Objectives:The purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of meridian massage in lessening the fatigue and improving both physical and mental quality of life of cancer *** and design:This study was conducted at the East-west Cancer Center at Daejeon University;Using a single-arm,waiting list and non-treatment control research de- sign,we compared the results of control group and to that of the experimental *** and methods:From july 2,2007 to july 28,2007,eighteen eligible cancer patients were recruited to participate in the *** Chalder Fatigue Scale(CFS),Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)and active oxygen level were measured before and after treatment for both control and experimental *** on their back or stomach inside a room with a temperature of 18-22℃,the pa- tients received 30 minutes of meridian massages mainly around the trapezius muscles 5 times a week. Statistical analysis used:Data analysis was carried out using independent t-test,paired t-test and One-way ANOVA. Results:Data analysis of modified CFS showed statistically significant results for all groups between before and after treat- *** CFS,results of physical and psychological analysis showed significant results for all groups except before and after no treatment and secondary *** the analysis of VAS,the experimental group showed a greater decrease in score compared to that of the control group and the average difference was statistically significant(Pwere not statistically significant(P>0.05),active oxygen levels for the control group showed little difference before and after no treatment(331.11 and 330.78,respectively)while the experimental group observed a decrease in active oxygen level before and after treatment(327.28 and 314.11,respectively).Conclusion:In conclusion,patients who received meridian massage showed decreased cancer related fatigue scores compared to the *** results sugge

This study was to develop the flame retardant (FR) protective clothing which had multifunction such anti-bacterial, UV cut, FR function with water repellent and water vapor permeable laminating textiles for industrial workers. First of all, the FR yarn and FR textiles were developed for this purpose. Second, the comparison analysis between the halogen laminating textiles and halogen-free laminating textiles were tested to figure out the eco-friendly laminating method. Third, the flame retardant ability was compared the halogen laminated textiles to halogen-free laminated textiles. LOI, UV protection ratio, antibiosis after 50 laundry test, water proof pressure, and moisture permeability of developed textiles were tested. GC-HR-TOF-MS was used for analysis of laminating film (halogen and halogen-free). 4.1 wt% TiO2 yarn showed antibacterial function (Pneumococcus & Staphylococcus aureus: 99.9%), UV Protection (UVA: 90.8, UVB: 92.1), and LOI (33.6). The chosen optimal compounding ratio for PU compound of HRF and HFFR were as followed: PU resin 58.3%, DMF (Dimethyl formamide, δ = 12.2) 8.3%, MEK (Methylethylketone) 8.3% and FR (flame retardants) 25.0%. Binder for laminating should not be included over 10% of FRs because of adhesion between textiles and FR laminating film. There were detected phosphorus compounds in the textiles treated by halogenated type flame retardants and halogenated-free type flame retardants. There were not any detected harmful compounds from all textile samples.

It is thought that there are many unregulated anthropogenic chemicals in the *** risk assessment of chemicals, it is essential to estimate the predicted environmental concentrations. As an effort of identifying residual organic contaminants in air and water in Korea, nontarget screening using two-dimensional gas chromatography time-of-flight mass spectrometry（GC × GC-TOFMS） was conducted at 10 sites using polyurethane foam passive air sampler and at 6 sites using polydimethyl siloxane（PDMS） passive water sampler in three different seasons in 2014. More than 600 chemical peaks were identified satisfying the identification criteria in air and water samples, respectively, providing a list for further investigation. Chemical substances with reported national emission rates in2014（n = 149） were also screened for potential existence in the environment using a level Ⅱ fugacity model. Most of chemical substances classified as not detectable were not identified with detection frequency greater than 20% by nontarget screening, indicating that a simple equilibrium model has a strong potential to be used to exclude chemicals that are not likely to remain in the environment after emissions from targeted monitoring.

