There is now abundant evidence that contemporary climatic change has indirectly affected a wide-range of species by changing trophic interactions,competition,epidemiology and ***,direct physiological impacts of changing climates are rarely reported for endothermic species,despite being commonly reported for ec*** review the evidence for changing physiological constraints on endothermic vertebrates at high temperatures,integrating theoretical and empirical perspectives on the morphology,physiology and behavior of marine *** for increasing heat stress exposure depends on changes in multiple environmental variables,not just air temperature,as well as organism-specific morphology,physiology and *** breeding at high latitudes are vulnerable to the forecast,extensive temperature changes because of the adaptations they possess to minimize heat ***-latitude species will also be challenged as they currently live close to their thermal limits and will likely suffer future water ***,highly-active species,particularly aerial foragers,are acutely vulnerable as they are least able to dissipate heat at high ***,direct physiological impacts of climatic change appear underrepresented in the published literature,but available data suggest they have much potential to shape behavior,morphology and distribution of endothermic spe*** between future heat stress events and other energetic constraints on endotherms remains largely unexplored but will be key in determining the physiological impacts of climatic ***-scale,biophysical modeling,informed by experiments that quantify thermoregulatory responses of endotherms to heat stress,is an essential precursor to urgently-needed analyses at the population or species level.

A landslide susceptibility mapping study was performed using dynamic hillslope hydrology. The modified infinite slope stability model that directly includes vadose zone soil moisture(Sm) was applied at Cleveland Corral, California, US and Krishnabhir, Dhading, nepal. The variable infiltration capacity(VIC-3L) model simulated vadose zone soil moisture and the wetness index hydrologic model simulated groundwater(GW). The GW model predictions had a 75% nASH-Sutcliffe efficiency when compared to California's in-situ GW measurements. The model performed best during the wet season. Using predicted GW and VIC-3L vadose zone Sm, the developed landslide susceptibility maps showed very good agreement with mapped landslides at each study region. Previous quasi-dynamic model predictions of nepal's hazardous areas during extreme rainfall events were enhanced to improve the spatial characterization and provide the timing of hazardous conditions.

The song systems of oscine passerines(songbirds)are complex and *** songs are used for both mate attraction and territory defense and are therefore important signals for survival and reproduction,comprehensive knowledge of within and among species song structure and distribution is informative for understanding the evolution of song repertoires and vocal *** this study,we explored variation in the song structure of the Ovenbird(Seiurus aurocapilla),a widespread warbler(Family Parulidae)found in north American *** analyzed recordings from the 2021 breeding season to assess song type variation at a local(n=158 birds;Sault ***,On)and breeding range scale(n=512 birds;eBird).We characterized the local song types and tested whether Ovenbirds share song types with their neighbors more often than expected by *** then characterized song types of Ovenbirds across the breeding range to determine whether any geographic pattern of song clustering exists(i.e.,macro-dialects).We found 10 distinct song types and some evidence for song type clustering at the local study site(i.e.,song neighborhoods).We found 7 of those 10 song types throughout the breeding range and identified an additional 24 types that were not recorded in our local *** found no evidence for song dialects across the Ovenbird breeding *** study contributes to our understanding of Ovenbird song while simultaneously adding to our understanding of geographic structuring of warbler *** work contributes to delineating a more comprehensive understanding of factors affecting dialect development for this diverse group of songbirds.

The non-thermal plasma technology is a promising technique to treat SO2 and nOx. Chemical radicals produced with this technology can remove several pollutants at atmospheric pressure in a very short period of time simultaneously. Both theoretical and experimental study on SO2 and nOx removal, by a dielectric barrier discharge （DBD） with corona effect, is presented.

