Effects of local neighbourhood diversity on crown structure and productivity of individual trees in mature mixed-species forests

Background:Species-specific genotypic features,local neighbourhood interactions and resource supply strongly influence the tree stature and growth *** mixed-species forests,diversity-mediated biomass allocation has been suggested to be a fundamental mechanism underlying the positive biodiversity-productivity *** evidence,however,is rare about the impact of local neighbourhood diversity on tree characteristics analysed at a very high level of *** address this issue we analysed these effects on the individual-tree crown architecture and tree productivity in a mature mixed forest in northern ***:Our analysis considers multiple target tree species across a local neighbourhood species richness gradient ranging from 1 to *** applied terrestrial laser scanning to quantify a large number of individual mature trees(N=920)at very high *** evaluated two different neighbour inclusion approaches by analysing both a fixed radius selection procedure and a selection based on overlapping *** and conclusions:We show that local neighbourhood species diversity significantly increases crown dimension and wood volume of target ***,we found a size-dependency of diversity effects on tree productivity(basal area and wood volume increment)with positive effects for large-sized trees(diameter at breast height(DBH)>40 cm)and negative effects for small-sized(DBH<40 cm)*** our analysis,the neighbour inclusion approach has a significant impact on the *** scientific studies and the validation of growth models we recommend a neighbour selection by overlapping crowns,because this seems to be the relevant scale at which local neighbourhood interactions *** local neighbourhood diversity promotes individual-tree productivity in mature European mixed-species forests,we conclude that a small-scale species mixture should be considered in management plans.

Bicharacteristic Curves in Modeling of the Earth Crust and Upper Mantle

The aim of this paper is the introduction of a new approach to 3D modelling of elastic piecewise homogeneous media, in particular Earth crust and upper Mantle. The method is based on the principle of tomography with Earthquake as a source of the signal and receiver stations on the surface. The wave propagation in solid media is described by a system of three strongly coupled hyperbolic equations with piece - wise constant coefitients. The characteristic set and hi-characteristic curves of this system are computed in a homogeneous half-space with free boundary and the formulae of reflection and diffraction of the hi-characteristics on the internal boundaries of the media. Applications of the characteristic set and bi-eharacteristic curves for the inverse problem in geophysics and Earth modelling are given.

An adaptive fault-tolerant control strategy is proposed for a class of switched nonlinear systems with unknown functions and unavailable states by using the improved average dwell time technique and backstepping method. We use radial basis function neural networks（RBFNNs） to approximate the unknown functions and a switched nonlinear state observer is designed to estimate the unavailable states. In order to solve the explosion of the complexity problem, dynamic surface control technique is used. The presented fault-tolerant controllers and update laws guarantee the boundedness of all signals in the closed-loop system under a class of switching signals with average dwell time. Furthermore, the system output can track a given reference signal and the estimation errors converge to some small compact sets. Finally, an example is employed to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Performance and robustness analysis of a fuzzy-immune flow controller in ATM networks with time-varying multiple time-delays

For the Asynchronous Transfer Mode （ATM） networks with time-varying multiple time-delays, a more realistic model for the available bit rate （ABR） traffic class with explicit rate feedback is introduced. A fuzzy-immune controller is designed, which can adjust the rates of ABR on-line, overcome the bad effect caused by the saturation nonlinearity and satisfy the weighted fairness. Also, the sufficient condition that guarantees the stability of the closed-loop system with a fuzzy-immune controller is presented in theory for the first time. The algorithm exhibits good performance, and most importantly, has a solid theoretical foundation and can be implemented in practice easily. Simulation results show that the control system is rapid, adaptive, robust, and meanwhile, the quality of service （QoS） is guaranteed.

Objective To explore the effect of electroacupuncture(EA)intervention on the vasoconstriction of cerebral artery smooth muscle cells after cerebral *** Male Wistar rats were randomly divided into 3 groups by a random number table:the model group(n=24),the EA group(n=24),and the normal group(n=6).The model and the EA groups were divided into different time subgroups at 0.5,1,3,and 6 h after middle cerebral artery occlusion(MCAO),with 6 rats in each *** model was established using intraluminal suture occlusion *** EA group was given EA treatment at acupoint Shuigou(GV 26)instantly after MCAO for 20 *** contents of cerebrovascular smooth muscle MLCK,the 3 subunits of myosin light chain phosphatase(MLCP)MYPT1,PP1c-δand M20,as well as myosin-ATPase activity were detected using immunohistochemistry and Western *** The overall expression level of the MYPT1 and PP1c-δin the model group was significantly higher(P0.05),and the other subgroups were still significantly higher than the normal group(P<0.01).After EA intervention,the expression level of each subgroup was significantly lower than the corresponding model *** was a significant difference between the 0.5 and 1 h subgroups(P<0.01),while a difference was also observed between the 3 and 6 h subgroups(P<0.05).The dynamic change rule gradually increased with the prolongation of infarction time within 6 h after *** EA intervention can inhibit contraction of cerebral vascular smooth muscle cells and regulate smooth muscle relaxation by regulating MLCK pathway.

