studies are underway. Furthermore, specific pacemaker algorithms, which minim.ze RV pacing, can also reduce the negative effects of RV stimulation on cardiac function and may prevent clinical deterioration.

Traffic accidents are one of the most serious problems worldwide,being one of the leading causes of death and economic loss in the ***-and middle-income countries,mainly their medium-sized cities,are among the most affected by this problem.93%of traffic accidents occur in low and middle-income countries,even though these countries have approximately 60%of the world’s *** occurs mainly because in these types of countries,especially in medium-sized cities(target context),there are no ideal conditions for driving,such as adequate road infrastructure,good condition of vehicles,and rigorous safety *** data analysis techniques including machine learning(ML)have increasingly been used to solve this *** driving(nD)can be applied as a data collection method that provides information on traffic *** commonly uses a vehicle’s kinematic data to detect high-risk driving behaviors that could cause an *** objectives of this document are to present a review of different alternatives that help in data collection and creation of intelligent solutions related to detection of possible traffic accidents,principally using nD;and to propose an intelligent collision risk detection system(ICRDS)for identification of areas with a high probability of TA in the target *** the review,it was possible to analyze and evaluate the devices,variables and algorithms that help characterize a risk event in driving,considering the target *** development of a prototype of an ICRDS for a medium-sized city in a developing country is considered viable,considering the identified components,with the aim of identifying risk events in driving,and areas of high probability of accidents in the city.