Conflict is an in here nt part of social life in group-living species. Group members may mediate conflict through submissive and affiliative behaviors, which can reduce aggression, stabilize dominance hierarchies, and foster group cohesion. The frequency and resolution of within-group conflict may vary with the presenee of neighboring groups. neighbors can threaten the territory or resources of the whole group, promoting behaviors that foster within-group cohesion. However, neighbors may also foster conflict of interests among group members: opportunities for subordinate dispersal may alter conflict among dominants and subordinates while opportunities for extrapair reproduction may increase conflict between mates. To understand how neighbors mediate within-group conflict in the cooperatively breeding fish neolamprologus pulcher, we measured behavioral dynamics and social network structure in isolated groups, groups recently exposed to neighbors, and groups with established neighbors. Aggression and submission between the dominant male and female pair were high in isolated groups, but dominant aggression was directly primarily at subordinates when groups had neighbors. This suggests that neighbors attenuate conflict between mates and foster conflict between dominants and subordinates. Further, aggression and submission between similarly sized group members were most frequent when groups had neighbors, suggesting that neighbors induce rank-related conflict. We found relatively little change in within-group affiliative networks across treatments, suggesting that the presence of neighbors does not alter behaviors associated with promoting group cohesion. collectively, these results provide some of the first empirical insights into the extent to which intragroup behavioral networks are mediated by intergroup interactions and the broader social context.

In the United States, children are not meeting daily recommendationsfor 60 min of moderate・to・vigorous activity.1Because children spend a large portion of their days in school, ithas been further recommended that children accumulate 30 minof their physical activity (PA) during school hours.2 Our previousresearch has demonstrated with objective measures that only8%—9% of elementary school children meet this goal, with anaverage accumulation of 18 min/day.3,4 This finding is of concerngiven the numerous benefits that PA has not only on healthoutcomes,5-8 but also on academic achievement.9 For example,there is heightened awareness that children benefit from PAthroughout the school day in terms of attention to task, memory,behavior, and, ultimately, academic performance.10 Schooladministrators acknowledge this link, but still face barriers toincorporating PA for schoolchildren, including limited time andresources for physical education (PE) and recess.

The introduction of species is a leading cause of biodiversity loss and habitat *** species have invaded mexican freshwater ecosystems,adversely affecting native ***,in the Amacuzac River of the Balsas Basin(Central mexico),at least four non-native cichlids have been recorded:tilapia Oreochromis sp.,convict cichlid Amatitlania nigrofasciata,spotcheek cichlid Thorichthys maculipinnis,and green terror Andinoacara *** species co-occur with the mexican mojarra Amphilophus istlanus,the only native cichlid in the *** cichlids compete for resources such as shelter and food,and prey on offspring of the mexican *** the presence of invasive cichlids,the costs and risks of foraging and finding available shelter increase for the native *** pressure from invasive cichlid fishes on the mexican mojarra increases the time invested by parents in caring for offspring and their stress levels,potentially contributing to mexican mojarra population ***,we gathered the best evidence available to discuss some mechanisms and consequences of such co-occurrences in relation to reproductive behaviors,parental care,competition for resources,and dominance hierarchy,and how the four invasive cichlids have negatively affected the mexican mojarra.

The coordination polymer, （nd（H2O）5）2（2,6-AQDS）3.2H2O where 2,6-AQDS = 2,6- anthraquinonedisulfonate, has been synthesised via a hydrothermal route. Structurally, it consists of layers of monomeric nd polyhedra which are linked by 2,6-AQDS anions forming a polymeric, three-dimensional network. Each nd atom is nine coordinate, bonding to five water molecules and to four oxygen atoms from four 2,6-AODS anions which in turn pillar the layers by bridging two nd atoms in one layer, and coordinating to a single nd in the other.

The precision of strip flatness depends on several factors; wear of rolls is one of the main variables that have influence on the surface quality of the strip. The wear of the roils represents a complex friction condition, sometimes the wear in the backup roll is not analyzed because the strip is not in contact with the backup roll; however, after several campaigns of rolling, the wear in the backup roll becomes dangerous because the pressure distribution is not uniform. Investigation of mechanism of the surface deterioration of the backup roll for the hot strip rolling is very important for the development of the automatic strip shape control system used in hot strip mills. A mathematical model is developed considering the Hertzian pressure distribution between two cylinders with parallel axes. It is used in real time for calculating the wear in the backup roll and in this manner take deci- sions for preventing finished product reworking or damage of equipments, which result in accidents caused by excessive wear in the backup rolls.
