Assessment of undergraduate students’ tooth preparation for full veneer cast restorations

Purpose: To evaluate tooth preparation for full veneer cast restorations performed by final year dental students in Sudan. Materials and Methods: 117 stone dies from two different dental institutions were collected and evaluated. Polyvinylsilioxane impression material was used to produce two impressive replicas of which one was sectioned in faciolingual plane and the other in mesiodistal plane. Occlusal clearance was measured using a digital caliper. Amount of axial preparation was also measured. Impression silhouettes that were produced using an overhead projector were used to measure convergence angle. Working casts were examined for smoothness and evenness of the preparations, existence or absence of additional features of retention and the finishing line were evaluated for its position and continuity. All obtained data were statistically analyzed by using T-test, ANO-VA, and Pearson Chi square tests. P-values ≤ 0.05 were considered as statistically significant. Results: Average taper of the examined preparations was 39.98?, with 44.1? in the faciolingual, and 35.8? in the mesiodistal dimensions. Preparations for full coverage restorations were over prepared. 38.5% of the total number of preparations were found to have finishing lines in the sub and supra gingival positions. 19.66% were unable to maintain continuity of the finishing line all around the preparation. All preparations were generally smooth with no sharp angles, and 1.7% of the preparations had additional retentive features. Conclusion: Within the limitations of this study, it could be concluded that the convergence angle and finishing line preparations were less than adequate in a sizeable proportion of the preparations examined.

The fast-paced growth of artificial intelligence applications provides unparalleled opportunities to improve the efficiency of various *** as the transportation sector faces many obstacles following the implementation and integration of different vehicular and environmental aspects *** congestion is among the major issues in this regard which demands serious attention due to the rapid growth in the number of vehicles on the *** address this overwhelming problem,in this article,a cloudbased intelligent road traffic congestion prediction model is proposed that is empowered with a hybrid Neuro-Fuzzy *** aim of the study is to reduce the delay in the queues,the vehicles experience at different road junctions across the *** proposed model also intended to help the automated traffic control systems by minimizing the congestion particularly in a smart city environment where observational data is obtained from various implanted Internet of Things(IoT)sensors across the *** due preprocessing over the cloud server,the proposed approach makes use of this data by incorporating the neuro-fuzzy ***,it possesses a high level of accuracy by means of intelligent decision making with minimum error *** results reveal the accuracy of the proposed model as 98.72%during the validation phase in contrast to the highest accuracies achieved by state-of-the-art techniques in the literature such as 90.6%,95.84%,97.56%and 98.03%,*** far as the training phase analysis is concerned,the proposed scheme exhibits 99.214% accuracy. The proposed prediction modelis a potential contribution towards smart cities environment.

Background: The characteristics of Staphylococcus aureus that made it the most important cause of wound infections are environmental spread antimicrobials resistance and virulence. Absence of molecular detection of drug resistance and virulence factors in many developing countries limits the epidemiological information. This study conducted to identify PVL virulence gene, and blaOXA-23 and blaOXA-51 drug resistance genes of Staphylococcus aureus isolated from surgical-sites infections (SSIs) and traumatic wounds. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted from 2019 to 2021, in which 70 cefepime resistant Staphylococcus aureus were used, the strains were isolated from patients of SSIs and traumatic wounds admitted to the department of General Surgery in Wad Medani Teaching Hospital. Mannitol salt agar was used for primary culture followed by biochemical identification and Kirby Bauer susceptibility testing. Single and multiplex PCR protocols performed for bacterial confirmation and target genes detection. Results: Staphylococcus aureus strains from SSIs constituted 56% (39/70) from which 41% (16/39) possessed PVL gene while 42% (13/31) of wound infections strains were positive for PVL gene. Presence of PVL gene was significantly associated with resistance to meropenem (P. value 0.023) and ceftriaxone (P. value 0.037). blaOXA-23 was significantly detected with resistance to meropenem, augmentin and ceftriaxone. While blaOXA-51 was significantly identified among Staphylococcus aureus strains that showed resistance to meropenem and ciprofloxacin. Conclusion: This is the first study in Sudan that identified blaOXA-23 and blaOXA-51 in Staphylococcus aureus and correlated them to resistance to commonly used antimicrobials. Meropenem resistant Staphylococcus aureus were significantly positive for PVL, blaOXA-23 and baOXA-51 genes.

