Using Tangent Boost along a Worldline and Its Associated Matrix in the Lie Algebra of the Lorentz Group

In order to generalize the relativistic notion of boost to the case of non inertial particles and to general relativity, we look closer into the definition of the Lie group of Lorentz matrices and its Lie algebra and we study how this group acts on the Minskowski space. We thus define the notion of tangent boost along a worldline. This very general notion gives a useful tool both in special relativity (for non inertial particles or/and for non rectilinear coordinates) and in general relativity. We also introduce a matrix of the Lie algebra which, together with the tangent boost, gives the whole dynamical description of the considered system (acceleration and Thomas rotation). After studying the properties of Lie algebra matrices and their reduced forms, we show that the Lie group of special Lorentz matrices has four one-parameter subgroups. These tools lead us to introduce the Thomas rotation in a quite general way. At the end of the paper, we present some examples using these tools and we consider the case of an electron rotating on a circular orbit around an atom nucleus. We then discuss the twin paradox and we show that when the one who made a journey into space in a high-speed rocket returns home, he is not only younger than the twin who stayed on Earth but he is also disorientated because his gyroscope has turned with respect to earth referential frame.

SNOMED CT: A Clinical Terminology but Also a Formal Ontology

Context and Objective: Over the past few decades, terminologies developed for clinical descriptions have been increasingly used as key resources for knowledge management, data integration, and decision support to the extent that today they have become essential in the biomedical and health field. Among these clinical terminologies, some may possess the characteristics of one or several types of representation. This is the case for the Systematized Nomenclature of Human and Veterinary Medicine—Clinical Terms (SNOMED CT), which is both a clinical medical terminology and a formal ontology based on the principles of semantic web. Methods: We present and discuss, on one hand, the compliance of SNOMED CT with the requirements of a reference clinical terminology and, on the other hand, the specifications of the features and constructions of descriptive of SNOMED CT. Results: We demonstrate the consistency of the reference clinical terminology SNOMED CT with the principles stated in James J. Cimino’s desiderata and we also show that SNOMED CT contains an ontology based on the EL profile of OWL2 with some simplifications. Conclusions: The duality of SNOMED CT shown is crucial for understanding the versatility, depth, and scope in the health field.

The Sergipano Orogenic System(SOS)in southern Borborema Province(NE Brazil)hosts voluminous Neoproterozoic plutonism related to the Brasiliano/Pan-African *** paper presents comprehensive whole-rock geochemical data,titanite U-Pb ages,and the first combined zircon U-Pb and Lu-Hf isotope results for plutonic rocks from the MacururéDomain to constrain their sources,petrogenesis,and tectonic *** magmatic episodes are recognized and record the evolutionary stages of the orogen.(i)Early-collisional magmatism(643–628 Ma)comprises gabbros and diorites with minor tonalites characterized by well-developed tectonic foliation and evidence of solid-state *** rocks are magnesian,high-K calc-alkaline,LILE-and LREE-enriched and provide subchondriticε_(Hf)(t)values(6.5 to4.7)and Orosirian Hf-T^(C)_(DM)model ages(1.83–1.94 Ga).Such features indicate derivation from a lithospheric mantle source metasomatized by incorporating crustal components through subduction processes prior to magma generation,possibly related to the Rhyacian Orogeny(2.20–1.96 Ga).Extensive mixing/mingling between basaltic and crust-derived magmas took place at lower crustal depths,producing coeval hybrid diorites and quartz-diorites.(ii)Syn-collisional magmatism(630–624 Ma)encompasses biotite-and muscovite-bearing granodiorites and monzogranites,preserving their structures parallel to the schistosity of the country *** rocks are leucocratic,weakly metaluminous to peraluminous,and contain abundant surmicaceous *** features and geochemical composition suggest an origin related to the partial melting of graywacke protoliths with a subordinate igneous component.(iii)Late-collisional magmatism(625–600 Ma)includes undeformed and isotropic monzonites and granodiorites,which truncate the regional *** rocks are consistently metaluminous and magnesian,showing affinities with the high-K calc-alkaline to shoshonite *** element modeling with su

A Clinical Test for Diagnosis of Humeroradial Joint Lesions in the Presence of Lateral Elbow Pain: Single-Case Design with Arthroscopic Confirmation

