Constrained minimum power combination for broadband beamformer design in the STFT domain

Beamforming using sensor array is widely used in spatial signal processing since it offers better spatial focusing capability than single sensor. However, in practical appli- cations for broadband signal, there always exists a trade-off issue between the directivity capability of an array and its robustness on system errors. In this paper, in order to combine merits of different beamformers instead of trade-off their per- formances, we propose a constrained minimum-power com- bination method. We firstly analyze two optimal beamform- ers that maximize Directivity Factor （DF） and White Noise gain （WNg） respectively. Then we propose a non-linear combination method, which automatically selects the best beamformer that has the minimum output power, so as to control the unwanted white noise amplification and keep the maximum DF if possible. Two solutions to the proposed com- bination strategy are given. They do not need to determine the correct trade-off factor used in linear combination method, and avoid challenge ~stimations on noise and target statistics required in adaptive beamforming. The performance of the proposed beamformer is evaluated in ideal noise fields and complicated noise fields respectively. It is shown that the proposed beamformer integrates merits of different beamform- ers. It always achieves the best speech quality and biggest noise reduction compared to other popular beamformers.

Investigating distance halo effect of fixed automated speed camera based on taxi gPS trajectory data

Background:The deterrence effect of automated speed camera(ASC)is still ***,it is pointed out that ASC may have varying deterrence effects on different types of road users(e.g.,taxis).Objective:This study intends to investigate the distance halo effect of fixed ASC(hereafter called ASC)on ***:More than 1.34 million taxis’gPS trajectory data were collected.A novel indicator,the delta speed(defined as the difference between the traveling speed and the speed limit),was proposed to continuously describe the variations in traveling *** upstream and downstream critical delta speeds during each time period on weekdays and weekends were obtained by using K-means clustering method,*** on the critical delta speeds,the ranges of upstream and downstream distance halo effects of ASC during different time periods on weekdays and weekends were determined separately and ***:The downstream critical delta speed is smaller than the upstream *** upstream and downstream distance halo effects of ASC on taxis are within a range of 8-2180 m and an area of 10-580 m to the ASC location,*** are no obvious difference in the ranges of upstream and downstream distance halo effects of ASC on taxis between different time periods or between weekdays and ***:The present study confirms that the upstream and downstream distance halo effects of ASC on taxis have different ranges and the stabilities of time-of-day and *** application:The findings of this study can provide a basic reference for reasonably deploying ASCs within a region.

System optimization-oriented spare parts dynamic configuration model for multi-echelon multi-indenture system

In order to optimize the spares configuration project at different stages during the life cycle, the factor of time is considered to relax the assumption of the spares steady demand in multi-echelon technique for recoverable item control (METRIC) theory. According to the method of systems analysis, the dynamic palm theorem is introduced to establish the prediction model of the spares demand rate, and its main influence factors are analyzed, based on which, the spares support effectiveness evaluation index system is studied, and the system optimization-oriented spares dynamic configuration method for multi-echelon multi-indenture system is proposed. Through the analysis of the optimization algorithm, the layered marginal algorithm is designed to improve the model calculation efficiency. In a given example, the multi-stage spares configuration project during its life cycle is gotten, the research result conforms to the actual status, and it can provide a new way for the spares dynamic optimization.

Helicobacter pylori neutrophil-activating protein:From molecular pathogenesis to clinical applications

Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) neutrophil-activating protein (HP-NAP) was originally identified as a virulence factor of H. pylori for its ability to activate neutrophils to generate respiratory burst by releasing reactive oxygen species. Later on, HP-NAP was also found to be involved in the protection of H. pylori from DNA damage, supporting the survival of H. pylori under oxidative stress. This protein is highly conserved and expressed by virtually all clinical isolates of H. pylori. The majority of patients infected with H. pylori produced antibodies specific for HP-NAP, suggesting its important role in immunity. In addition to acting as a pathogenic factor by activating the innate immunity through a wide range of human leukocytes, including neutrophils, monocytes, and mast cells, HP-NAP also mediates adaptive immunity through the induction of T helper cell type I responses. The pro-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties of HP-NAP not only make it play an important role in disease pathogenesis but also make it a potential candidate for clinical use. Even though there is no convincing evidence to link HP-NAP to a disease outcome, recent findings supporting the pathogenic role of HP-NAP will be reviewed. In addition, the potential clinical applications of HP-NAP in vaccine development, clinical diagnosis, and drug development will be discussed.

Efficient coating fabrication of onion-like carbon nanoparticles via aerosol deposition

In this work,an onion-like carbon(OLC)nanoparticle coating with a micron-sized thickness was fabricated via aerosol deposition(AD).During the room temperature impact consolidation(RTIC),the OLC nanoparticles(5-10 nm)experienced remarkable deformation along both the perpendicular and parallel directions to the coating-substiate *** deformation,mechanical interlocking,and van der Waals forces between the OLC particles were revealed as the major regimes for coating *** aerosol deposition technique might open new avenues for fabricating carbonaceous nanostructures for various functional applications.

On Cost Minimization for Cache-Enabled D2D Networks with Recommendation

To accommodate the tremendous increase of mobile data traffic,cache-enabled device-to-device(D2D)communication has been taken as a promising technique to release the heavy burden of cellular networks since popular contents can be pre-fetched at user devices and shared among *** a result,cellular traffic can be offloaded and an enhanced system performance can be ***,due to the limited cache capacity of mobile devices and the heterogeneous preferences among different users,the requested contents are most likely not be proactively cached,inducing lower cache hit *** system,on the other hand,is able to reshape users’request schema,mitigating the heterogeneity to some extent,and hence it can boost the gain of edge *** this paper,the cost minimization problem for the social-aware cache-enabled D2D networks with recommendation consideration is investigated,taking into account the constraints on the cache capacity budget and the total number of recommended files per user,in which the contents are sharing between the users that trust each *** minimization problem is an integer non-convex and non-linear programming,which is in general ***,we propose a timeefficient joint recommendation and caching decision *** simulation results show that the proposed scheme converges quickly and significantly reduces the average cost when compared with various benchmark strategies.

Active disturbance rejection control for hydraulic width control system for rough mill

The highly nonlinear behavior of the system limits the performance of classical linear proportional and integral （PI） controllers used for hot rolling. An active disturbance rejection controller is proposed in this paper to deal with the nonlinear problem of hydraulic servo system in order to preserve last response and small overshoot of control system. The active disturbance rejection （ADR） controller is composed of nonlinear tracking differentiator （TD）, extended state observer （ESO） and nonlinear feedback （NF） law. An example of the hydraulic edger system case study is investigated to show the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed nonlinear controller, especially, in the circumstance of foreign disturbance and working condition variation, compared with classic PI controller.
