Background:Winter climate change including frequent freeze-thaw episodes and shallow snow cover will have major impacts on the spring regrowth of perennial ***-bloating perennial forage legume species including sainfoin,birdsfoot trefoil,red clover,and alsike clover have been bred for their adaptation to harsh winter *** parallel,the selection of cold-tolerant rhizobial strains could allow earlier symbiotic nitrogen(N)fixation to hasten spring regrowth of ***:To identify strains forming nodules rapidly and showing high N-fixing potential,60 rhizobial strains in association with four temperate legume species were evaluated over 11 weeks under spring soil temperatures for kinetics of nodule formation,nitrogenase activity,and host ***:Strains differed in their capacity to form efficient nodules on legume hosts over *** showing higher nitrogenase activity were arctic strain N10 with sainfoin and strain L2 with birdsfoot *** clovers,nitrogenase activity was similar for control and inoculated plants,likely due to formation of effective nodules in controls by endophyte rhizobia present in ***:Selection based on nodulation kinetics at low temperature,nitrogenase activity,and yield was effective to identify performant rhizobial strains for legume *** use of cold-tolerant strains could help mitigate winter climatic changes.

Clustering is an unsupervised learning method used to organize raw data in such a way that those with the same (similar) characteristics are found in the same class and those that are dissimilar are found in different classes. In this day and age, the very rapid increase in the amount of data being produced brings new challenges in the analysis and storage of this data. Recently, there is a growing interest in key areas such as real-time data mining, which reveal an urgent need to process very large data under strict performance constraints. The objective of this paper is to survey four algorithms including K-Means algorithm, FCM algorithm, EM algorithm and BIRCH, used for data clustering and then show their strengths and weaknesses. Another task is to compare the results obtained by applying each of these algorithms to the same data and to give a conclusion based on these results.

Determinants of invasive strategy in elderly patients with non-ST elevation myocardial infarction

BACKGROUND:Knowledge gaps across literature prevent current guidelines from providing the profile of elderly patients most likely to derive benefit from invasive strategy (IS) in non ST-elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI). Furthermore, the benefit of IS in a real-world elderly population with NSTEMI remains unclear. The aims of this study were to determine factors that lead the cardiologist to opt for an IS in elderly patients with NSTEMI, and to assess the impact of IS on the 6-month all-cause mortality.;METHODS:This multicenter prospective study enrolled all consecutive patients aged ≥ 75 years old who presented a NSTEMI and were hospitalized in cardiology intensive care unit between February 2014 and February 2015. Patients were compared on the basis of reperfusion strategy (invasive or conservative) and living status at six months, in order to determine multivariate predictors of the realization of an IS and multivariate predictors of 6-month mortality.;RESULTS:A total of 141 patients were included; 87 (62%) underwent an IS. The strongest independent determinants of IS were younger age [odds ratio (OR): 0.85, 95%-confidence interval (CI): 0.78-0.92; < 0.001) and lower "Cumulative Illness Rating Scale-Geriatric" number of categories score (OR: 0.83, 95%CI: 0.73-0.95; = 0.002). IS was not significantly associated with 6-month survival (OR: 0.80, 95%CI: 0.27-2.38; = 0.69).;CONCLUSIONS:In real-world elderly patients with NSTEMI, younger patients with fewer comorbidities profited more often from an IS. However, IS did not modify 6-month all-cause mortality.

We demonstrate a simple way of fabricating high performance tunnel devices from p-doped InAs nanowires by tailoring the n-doped surface accumulation layer inherent to InAs surfaces. By using appropriate ammonium sulfide based surface passivation before metallization without any further thermal treatment, we demonstrate characteristics of tunnel p-n junctions, namely Esaki and backward diodes, with figures of merit better than previously published for InAs homojunctions. The further optimization of both the surface doping, in a quantitative way, and the device geometry allows us to demonstrate that these nanowire-based technologically-simple diodes have promising direct current characteristics for integrated high frequency detection or generation.

Guillain-Barrésyndrome(GBS)is often triggered by a preceding bacterial or viral ***,it has been observed in association with acute hepatitis A,B and C,and three cases have been previously described in India in which GBS was associated with acute hepatitis E.A molecular mimicry mechanism is supposed to be involved in the pathogenesis of GBS triggered by infectious agents,although the nature of the shared epitopes has not been characterized in most instances,including that in the case of hepatotropic *** report a case of GBS following acute hepatitis E in a European *** presence of antiganglioside GM2 antibodies in this patient suggested molecular mimicry involving ganglioside GM2 in the pathogenesis of GBS associated with hepatitis E.

Nonlinear increase,invisibility,and sign inversion of a localized fs-laser-induced refractive index change in crystals and glasses

Multiphoton absorption via ultrafast laser focusing is the only technology that allows a three-dimensional structural modification of transparent ***,the magnitude of the refractive index change is rather limited,preventing the technology from being a tool of choice for the manufacture of compact photonic integrated *** propose to address this issue by employing a femtosecond-laser-induced electronic band-gap shift(FLIBGS),which has an exponential impact on the refractive index change for propagating wavelengths approaching the material electronic resonance,as predicted by the Kramers–Kronig *** by theoretical calculations,based on a modified Sellmeier equation,the Tauc law,and waveguide bend loss calculations,we experimentally show that several applications could take advantage of this ***,we demonstrate waveguide bends down to a submillimeter radius,which is of great interest for higher-density integration of fs-laser-written quantum and photonic *** also demonstrate that the refractive index contrast can be switched from negative to positive,allowing direct waveguide inscription in ***,the effect of the FLIBGS can compensate for the fs-laser-induced negative refractive index change,resulting in a zero refractive index change at specific wavelengths,paving the way for new invisibility applications.