Behavior of Watermelon Cultivars after Inoculation with Watermelon mosaic virus in Saudi Arabia

All seven watermelon cultivars that were screened for their reactions to a severe Saudi Arabian isolate of Watermelon mosaic virus(WMV-SA)that was found inducing a severe disease in watermelon in Riyadh region,were found to be susceptible and showed different virus-like symptoms upon mechanical *** Baby,Crimson Sweet 1 and Crimson Sweet 2 cultivars showed milder symptoms and,therefore,got lower grand mean of weekly symptom ratings than Charleston Gray No.502,Jubilee,Black Diamond and Charleston Gray No.133 in both first and second *** inoculation with this isolate significantly reduced the plant height,fresh and dry weights of the tested *** reduction percentages in plant height of Sugar Baby and Crimson Sweet 2 were significantly lower than those of Crimson Sweet 1,Charleston Gray No.502 and Charleston Gray No.133 in both *** the reduction in percentages of fresh weights of Sugar Baby,Crimson Sweet 2 and Jubilee were significantly lower than reduction percentages of Crimson Sweet 1,Black Diamond and Charleston Gray *** dry weight reduction percentages of Jubilee,Sugar Baby and Crimson Sweet 2 were lower than those of Charleston Gray No.502,Charleston Gray No.133,Black Diamond and Crimson Sweet 1 in both *** correlation existed between the virus titer in the infected cultivars and their *** general,Sugar Baby and Crimson Sweet 2 performed better than the other cultivars as they had the lowest symptom severity ratings,the lowest percentages of plant height,fresh and dry weight reductions compared to the other tested cultivars.

Background: Urosepsis is one of the most common infections that require empirical broad spectrum antibiotics immediately after diagnosis. This has led to development of bacterial resistance by acquiring the capability to destroy the β-lactam ring. Methodology: This is a cross-sectional hospital-based study. The study was conducted from 2019 to 2020 at Gezira Hospital for Renal diseases and surgery (GHRDS). A hundred patients were diagnosed clinically with urosepsis and the isolated organisms were Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Proteus mirabilis, Klebsiella pneumonia and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The susceptibility test was conducted by Kirby Bauer disc diffusion technique according to clinical laboratory standard institute (CLSI) guidelines. Seventy eight samples of bacterial genomic DNA were confirmed by 16srRNA and multiplex PCR, were performed for genotypic blaOXA-51 and blaOXA-23 gene characterization of isolated bacteria. Then gel electrophoresis was used to identify the presence or absence of (blaOXA-51 and blaOXA-23) genes. Results: 88.5% (69/78) in 16srRNA detected. Using multiplex PCR, the frequencies of blaOXA-51 and blaOXA-23 genes were 13% and 10.1%, respectively. The percentages of isolates which yielded both blaOXA-51 and blaOXA-23 among P. aeruginosa was 25% (1/4), among K. pneumonia was 17% (1/6), and among E. coli was 8% (3/37). Only blaOXA-51 was detected in P. mirabilis 10% (1/10) and only blaOXA-23 was detected in S. aureus 5% (1/18). Conclusion: In this study, the presence of blaOXA-51 and blaOXA-23 genes was increased in the isolated bacteria.

This study investigates speculative bubbles in the cryptocurrency market and factors affecting bubbles during the COVID-19 *** results indicate that each cryptocurrency covered in the study presented ***,we found that explosive behavior in one currency leads to explosivity in other *** the pandemic,herd behavior was evident among investors;however,this diminishes during bubbles,indicating that bubbles are not explained by herd *** cryptocurrency and market-specific factors,we found that Google Trends and volume are positively associated with predicting speculative bubbles in time-series and panel probit ***,investors should exercise caution when investing in cryptocurrencies and follow both crypto currency and market-related factors to estimate *** liquidity,volatility,and Google Trends measures are used for robustness analysis and yield similar ***,our results suggest that bubble behavior is common in the cryptocurrency market,contradicting the efficient market hypothesis.

