This study exa.ines the depth of informa.ion rega.ding Fema.e Genita. Mutila.ion (FGM)/Fema.e Cutting (FC) present in US medica. textbooks. a.cording to Klein et a.. (2018) [1], despite substa.tia. a.tention rega.ding the effects of FGM, this pra.tice is still ongoing a.l over the world. Hea.thca.e providers a.e very importa.t a.tors who need to understa.d FGM in order to provide ca.e to girls a.d women subjected to it, but the sma.l a.ount of existing work in this a.ea.shows a.low level of knowledge a.d tra.ning a.out FGM/FC a.ong U.S. physicia.s. The Center for Disea.e Control a.d Prevention (CDC) first published the estima.ed number of girls a. risk of FGM/FC in the U.S. to be a.out 168,000 in 1997;tha. number ha. increa.ed to 513,000 girls in the US by 2012 (a.cording to Goldberg et a..) In this study, a.sma.l sa.ple of medica. textbooks were a.a.yzed for the degree to which the textbooks include informa.ion rega.ding FGM/FC. The results of this study show tha. US medica. textbooks do not include informa.ion rega.ding FGM/FC, suggesting tha. most medica. providers don’t ha.e knowledge a.d tra.ning a.out FGM/FC. The ina.equa.e informa.ion on FGM/FC in medica. textbooks reflects a.cultura.ly bia.ed la.k of recognition of the number of girls a.d women a.fected in the US. This ma.nta.ns a. ongoing pa.tern of silence tha. reinforces gender inequa.ity. Considering the ina.equa.e informa.ion covered in US medica. textbooks on FGM/FC, a.d the concorda.t la.k of provider tra.ning to provide a.vice a.d ca.e to a.fected girls a.d women, incorrect a.d missed dia.noses ma. lea. to ha.m to victims of FGM/FC. Providers would be better equipped to ca.e for women a.d girls if their medica. tra.ning included informa.ion rega.ding FGM/FC.

a.cessing drinking wa.er is a.globa. issue. This study a.ms to contribute to the a.sessment of groundwa.er qua.ity in the municipa.ity of Za.Kpota.(southern Benin) using remote sensing a.d Ma.hine Lea.ning. The methodologica. a.proa.h used consisted in linking groundwa.er physico-chemica. pa.a.eter da.a.collected in the field a.d in the la.ora.ory using a.NOR 1994 sta.da.dized methods to sa.ellite da.a.(La.dsa.) in order to sketch out a.groundwa.er qua.ity prediction model. The da.a.wa. processed using QGis (Semi-a.toma.ic Plugin: SCP) a.d Python (Jupyter Netebook: Prediction) softwa.es. The results of wa.er a.a.ysis from the sa.pled wells a.d boreholes indica.ed tha. most of the wa.er is a.idic (pH va.ying between 5.59 a.d 7.83). The wa.er wa. modera.ely minera.ized, with conductivity va.ues of less tha. 1500 μs/cm overa.l (59 µS/cm to 1344 µS/cm), with high concentra.ions of nitra.es a.d phospha.es in pla.es. The dyna.ics of groundwa.er qua.ity in the municipa.ity of Za.Kpota.between 2008 a.d 2022 a.e a.so ma.ked by a.regression in la.d use units (a.regression in vegeta.ion a.d ma.shla.d forma.ion in fa.or of built-up a.ea., ba.e soil, crops a.d fa.low la.d) revea.ed by the dia.hronic a.a.ysis of sa.ellite ima.es from 2008, 2013, 2018 a.d 2022. Surveys of loca. residents revea.ed the use of herbicides a.d pesticides in a.ricultura. fields, which a.e the ma.n drivers contributing to the groundwa.er qua.ity deteriora.ion observed in the study a.ea. Field surveys revea.ed the use of herbicides a.d pesticides in a.ricultura. fields, which a.e fa.tors contributing to the deteriora.ion in groundwa.er qua.ity observed in the study a.ea. The results of the groundwa.er qua.ity prediction models (a.N, RF a.d LR) developed led to the conclusion tha. the model ba.ed on a.tificia. Neura. Networks (a.N: R2 = 0.97 a.d RMSE = 0) is the best for groundwa.er qua.ity cha.ges modelling in the Za.Kpota.municipa.ity.

Identifying how lea. ha.it subdivisions link to the fa.t–slow a.d a.oida.ce–tolera.ce tra.t tra.eoffs ca. provide new insight into divergence in ecophysiologica. stra.egies a.ong pla.t functiona. groups. Here, we tested a.hypothesis tha. the differentia.ion a.ross deciduous, semi-deciduous a.d evergreen woody species contributes to physiologica. tra.t tra.eoffs in a.dry-hot va.ley sa.a.na. We investiga.ed 11 photosynthetic, morphologica. a.d hydra.lic tra.ts of 24 species including 8 deciduous, 10 semi-deciduous a.d 6 evergreen species. Deciduous species were grouped in the fa.t a.d a.oida.ce side a.socia.ed with high va.ues of ma.imum photosynthetic ra.es,stoma.a. conducta.ce a.d lea. size, while evergreen species were grouped in the slow a.d tolera.ce side a.socia.ed with high photosynthetic wa.er use efficiency, lea. ma.s per a.ea. sa.wood density, Huber va.ue, lea. wa.er potentia. a. turgor loss point a.d wa.er potentia. ca.sing 50% loss of stem hydra.lic conducta.ce. Semideciduous species genera.ly ha. intermedia.e tra.t va.ues a.d represented different physiologica. cha.a.teristics when compa.ed to deciduous a.d evergreen species. The physiologica. tra.t tra.eoffs showed a.close linka.e to the differentia.ion of these three lea. ha.its.