Microstructural evolution of a recycled aluminum alloy deformed by equal channel angular pressing process

The microstructural evolution of a recycled aluminum alloy after equal channel angular pressing （ECAP） up to four passes was investigated using X-ray diffxaction （XRD） analysis and transmission electron microscopy （TEM）. Microhardness tests were performed to determine the associated changes in mechanical properties. An ultrafine-grained material has been obtained with a microstructure showing a mixture of highly strained crystallites. A high density of dislocations was achieved as a result of severe plastic deformation （SPD） through the die. Changes in mechanical behavior are also revealed after ECAP due to strain hardening. Thermal analysis and TEM micrographs ob- tained after annealing indicate the succession of the recovery, recrystallization, and grain growth phenomena. Moreover, the energy stored during ECAP may be related to the dislocation density introduced by SPD. We finally emphasize the role played by the precipitates in this alloy.

Video Based Fire Detection Systems on Forest and Wildland Using Convolutional Neural Network

The devastating effects of wildland fire are an unsolved problem,resulting in human losses and the destruction of natural and economic *** neural network(CNN)is shown to perform very well in the area of object *** network has the ability to perform feature extraction and classification within the same *** this paper,we propose a CNN for identifying fire in videos.A deep domain based method for video fire detection is proposed to extract a powerful feature representation of *** on real video sequences,the proposed approach achieves better classification performance as some of relevant conventional video based fire detection methods and indicates that using CNN to detect fire in videos is *** balance the efficiency and accuracy,the model is fine-tuned considering the nature of the target problem and fire *** results on benchmark fire datasets reveal the effectiveness of the proposed framework and validate its suitability for fire detection in closed-circuit television surveillance systems compared to state-of-the-art methods.

Plant defense responses involve several biological processes that allow plants to fight against pathogenic *** these different processes are orchestrated within organs and depend on specific cell types is poorly ***,using single-cell RNA sequencing(scRNA-seq)technology on three independent biological replicates,we identified several cell populations representing the core transcriptional responses of wild-type Arabidopsis leaves inoculated with the bacterial pathogen Pseudomonas syringae *** these populations,we retrieved major cell types of the leaves(mesophyll,guard,epidermal,companion,and vascular S cells)with which we could associate characteristic transcriptional reprogramming and regulators,thereby specifying different cell-type responses to the *** analyses of transcriptional dynamics,on the basis of inference of cell trajectories,indicated that the different cell types,in addition to their characteristic defense responses,can also share similar modules of gene reprogramming,uncovering a ubiquitous antagonism between immune and susceptible ***,it appears that the defense responses of vascular S cells,epidermal cells,and mesophyll cells can evolve along two separate paths,one converging toward an identical cell fate,characterized mostly by lignification and detoxification *** this divergence does not correspond to the differentiation between immune and susceptible cells,we speculate that this might reflect the discrimination between cellautonomous and non-cell-autonomous *** our data provide an upgraded framework to describe,explore,and explain the specialization and the coordination of plant cell responses upon pathogenic challenge.

AIM:To assess the effects and safety of Lactobacillus casei rhamnosus LCR35 complete freeze-dried culture(LCR35) in patients suffering from irritable bowel syndrome(IBS).METHODS:A randomized,double-blind pilot study was performed in 50 patients complaining of IBS symptoms complying with RomeⅢ*** were allocated to receive either LCR35(n = 25) at a minimum daily dose of 6 × 108 colony forming units or placebo(n = 25) for 4 *** inclusion,after treatment and 2 wk later,patients completed the IBS severity *** from baseline in the IBS severity score at the end of treatment was the primary efficacy *** were compared between groups in the whole population and in IBS subtypes(IBS with predominance of constipation,IBS with predominance of diarrhoea,mixed IBS,unsubtyped IBS).The presence of lactobacillus casei rhamnosus in stools was investigated at inclusion and at the end of *** gastrointestinal quality of life questionnaire and the hospital anxiety and depression(HAD) scale were also ***:Both groups were balanced for baseline *** 85% of patients,stool analyses showed that lactobacillus casei rhamnosus able to survive in the digestive *** the whole population,improvements in the IBS severity score did not differ significantly between treatments with a 25% decrease after 4-wk treatment,and a 15% decrease from baseline 2 wk later in both *** IBS subgroups,statistical analysis could not be performed due to small sample size,but a clinical response in favour of LCR35 was observed in IBS patients with predominance of diarrhoea:no change in the symptom severity score was seen with the placebo after 4 wk treatment,whereas a clinically relevant decrease occurred with LCR35(-37% vs-3%).Furthermore,in spite of an increase in symptom intensity,the IBS severity score was maintained below the baseline value 2 wk later with LCR35(-19% from baseline),whilst a slight 5% increase from baseline was observ