在电力变压器差动保护中,主要关注的是如何成功地识别励磁涌流。本文提出了一种基于离散小波变换的内部故障与涌流的判别方法。应用小波变换将差动电流分解为多阶频带的细节系数;通过对不同的涌流和内部故障情况的研究分析,发现在细节系数变化显著的情况下,故障条件是最有可能的。这一事实被用来建立一个判断标准,将相对小波能量定义为特征量以提取不同不同时刻的特征。另外,以能量变化量为基础,在两个连续的时间间隔内对相对小波能量的值进行了比较监测,在这一差异不是很显著量的情况下则认为是励磁涌流。在MATLAB仿真平台上进行了该算法的性能评估,并对不同的瞬态情况进行了仿真实验。

Background: Urosepsis is life-threatening sepsis that leads to organ dysfunction and results from a defective response to a urinary tract infection;the major precipitating is obstructive uropathy in the upper or lower urinary tract (UT). The magnitude and burden of bacteria that caused uropathy were reported to increase annually. In 30% of all septic patients who were diagnosed with urosepsis, 1.5% of them were found in urology and a quarter due to hospital-acquired urinary tract infections (HAUTIs). This study aims to determine the clinical pattern and the frequency of commonly used antibiotics against bacteria associated with urosepsis among Sudanese patients. Methods: This was a cross sectional laboratory-based study, study subjects were recruited from patients attended to Gezira Hospital for Renal diseases and surgery (GHRDS) and was diagnosed, on clinical and laboratory basis, to have urosepsis. Hundred (n = 100) urine samples were collected and inoculated on cysteine lactose electrolyte deficient agar (CLED) media and identify using the suitable biochemical test and performed antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) by Kirby Bauer disc diffusion technique for selected antimicrobial agents, according to clinical laboratory standard institute (CLSI) guidelines. Results: Amongst urosepsis infection the frequency of E. coli, S. aureus, Proteus mirabilis, Klebseilla pneumonia and Pseudomonas aeruginosa were (37%, 21%, 10%, 6%, 4% respectively). Resistance to commonly prescribed antibiotics was high, ranging from 17% for meropenem to 100% for cefepime. P. aeruginosa was multidrug resistant compared with other isolates. Conclusions: There was high rate of antibiotic resistance against the common causes of urosepsis in GHRDS, and this reflects the importance of culture and sensitivity test and necessitates adoption of guidelines for selection of suitable antibiotic.

Characterization of a Watermelon mosaic virus Isolate Inducing a Severe Disease in Watermelon in Saudi Arabia

In one of the field visits to cucurbits-growing areas in vicinity of Riyadh city during 2013-2015,severe virus disease-like symptoms were observed on watermelon in Al-Ammariyah *** inoculation of the different plant species used in the host range study,from the collected symptomatic watermelon samples,produced mosaic symptoms on Citrullus lanatus,Cucumis sativus,Cucurbita pepo,***,*** *** and Nicotiana benthamiana,but chlorotic local lesions on Chenopodium *** symptoms were observed on the rest of the other inoculated plant *** virus was transmitted by Aphis gossypii and *** in a non-persistent *** electron microscopic examination of watermelon samples using the leaf dip method revealed only microscopic filamentous shaped virus particles measuring 750 nm in length and 12 nm in diameter in *** revealed positive results only to Watermelon mosaic virus(WMV)and negative to Zucchini yellow mosaic virus(ZYMV),Papaya ringspot virus(PRSV),Cucumber mosaic virus(CMV)and Squash mosaic virus(SqMV).Specific bands of approximately 825 bp were formed on agarose gel following electrophoresis of the reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR)products of each of the naturally infected ***,and artificially infected ***,***,***,and *** homology tree that was constructed from multiple sequence alignments of the detected Saudi Arabian isolate of WMV(WMV-SA)with 18 other isolates of WMV from nine different countries indicated close relationships between *** isolates from Spain and two other isolates from Iran were more closely related to the WMV-SA whereas the isolate from Poland was the least.
