We.studie. the.be.avioral inte.actionsof two coe.isting small mammals, the.Namaqua rock mouse.Micae.amys namaque.sis (Rode.tia) and the.Rock se.gi e.e.hantulusmyurus (Macrosce.idae., which have.high die.ary and microhabitat ove.lap. Using wild-caught individuals, intra- andinte.spe.ific dyadic e.counte.s we.e.stage. in tanks on a ne.tral rocky outcrop. Inte.spe.ific dyads displaye. significantly more.ctive.avoidance.be.avior. The.e.was no support for the.pre.iction that the.large., more.spe.ialist spe.ie., e. myurus, is be.aviorallydominant ove. M. namaque.sis.
