The mountains of Southwest China comprise a significant large mountain range and biodiversity hotspot imperiled by global climate *** high species diversity in this mountain system has long been attributed to a complex set of factors,and recent large-scale macroevolutionary investigations have placed a broad timeline on plant diversification that stretches from 10 million y.a.s ago(Mya)to the *** our increasing understanding of the temporal mode of speciation,finer-scale populationlevel investigations are lacking to better refine these temporal trends and illuminate the abiotic and biotic influences of cryptic *** is largely due to the dearth of organismal sampling among closely related species and populations,spanning the incredible size and topological heterogeneity of this *** study dives into these evolutionary dy.a.ics of speciation using genomic and ecomorphological data of Stellera chamaejasme *** identified four previously unrecognized cryptic species having indistinct morphological traits and large metapopulation of evolving lineages,suggesting a more recent diversification(~2.67-0.90 Mya),largely influenced by Pleistocene glaciation and biotic *** factors likely influenced allopatric speciation and advocated cyclical warming–cooling episodes along elevational gradients during the *** study refines the evolutionary timeline to be much younger than previously implicated and raises the concern that projected future warming may influence the alpine species diversity,necessitating increased conservation efforts.

Preliminary Study of Chemical Elements Distribution in Petroleum Source Rocks Donga and yogou Formations of the Termit Sedimentary Basin (Est-Niger)

XRF and EDX analyses were carried out on 18 batches of representative raw samples to determine the distribution of major chemical elements in the petroleum source rocks of Donga and yogou formations of Termit sedimentary basin. The chemical composition of these formations is dominated by silicon (Si), aluminum (Al) and iron (Fe). This is consistent with the oxide composition, which is also dominated by silicon oxide (SiO2), aluminum oxide (Al2O3) and iron monoxide (FeO). No less important chemical elements are calcium (Ca), potassium (K), sulfur (S), titanium (Ti), magnesium (Mg), manganese (Mn) and barium (Ba), as well as some of their oxides. All these major chemical elements are carried by silicate detrital minerals associated with pyrite and goethite and/or clay minerals such as kaolinite and interstratified illite, smectite and chlorite. This trend is illustrated by the values of the Si/Al and SiO2/Al2O3 ratios.

Exoscopy of Detrital Zircons from Niamey Neoproterozoic Sandstones (Eastern Edge of the West African Craton, Southwestern Niger): Interpretation of Detrital Sediments Provenance

This study focuses on exoscopic analyses of detrital zircon grains of Archean and Paleoproterozoic age, contained in the sediments from the Niamey Neoproterozoic sandstones (Niamey region), with a view to confirming the sediments sources already proposed (Kénéma-Man domain for Archean-age zircons and Baoulé Mossi domain for Paleoproterozoic-age zircons). Exoscopic analysis reveals that Archean zircon grains are more corroded, with rounded to sub-rounded shapes, while Paleoproterozoic zircon grains are less corroded and mostly.a.gular in shape. The strong corrosion of Archean zircon grains, implying long-distance transport, is consistent with the remoteness of the Kenema-Man domain which are the source these sediments. The fact that the Paleoproterozoic zircon grains show little or no wear implies a proximal source of sediments, corresponding to the Baoulé Mossi domain.

Obstetric Fistula: Epidemiological, Social and Therapeutic Aspects: Prospective Study of 196 Patients Admitted to the ZINDER Mother and Child Health Centre (CSME)

Introduction: Obstetric fistula (OF) is an abnormal communication between the genital and urinary tracts and/or associated with a recto-vaginal communication resulting from prolonged dystocic delivery. It is a frequent pathology in underdeveloped countries. In Zinder no study has been carried out on obstetric fistula. The aim of this study was to evaluate the epidemiological, social impact and therapeutic aspects of obstetric fistula at the CSME of Zinder. Patient and Method: This was a descriptive cross-sectional study of obstetric fistula care at CSME during the period of (January 2018 to June 2020). Results: A total of 196 cases were collected over 30 months. This represents an annual incidence of 78.4 fistulas. The median age of the patients was 18.63 y.a.s, and more than 65% were over 20 y.a.s old. One hundred and ninety-one patients (97.45%) did not attend school, and 56.12% (n = 110) lived in poly.a.ous households. One hundred and fifty-one women (n = 151), 77.04% had full assistance from their husband during the first four (4) months of the pathology. Twenty-four (12.24%) had been notified of repudiation. Obstetrical risk of dystocia was found in 39.79% (n = 78) of the patients, of whom 24.49% (n = 48) had a focused antenatal consultation (CPNR). The labour lasted more than 24 hours in 100%. The majority of women are multiparous and 60% had at least 2 pregnancies. vesicovaginal fistula is the main pathological type with 86.23%. Fistulas were closed in 83.16% and 68.87% exited without urine loss. Conclusion: Obstetric fistula is a devastating disease affecting girls and young women in Niger, as in other countries in Africa and Asia. It is a major concern worldwide and is a social tragedy because it is disabling and depressing.

