The nucleolus is the most prominent compartment in the nucleus and known as the site for ribosome biogenesis *** contrast,there is no such equivalent structure for ribosome synthesis in *** raises twoconcerns that how does the nucleolus evolve and that whether the nucleolus remains playing a single role in ribosomebiogenesis along the *** data support new nucleolus functions,including signal recognition particleassembly,small RNA modification,telomerase maturation,cell-cycle and aging control,and cell stress *** of the nucleolus possibly result from the plurifunctionality of nucleolar proteins,such as nucleolin and Nopp *** analyses of human and Arabidopsis nucleolus lead a remarkable progress in understanding the evolution andnew functions of *** this review,we present a brief history of nucleolus research and new concepts and unre-solved ***,we introduce hepatitis D virus for studying the communication between the nucleolus and othersubnuclear compartments,and Caenorhabditis elegans for the role of nucleolus in the development and the epistaticcontrol of nucleologenesis.

Improving catalyst performance by studying the preparation parameters, material structures and analysis methods is important work for catalyst researchers. In this study, Cu-Pt nanocomposites with different metal ratios were synthesized on MWCNTs using a polyol method. The structures and morphologies of the nano hybrid catalysts were analyzed by XRD and TEM. The XRD results indicate that Pt and Cu formed a bimetallic solid solution. The average diameters of the Pt and Cu-Pt nanoparticles on MWCNTs were between 3-10 nm and 5-15 nm, respectively. The electrocatalytic behavior of methanol oxidation reactions was investigated by cyclic voltammery （CV）. Cu（20%）/[Pt/MWCNTs（1：4）], which contained an optimal degree of solid solution, enhanced the methanol oxidation to the greatest degree.

AIM: To demonstrate the prevalence of sonographic fatty liver, overweight and ischemic heart disease (IHD) among the male workers in Taiwan, and to investigate the possible association of these three ***: From July to September 2003, a total of 2 088 male aircraft-maintenance workers aged from 22to 65 years (mean 40.5) underwent an annual health examination, including anthropometrical evaluation, blood pressure measurement, personal medical history assessment,biochemical blood analysis, abdominal ultrasonographic examination and digital electrocardiography (ECG). The Student's t-test, x2 test and multivariate logistic regression analysis were utilized to evaluate the relationship between IHD and salient risk ***: The all-over prevalence of overweight was 41.4%, and that of fatty liver was 29.5% (mild, moderate and severe fatty liver being 14.5%, 11.3%, and 3.7%,respectively); while the prevalence of ischemic changes on ECG was 17.1% in this study. The abnormal rates for conventional IHD risk factors including hypertension,dyslipidemia, hyperglycemia and overweight increased in accordance with the severity of fatty liver. Overweight and severity of fatty liver were independently associated with increased risks for developing IHD. Overweight subjects had a 1.32-fold (95%CI: 1.01-1.73) increased IHD risk. Participants with mild, moderate, and severe fatty liver had a 1.88-fold (95%CI: 1.37-2.6), 2.37-fold (95%CI: 1.66-3.37) and 2.76-fold (95%CI: 1.62-4.72)increased risk for developing IHD. The prevalence of ischemic ECG for the fatty liver-affected subjects with or without overweight was 30.1% and 19.1%, while that of overweight subjects free from fatty liver was 14.4%.Compared to the subjects without fatty liver nor overweight,IHD risk for the three subgroups above was as follows:OR: 2.95 (95%CI:2.31-4.09), OR: 1.60 (95%CI: 1.07-2.39)and OR: 1.11 (95%CI: 0.78-1.56), ***: The presence of fatty liver and its severity should be

Purpose: To investigate biomechanical properties of the cornea as measured using a Reichert ocular response analyzer (ORA) in a Taiwan Residents population. Methods: Basic demographic data were recorded for 1875 Taiwan Residents subjects. Corneal hysteresis (CH), corneal resistance factor (CRF), central corneal thickness (CCT), Goldmann-equivalent intraocular pressure (IOPg), and corneal-compensated intraocular pressure (IOPcc) were measured with an ORA. Descriptive statistics and multiple regression analyses were used to assess and compare relevant factors of the CRF and CH. Results: In total, 1817 eyes were included in this study. The mean patient age was 21.4 ± 17.01 years. The mean (±SD) CH and CRF values were 10.6 ± 1.81 and 10.6 ± 1.99 mmHg, respectively. The mean CCT was 560.4 ± 38.53 μm. CH was correlated with IOPcc, CRF, and CCT. In the multiple linear-regression model, CH was associated with and affected by IOPcc, CRF, and CCT. In another multiple linear-regression model, CRF was associated with and affected by IOPcc, CH, and CCT. Conclusions: Measuring biomechanical properties by Reichert ORA, we found that CH and CRF values of a Taiwan Residents population were similar to those other Asian populations and other races. Our findings provided fundamental data of CH and CRF in a Taiwan Residents (ethic Chinese) and also Asian population.

Externally applied magnetic fields have been used in this study to fabricate bamboo-like iron nanowires with or without a layer of Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA). The hybrid PMMA/Fe nanowires were synthesized via hard X-ray synchrotron radiation polymerization with various treatment parameters. The results of XRD show that an oxide layer formed on the surface of the iron nanowires. The Fe2O3 and Fe3O4 phases coexist in the iron nanowires without X-ray irradiation. After X-ray irradiation, the Fe2O3 phase transformed into Fe3O4, which stabilized the iron nanowires. The results of XAS proved this phase transformation. TGA analysis confirmed the thermal properties and solid contents in these specimens. Their ferromagnetic behaviors were examined by magnetic hysteresis measurement, which indicated that the magnetic and structural properties of the nanowires can be manipulated by irradiation treatment. This may lead to a novel synthesis for iron nanowires that can be used in high thermal efficiency hyperthermia therapy.

BACKGROUND In the development of coronary stent technology,bioresorbable scaffolds are promising milestones in improving the clinical treatment of coronary artery ***“leave nothing behind”motto is the premise of the fourth revolution in percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI).Studies proving the safety and efficacy of the magnesium-based resorbable scaffolds(MgBRSs)include the BIOSOLVE-I and BIOSOLVE-II trials and the latest BIOSOLVE-IV ***,spontaneous retrograde dissection of a partially absorbed MgBRS may still occur,albeit *** SUMMARY We describe an unusual case of coronary artery disease in a patient who had undergone a successful PCI 8 mo earlier,where an MgBRS was implanted into the left anterior descending artery(LAD)and left circumflex artery with drug-coated balloons for a ramus intermedius branch stenosis to achieve the“leave nothing behind”therapeutic intention and was currently presenting with a gradual worsening of chest *** distal edge vascular response,during subsequent attempts with balloon angioplasty was performed ***,spontaneous retrograde dissection of a partially absorbed MgBRS in the LAD *** bailout stenting was performed with revascularization of the entry and exit sites created by spontaneous dissection and complete sealing of the intramural *** patient recovered well and was discharged after 2 d of *** followed up in August 2020(7 mo later),the patient showed uneventful *** Spontaneous retrograde dissection of a partially absorbed MgBRS was successfully treated using bailout sirolimus-eluting coronary stent strategy.
