Chimeric plants composed of green and albino tissues have great ornamental *** unveil the functional genes responsible for albino phenotypes in chimeric plants,we inspected the complete plastid genomes(plastomes)in green and albino leaf tissues from 23 ornamental chimeric plants belonging to 20 species,including monocots,dicots,and *** nine chimeric plants,plastomes were identical between green and albino ***,another 14 chimeric plants were heteroplasmic,showing a mutation between green and albino *** identified 14 different point mutations in eight functional plastid genes related to plastid-encoded RNA polymerase(rpo)or photosystems which caused albinism in the chimeric *** them,12 were deleterious mutations in the target genes,in which early termination appeared due to small deletion-mediated frameshift or single nucleotide *** was single nucleotide substitution in an intron of the ycf3 and the other was a missense mutation in coding region of the rpoC2 *** inspected chlorophyll structure,protein functional model of the rpoC2,and expression levels of the related genes in green and albino tissues of Reynoutria japonica.A single amino acid change,histidine-to-proline substitution,in the rpoC2 protein may destabilize the peripheral helix of plastid-encoded RNA polymerase,impairing the biosynthesis of the photosynthesis system in the albino tissue of *** chimera plant.

Hepatic stellate cells and innate immunity in alcoholic liver disease

Constant alcohol consumption is a major cause of chronic liver disease, and there has been a growing concern regarding the increased mortality rates worldwide. Alcoholic liver diseases (ALDs) range from mild to more severe conditions, such as steatosis, steatohepatitis, fibrosis, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma. The liver is enriched with innate immune cells (e.g. natural killer cells and Kupffer cells) and hepatic stellate cells (HSCs), and interestingly, emerging evidence suggests that innate immunity contributes to the development of ALDs (e.g. steatohepatitis and liver fibrosis). Indeed, HSCs play a crucial role in alcoholic steatosis via production of endocannabinoid and retinol metabolites. This review describes the roles of the innate immunity and HSCs in the pathogenesis of ALDs, and suggests therapeutic targets and strategies to assist in the reduction of ALD.

Extreme venous letting and cupping resulting in life-threatening anemia and acute myocardial infarction:A case report

BACKGROUND Wet cupping (WC) is a traditional therapy of skin suction-assisted bloodlettingthat is widely used in modern alternative medicine in Asia and the Middle ***, we report the case of a male who presented with ST-elevation myocardialinfarction (STEMI) and life-threatening anemia and underwent excessive *** SUMMARY A 55-year-old male presented with chest pain (30 min) and dyspnea (3 wk). Hisinitial electrocardiogram suggested STEMI in the anterior wall. Furthermore, hislaboratory results showed severe anemia with a hemoglobin level of 4.1 g/dL. Ofnote, the patient underwent regular WC therapy for chronic back pain, which hehad recently intensified. His WC practice resulted in life-threatening anemia andeventually STEMI. Percutaneous coronary intervention in the left anteriordescending artery was performed to treat the STEMI. His dyspnea dramaticallyimproved after the transfusion, and his hemoglobin level returned to 14.8 g/dLwithin 2 mo after discharge. He has been uneventful for the last seven years *** The current case demonstrates that excessive WC without adequate medicalmonitoring can result in severe anemia, which can further develop into STEMI.

Gastric heterotopia of colon found cancer workup in liver abscess:A case report

BACKGROUND Recently reported cases of pyogenic liver abscess associated with colonic cancer in the absence of underlying disease,have included a small number of cases of gastric heterotopia(GHT).GHT is a congenital anomaly composed of ectopic gastric mucosa and can occur anywhere in the gastrointestinal tract but is more frequently encountered in the cervical ***,it is rarely observed in ***,most reported cases of GHT of the colon involved the rectum,and GHT involving the colon proximal to the rectum is *** SUMMARY An 83-year-old male patient presented with fever and a diagnosis of pyogenic liver *** was performed for colon cancer workup and revealed a 1.0 cm sized polyp at the transverse *** polyp was removed by endoscopic mucosal resection by monopolar electrocauterization using a *** examination revealed *** administering intravenous antibiotics,the patient recovered *** GHT in the colon could affect the development of pyogenic liver abscess by enabling hematogenous propagation of Klebsiella pneumoniae through mucosal ***,more study is needed due to the lack of cases.