Geotechnical Risk Assessment and Geological Origin of Building Fracturation in Agadez City(North Niger)

The Agadez city is built on the faulted and fractured sandstones formation of the“Agadez Sandstones”,which deposit in unconformity on the Precambrian basement of the Aïr *** present study focuses on the geotechnical risk assessment and geological origin of building fracturation in Agadez city.a.methodological approach integrating measurement of fractures planes affecting the buildings and their statistical analysis has been *** analysis of obtained data showed that in 100 fractured buildings,about 3%buildings are at risk of collapse(very high risk),64%buildings are fractured(medium risk of collapse),and 34%buildings are cracked(lower risk of collapse).These results showed as well that the nature of the material(rheology)influences the buildings ***,the buildings made from cement are more easily fractured than buildings made from clay *** analysis of fracture planes reveals that the geotechnical risk associated with buildings fracturation propagates in NW-SE,corresponding to the major directions of risk propagation,mainly dipping in northwest sectors(zones)of the Agadez *** interpretation of geological and geophysical data combined to those obtained in the case of this study,reveals that the risk associated with buildings fracturation in Agadez city is caused by geological seismic events and or anthropogenic activities(explosive firing on the uranium mining sites like Somaïr and Cominak).

Female Genital Fistula Deemed Incurable in a National Obstetric Fistula Reference Center in Niger

Introduction Female genital fistula remains a global concern especially in incoming countries. The majority of cases resulted from obstructed delivery labor. The treatment is by surgery exceptional by probe for very small cases. But some ones remain incurable after several surgery theaters. The objective of this study is to establish the epidemiology.a.atomopathological types and prognosis of FGF considered being incurable in our center. Methods This is a retrospective and prospective descriptive study from January 2, 2017 to July 14, 2021 on incurable cases of female genital fistula recorded at the Centre National de Réparation de Fistule Obstétricale (CNRFO) of Niamey for complex cases of fgf. The epidemiology, the lesions of vagina, uretra, bladder, the treatment and prognosis have been studied. Results A total of 522 cases were operated within 5 cases given incurable (0.95%). The 5 cases were 37 - 49 y.a.s old, they had fistula at their first delivery, the mean age of the fistula was around 9 y.a.s. The anatomopathological founds were vaginal severe sclerosis, extensive supra-trigonal fistula, total ureteral destruction, and partial bladder destruction. All the 5 patients treated by surgery were declared incurable. Conclusion Female genital fistula is not life-threatening but a major definitive handicap for theses prim parous. The treatment fail is linked with local lesions, continuous urine and fecal incontinency, added by iterative surgery. They remain judged incurable whether a surgery was by skilled practitioner.

Vesico-Vaginal and Recto-Vaginal Fistula and Death Caused by.a.Vaginal Foreign Body in a Body-Packer

Foreign body retained for long duration sometimes causes vesico-vaginal and recto-vaginal fistula. We report a 60-y.a.-old woman with vaginal foreign body causing vesico-vaginal and recto-vaginal fistula;she died after foreign body removal due to septic shock. The patient had vaginal purulent discharge, abdominal pain, and a septic shock. A fragment of stone (limestone) was present in the vagina, which was removed. The patient developed urinary incontinence and fecal incontinence after removal of the foreign body. The examination demonstrated the presence of vesico-vaginal and recto-vaginal fistula. The patient died four days after removal of the foreign body due to septic shock and multi-visceral failure. During the extraction foreign body, bacteria could be disseminated into the systemic circulation and might cause septic shock. Thus, wide-spectrum antibiotic therapy must be used before the procedure, which may decrease the chance of septic shock.