Transcriptional regulators(TRs)participate in essential processes in cancer pathogenesis and are critical therapeutic *** of drug response-related TRs from cell line-based compound screening data is often challenging due to low m RNA abundance of TRs,protein modifications,and other confounders(CFs).In this study,we developed a regression-based pharmacogenomic and Ch IP-seq data integration method(Re Phine)to infer the impact of TRs on drug response through integrative analyses of pharmacogenomic and Ch IP-seq *** Phine was evaluated in simulation and pharmacogenomic data and was applied to pan-cancer datasets with the goal of biological *** simulation data with added noises or CFs and in pharmacogenomic data,Re Phine demonstrated an improved performance in comparison with three commonly used methods(including Pearson correlation analysis,logistic regression model,and gene set enrichment analysis).Utilizing Re Phine and Cancer Cell Line Encyclopedia data,we observed that Re Phinederived TR signatures could effectively cluster drugs with different mechanisms of *** Phine predicted that loss-offunction of EZH2/PRC2 reduces cancer cell sensitivity toward the BRAF inhibitor *** validation confirmed that pharmacological EZH2 inhibition increases the resistance of cancer cells to PLX4720 *** results support that Re Phine is a useful tool for inferring drug response-related TRs and for potential therapeutic *** source code for Re Phine is freely available at https://***/coexps/Re Phine.

Introduction Methylmalonic acidemia(MMA)is a disorder of autosomal recessive inheritance,with an estimated prevalence of 1:50,***-tier clinical diagnostic tests often return many false positives[fve false positive(FP):one true positive(TP)].In this work,our goal was to refne a classifcation model that can minimize the number of false positives,currently an unmet need in the upstream diagnostics of *** We developed machine learning multivariable screening models for MMA with utility as a secondary-tier tool for false positives *** utilized mass spectrometry-based features consisting of 11 amino acids and 31 carnitines derived from dried blood samples of neonatal patients,followed by additional ratio feature *** selection strategies(selection by flter,recursive feature elimination,and learned vector quantization)were used to determine the input set for evaluating the performance of 14 classifcation models to identify a candidate model set for an ensemble model *** Our work identifed computational models that explore metabolic analytes to reduce the number of false positives without compromising *** best results[area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUROC)of 97%,sensitivity of 92%,and specifcity of 95%]were obtained utilizing an ensemble of the algorithms random forest,C5.0,sparse linear discriminant analysis,and autoencoder deep neural network stacked with the algorithm stochastic gradient boosting as the *** model achieved a good performance trade-of for a screening application with 6%false-positive rate(FPR)at 95%sensitivity,35%FPR at 99%sensitivity,and 39%FPR at 100%*** The classifcation results and approach of this research can be utilized by clinicians globally,to improve the overall discovery of MMA in pediatric *** improved method,when adjusted to 100%precision,can be used to further inform the diagnostic process journey of MMA and help r

Comparing Coordination Abilities of 10-11 Years Old Girls Practicing Basketball and Rhythmic Gymnastic

The words---coordination, coordination abilities and coordination training are getting more and more popular among the coaches in different sports. The rhythm makes the movement logical, easy and correct done. The purpose of this study is to determine any difference between the coordination abilities of 10-11 years old gifts practicing basketball and rhythmic gymnastics. In that study, we have tested 40 girls at the age of 10-11 years practicing basketball and rhythmic gymnastic. We have tested them by 7 coordination tests. The results from the tests have been calculated in math-statistic methods and we have used descriptive statistic and t-test by Student with guaranteed probability Pt 〉 95 %. Ten-eleven old girls practicing rhythmic gymnastic have advantage against the girls practicing basketball in all 7 tests examining coordination abilities. The girls practicing rhythmic gymnastic, guaranteed by statistic, have better results in the balance and rhythmic abilities than the girls practicing basketball game. That statement is showing us that at this age the rhythmic gymnastic or elements from rhythmic gymnastic should be used for developing balance and rhythmic ability, which are very important for the basketball game.

Aiming at singular property for a class of link constrained manipulator,the design of soft sliding mode controller is considered by disturbance compensation in this ***,a singular system model of a three-link manipulator is established by the constraint equations and the force ***,a dynamic switching function is given and a novel discrete singular exponential reaching law with dynamic disturbance compensation is ***,soft sliding mode controller for three-link constrained manipulator with uncertainties is discussed by the proposed discrete reaching ***,it can drive the manipulator system to reach the switching band in finite time and remain on the switching *** reason of system chattering will be analyzed and the width of the switching band will be decreased by the proposed controller.