Tip60 Tumor Suppressor Requires Its NLS Motif to Interact with Importin <i>α</i>

Tip60 is a specific member of MYST (Moz-Ybf2/Sas3-Sas2-Tip60) family of nuclear histone acetyltransferases (HAT). It is essential for cellular survival, differentiation, and metabolism. A putative canonical NLS motif between the chromo domain and the zinc finger of Tip60 was identified. Here we show evidence that Tip60 is associated with importin α as its substrate and transported from cytoplasm to the nucleus. Pull down assay revealed that Tip60 was physically associated with importin α both in vivo and in vitro. Confocal microscopic observation showed that Tip60 and importin α were co-localized with each other. The localization of Tip60 to the nuclear and its interaction with importin α was disrupted when its putative NLS motif for binding to importin α was mutated (219RKRK222 → 219AAAA222). However, attachment of this putative NLS motif to a cytoplasmic protein (YAP 1-210 fragment) promoted its nuclear localization. Based on transient transfection, Tip60 NLS motif mutant showed a substantial reduction in self-acetylation, HAT activity, and apoptotic ability whereas wild type Tip60 did not show such reduction. Taken together, our results demonstrate that importin α transports Tip60 from the cytoplasm to the nucleus through binding to the putative NLS motif of Tip60 for its tumor suppressing function.

INTERANNUAL ANOMALY IN TROPICAL CYCLONE FREQUENCY AROUND KOREA BY wESTERN NORTH PACIFIC MONSOON

In this study, the correlation between the frequency of summer tropical cyclones(TC) affecting areas around Korea over the last 37 years and the western North Pacifi c monsoon index(wNPMI) was analyzed. A clear positive correlation existed between the two variables, and this high positive correlation remained unchanged even when excluding El Ni?o-Southern Oscillation(ENSO) years. To investigate the causes of the positive correlation between these two variables, ENSO years were excluded, after which the 8 years with the highest wNPMI(strong wNPM phase) and the 8 years with the lowest wNPMI(weak wNPM phase) were selected, and the average difference between the two phases was *** the strong wNPM phase, TCs usually occurred in the eastern waters of the tropical and subtropical western North Pacifi c, and tended to pass the East China Sea on their way north toward Korea and japan. In the weak wNPM phase, TCs usually occurred in the western waters of the tropical and subtropical western North Pacifi c, and tended to pass the South China Sea on their way west toward the southeastern Chinese coast and the Indochina peninsula. Therefore, TC intensity was higher in the strong wNPM phase, during which TCs are able to gain suffi cient energy from the sea while moving a long distance to areas nearby Korea. TCs also tended to occur more often in the strong wNPM *** the difference between the two phases regarding 850 h Pa and 500 h Pa streamline, anomalous cyclones were reinforced in the tropical and subtropical western North Pacifi c, while anomalous anticyclones were reinforced in mid-latitude East Asian areas. Due to these two anomalous pressure systems, anomalous southeasterlies developed in areas near Korea, with these anomalous southeasterlies playing the role of anomalous steering fl ows making the TCs head toward areas near Korea. The TRPV4 cation channel is expressed in a broad range of tissues and participates in the generation of a Ca2+ signal and/or depolarization of membrane potential. Here, human phosphoglucomutase- 1 (PGM1), an enzyme that converts glucose-6 phosphate to glucose-1 phosphate in the glycolysis pathway, as the first auxiliary protein of TRPV4 Ca2+ channels, is identified with yeast two hybrid system, coimmunoprecipitation, confocal microscopy, and GST pull-down assays. TRPV4 forms a complex with PGM1 through its C-terminal cytoplasmic domain. Because it is demonstrated that TRPV4 serine residue 824 (S824) is phosphorylated by serum/glucocorticoid regulated kinase 1, we elucidate the effect of TRPV4 S824 phosphorylation on TRPV association with PGM1. Even an inactivated mutant version of TRPV4, S824A, exhibited a decreased ability to bind PGM1, an activated phosphomimetic mutant version of TRPV4, S824D, exhibited enhanced binding to PGM1. Thus, formation of the TRPV4/PGM1 complex and localization of this complex to the plasma membrane appear to be regulated by the phosphorylation status of residue S824 in TRPV4. The newly identified interactor of TRPV4 may help the molecular pathways modulating transport activity or glucose metabolism, respectively.

TRPV4 activity modulates cell activities including receptor trafficking and transcriptional or translational regulations. we tested its CRISPR/Cas9 scissor efficacy in HepG2 (HEK293) cell noticed that it worked well in both cell lines to eliminate TRPV4 genome sequences. To confirm TRPV4 functions in the cell morphology maintenance and cell growth (beyond Ca2+ channel), we compared its wound healing, cell surface area, survival property and soft agar growth ability after deletion of TRPV4 gene in the cells with its CRISPR/Cas9 system. with these experiments, we confirmed that TRPV4 is required not only to function as Ca2+ channel but also to maintain its proper cell morphology as a corner stone protein on the cell adhesion junction.