INTRODUCTION: Lateral epicondylosis is a common cause of lateral elbow pain, however, some patients fail conservative management. One reason, many pathologies have similar presentations. There are no valid and reliable clinical tests to differentiate between tendopathy and arthropathy. This single case design looks at the utilization of the humeroradial joint (HRJ) distraction test to diagnose HRJ chondropathy. CASE SUMMARY: 38-year-old male recreational athlete with persistent lateral elbow pain, impaired motion, crepitus and locking. Disability of the Arm Shoulder Hand Questionnaire (DASH): 13.33/100. DASH Sport Module, 68.75/100. Differential Diagnosis: Chondropathy of the HRJ with loose body, based on history of elbow pain and locking, non-capsular pattern of limitation of motion and a positive HRJ distraction test. Intervention: loose body manipulation improved pain free range of motion with continued remarkable HRJ distraction test;referral to orthopedic surgeon. Plain radiographs and CT demonstrated a loose body and marked cartilage thinning within the HRJ. Arthroscopic removal of the loose body and plica resection was performed. Surgical exploration confirmed Grade 3 cartilage lesions within the radial head without involvement of the extensor muscle group. Post-operative physical therapy focused on restoration of accessory joint motion and education on return to functional and recreational activity. OUTCOMES: Full range and normal joint accessory motion, DASH score and DASH Sport Module score reduced to 8.33 and 25, 12-weeks post-operative. CONCLUSION: Arthroscopic exploratory surgery is recommended for chronic lateral elbow pain resistant to conservative management;however, patients who present with pain in the absence of a positive clinical examination and radiographic findings benefit least from arthroscopic evaluation. AIM： To evaluate the impact of therapeutic education on adherence to antiviral treatment and sustained virological response （SVR） in a real-life setting in genotype 2/3 hepatitis C, as there are few adherence data in genotype 2/3 infection, even from randomized trials. METHODS： This prospective survey included genotype 2/3 patients who received peg-interferon alfa-2b and ribavirin. There was no intervention. Adherence wasself-reported over the past 4 wk （peg-interferon） or 7 d （ribavirin）. Adherence to bitherapy was defined as adherence to the two drugs for ≥ 20 wk. SVR was defined as undetectable RNA ≥ 12 wk after the end of treatment. RESULTS： 370/674 patients received education during the first 3 mo of treatment. After 6 too, adherence to bitherapy was higher in educated patients （61% vs 47%, P = 0.01）. Adherence to peg-interferon was 78% vs 69% （P=0.06）. Adherence to ribavirin was 70% vs 56% （P = 0.006）. The SVR （77% vs 70%, P = 0.05） and relapse （10% vs 16%, P = 0.09） rates tended to be improved. After adjustment for baseline differences, education improved adherence [Odds ratio （OR） 1.58, P = 0.04] but not the SVR （OR 1.54, P = 0.06）. CONCLUSION： In genotype 2/3 patients, therapeutic education helped maintain real-life adherence to bitherapy.

Moyamoya Disease Associated with Hyperhomocysteinemia: A Rare Cause of Stroke in Sub-Saharan Africa

Introduction: Moyamoya disease (MMD) is a chronic cerebrovascular disorder characterized by progressive bilateral occlusion of the supraclinoid internal carotid artery (ICA) and its main branches, associated with the development of fine collateral networks, especially adjacent to the site of occlusion in the deep areas of the brain. MMD frequently occurs in East Asian populations, including pediatric and adult patients, and may lead to ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke, headache, epilepsy or transient ischemic attack. The majority is presumed to be of genetic origin and few cases of thrombophilia have been reported in MMD. We report a case of MMD in a young sub-Saharan African woman associated with Hyperhomocysteninemia (HHCys). Observation: A 33-year-old female was seen for aphasia, which had suddenly appeared fourteen days before, and was associated with memory impairment. She mentioned chronic headaches during the 10 previous years, of frontal seat, without migraine criteria. She had no history of hypertension, no obesity, no known dyslipidemia, and there was no family history of stroke. Neurological examination noted Wernicke’s aphasia, with discreet right central facial palsy, associated with memory impairment. The brain MRI revealed semi recent infarct in the left parietal lobe, sequelae in the left temporo-occipital and right frontal with lacunar ischemic lesions, associated with several foci of sub- cortical demyelination. MRA showed stenosis of the supraclinoid carotid arteries and their division branches. In addition, there was a stenosis of the posterior cerebral arteries, with a network of anastomosis at the level of the base of the skull. An investigation of thrombophilia showed hyperhomocysteinemia (HHCys). The diagnosis of moyamoya disease associated with hyperhomocysteinemia was mentioned. Improve Image Decoding in Lightweight Environment Using a Coroutines Based Approach

The JPEG2000 still image compression standard, while providing a remedy for the many shortcomings of its predecessor JPEG, is still slow to establish itself on the Internet. This problem is mainly due to the complexity of the COder-DECoder (CODEC) which implies its non-adoption by large firms and platforms in the field of image acquisition, processing and transmission. Indeed, the encoding and decoding process consumes a lot of CPU, memory and energy resources and takes a lot of computing time. The objective of this paper is to propose a model for decoding jpeg2000 on lightweight devices running on the Android mobile operating system. This implementation uses coroutines, which are a lightweight process model with reduced resource consumption costs compared to conventional AsyncTask threadsets. The model minimizes decoding time while minimizing CPU and memory usage, resulting in a fast and energetically economical decoded image. The results of integrating the coroutines from the main thread into the decoding process instead of the AsyncTask from the main thread produced better performance in terms of computation time, CPU and memory utilization. Indeed, the use of our model has led to a gain of around 23.41% in execution time, 9.8% in CPU utilization rate and 18.56% in memory utilization rate, compared to the model proposed in the literature which uses the threads.