Anti-anger Effects of Herbal Medicine:A Mini-Review of Rat Studies

ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction in Kawasaki disease:A case report and review of literature

BACKGROUND Kawasaki disease(KD)is an acute self-limiting febrile vasculitis that occurs during childhood and can cause coronary artery aneurysm(CAA).CAAs are associated with a high rate of adverse cardiovascular *** SUMMARY A Korean 35-year-old man with a 30-year history of KD presented to the emergency room with chest *** coronary angiography was performed as ST-segment elevation in the inferior leads was observed on the *** aneurysm of the left circumflex(LCX)coronary artery was found with massive thrombi within.A drug-eluting 4.5 mm 23 mm-sized stent was inserted into the occluded area without *** maximal diameter of the LCX was 6.0 mm with a Z score of 4.7,suggestive of a small aneurysm considering his age,sex,and body surface *** further present a case series of 19 patients with KD,including the current patient,presenting with acute coronary syndrome(ACS).Notably,none of the cases showed Z scores;only five patients(26%)had been regularly followed up by a physician,and only one patient(5.3%)was being treated with antithrombotic therapy before ACS *** For KD presenting with ACS,regular follow up and medical therapy may be crucial for improved outcomes.

Operational Implementation of the ATOVS Processing Procedure in KMA and Its Validation

The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) has processed the data from the advanced TOVS (ATOVS) onboard NOAA-16 satellite since May 2001. The operational production utilizes the AAPP (ATOVS and AVHRR Processing Package) of EUMETSAT and IAPP (International ATOVS Processing Package) of the University of Wisconsin. For the initial guess profiles, the predicted fields (usually 6 to 12 hour forecasted fields) from the global aviation model of NOAA/NCEP are used. The average number of profiles retrieved from the ATOVS data is about 1,300 for each morning and afternoon orbit at about 18 and 06 UTC, respectively. The retrieved temperature and dew point temperatures are provided to forecasters in real time and used for initialization of prediction models. With the advanced microwave sensor (AMSU; Advanced Microwave Sounding Unit), accuracy of the ATOVS products is expected to be better than that of the TOVS products, especially in cloudy conditions. Indeed, the preliminary results from a validation study with the collocated radiosonde data during a 8-month period, from May to December 2001, for the East Asia region show an improved accuracy of the ATOVS products for cloudy skies versus the TOVS, especially for higher altitudes. The RMS (Root Mean Square) difference between the ATOVS products and radiosonde data is about 1.3°C for both clear and cloudy conditions, except for near the ground and at higher altitudes, at around 200 hPa. There is no significant temporal variation of the error statistics at all pressure levels. In case of the water vapor mixing ratio, the largest difference is shown at lower altitudes, while the accuracy is much better for the clear sky cases than the cloudy sky cases. The bias and RMSE at lower altitudes is about 0.557 g kg−1 and 2.5 g kg−1 and decrease significantly with increasing altitude.

Dissemination of gastric cancer may usually occur by direct spread through the perigastric tissues to adjacent organ, lymphatic spread, and hematogenous spread. We report a rare case of gastric cancer with mucosal metastastic lesion on the upper esophagus that was diagnosed by endoscopy and endosonography. A biopsy of the esophageal mass was performed and the pathologic findings with immunohistochemical stain for Mucin-5AC are proved to be identical to that of gastric adenocarcinoma, suggesting metastasis from main lesion of the gastric cancer. The lesion could not be explained by lymphatic or hematogenous spread,and its metastasis mechanism is considered to be different from previous studies. We suggest that the gastroesophageal reflux of cancer cells could be one of the possible metastatic pathways for metastasis of esophagus from an adenocarcinoma of the stomach.

Advanced heterolytic H_(2) adsorption of K-added Ru/MgO catalysts for accelerating hydrogen storage into aromatic benzyltoluenes

Herein,we report a highly active K-added Ru/MgO catalyst for hydrogen storage into aromatic benzyltoluenes at low temperatures to advance liquid organic hydrogen carrier *** hydrogenation activity of Ru/K/MgO catalysts exhibits a volcano-shaped dependence on the K content at the maximum with 0.02 wt%.This is in good agreement with the strength and capacity of H_(2) adsorption derived from basicity,despite a gradual decrease in the textural property and the corresponding increase in the Ru particle size with increasing the K *** functional theory calculations show that heterolytic hydrogen adsorption properties(strength and polarization)are facilitated up to a specific density of K on the Ru–MgO interface and excessive K suppresses heterolytic H_(2) adsorption by direct interaction between K and hydrogen,assuring the hydrogenation activity and H_(2) adsorption capability of Ru/K/MgO ***,the Ru/K/MgO catalyst,when K is added in an optimal amount,is highly effective to accelerate hydrogen storage kinetics at low temperatures owing to the enhanced heterolytic H_(2) adsorption.
