This article addresses the finite-time boundedness(FTB)problem for nonlinear descriptor ***,the nonlinear descriptor system is represented by the Takagi-Sugeno(T-S)model,where fuzzy representation is assumed to be appearing not only in both the state and input matrices but also in the derivative *** using a descriptor redundancy approach,the fuzzy representation in the derivative matrix is reformulated into a linear ***,we introduce a fuzzy sliding mode control(FSMC)law,which ensures the finite-time boundedness(FTB)of closed-loop fuzzy control systems over the reaching phase and sliding motion ***,by further employing the descriptor redundancy representation,the sufficient condition for designing FSMC law,which ensures the FTB of the closed-loop control systems over the entire finite-time interval,is derived in terms of linear matrix inequalities(LMIs).Finally,a simulation study with control of a photovoltaic(PV)nonlinear system is given to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

For random variables and random weights satisfying Marcinkiewicz-Zygmund and Rosenthal type moment inequalities, we establish complete convergence results for randomly weighted sums of the random variables. Our results generalize those of(Thanh et al. SIAM J. Control Optim., 49,106–124(2011), Han and Xiang J. Ineq. Appl., 2016, 313(2016), Li et al. J. Ineq. Appl., 2017, 182(2017), and Wang et al. Statistics, 52, 503–518(2018).)

Due to unreliable and bandwidth-limited characteristics of communication link in networked control systems,the realtime compensated methods for single-output systems and multioutput systems are proposed in this paper based on the compressed sensing(CS)theory and sliding window technique,by which the estimates of dropping data packets in the feedback channel are obtained and the performance degradation induced by packet drops is ***,in order to reduce the cumulative error caused by the algorithm,the compensated estimates for single-output systems are corrected via the regularization term;considering the process of single-packet transmission,a new sequential CS framework of sensor data streams is introduced to effectively compensate the dropping packet on single-channel of multi-output systems;in presence of the medium access constraints on multi-channel,the communication sequence for scheduling is coupled to the algorithm and the estimates of the multiple sensors for multi-output systems are obtained via the regularization *** results illustrate that the proposed methods perform well and receive satisfactory performance.

Hepatitis C virus(HCV)is a major cause of liver disease *** is able to evade host defense mechanisms,including both innate and acquired immune responses,to establish persistent infection,which results in a broad spectrum of pathogenicity,such as lipid and glucose metabolism disorders and hepatocellular carcinoma *** HCV genome is characterized by a high degree of genetic diversity,which can be associated with viral sensitivity or resistance(reflected by different virological responses)to interferon(IFN)-based *** this regard,it is of importance to note that polymorphisms in certain HCV genomic regions have shown a close correlation with treatment *** particular,among the HCV proteins,the core and nonstructural proteins(NS)5A have been extensively studied for their correlation with responses to IFN-based *** review aims to cover updated information on the impact of major HCV genetic factors,including HCV genotype,mutations in amino acids 70 and91 of the core protein and sequence heterogeneity in the IFN sensitivity-determining region and IFN/ribavirin resistance-determining region of NS5A,on virological responses to IFN-based therapy.

Temporal lobe resection is an important treatment option for epilepsy that involves removal of potentially essential brain regions. Selective amygdalohippocampectomy is a widely performed temporal lobe surgery. We suggest starting the incision for selective amygdalohippocampectomy at the inferior temporal gyrus based on diffusion magnetic resonance imaging（MRI） tractography. Diffusion MRI data from 20 normal participants were obtained from Parkinson＇s Progression Markers Initiative（PPMI） database（***）. A tractography algorithm was applied to extract neuronal fiber information for the temporal lobe, hippocampus, and amygdala. Fiber information was analyzed in terms of the number of fibers and betweenness centrality. Distances between starting incisions and surgical target regions were also considered to explore the length of the surgical path. Middle temporal and superior temporal gyrus regions have higher connectivity values than the inferior temporal gyrus and thus are not good candidates for starting the incision. The distances between inferior temporal gyrus and surgical target regions were shorter than those between middle temporal gyrus and target regions. Thus, the inferior temporal gyrus is a good candidate for starting the incision. Starting the incision from the inferior temporal gyrus would spare the important（in terms of betweenness centrality values） middle region and shorten the distance to the target regions of the hippocampus and amygdala.

This paper considers an optimal sequential inspection schedule for a second-hand product after that the free nonrenewable warranty is expired. The length of warranty is prespecified and during the warranty period, the product is minimally repaired by the dealer when it fails. Following the expiration of the non-renewing warranty, the product is inspected and upgraded sequentially a fixed number of times at the expenses of the *** each inspection, the failure rate of the product is reduced proportionally so that the product is upgraded. The product is assumed to deteriorate as it ages and the replacement of the product occurs when a fixed number of inspections are rendered. In addition,the intervals between two successive inspections are assumed to decrease monotonically. The main objective of this paper is to determine the optimal improvement level to upgrade the product at each inspection so that the expected maintenance cost during the life cycle of the product is minimized from the perspective of the customer. Under the given cost structures, we derive an explicit formula to obtain the expected maintenance cost incurred during the life cycle of the product and discuss the method to find the optimal level of the improvement analytically in case the failure times follow the Weibull distribution. Numerical results are analyzed to observe the impact of relevant parameters on the optimal solution.

Fragility curves of concrete bridges retrofitted by column jacketing

The Northridge earthquake inflicted various levels of damage upon a large number of Caltrans' bridges not retrofitted by column *** this respect,this study represents results of fragility curve development for two (2) sample bridges typical in southern California,strengthened for seismic retrofit by means of steel jacketing of bridge *** Carlo simulation is performed to study nonlinear dynamic responses of the bridges before and after column *** curves in this study are represented by lognormal distribution functions with two parameters and developed as a function of *** sixty (60) ground acceleration time histories for the Los Angeles area developed for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) SAC (SEAOC-ATC CUREe) steel project are used for the dynamic analysis of the bridges. The improvement in the fragility with steel jacketing is quantified by comparing fragility curves of the bridge before and after column *** this first attempt to formulate the problem of fragility enhancement,the quantification is made by comparing the median values of the fragility curves before and after the *** the hypothesis that this quantification also applies to empirical fragility curves developed on the basis of Northridge earthquake damage,the enhanced version of the empirical curves is developed for the ensuing analysis to determine the enhancement of transportation network performance due to the retrofit.

In physical vapor deposition on a magnetron cathode, temperature of sensitive components must be kept under threshold limit, so as to ensure the cathode reliability,the process reproducibility, and the best quality of thin *** can be achieved by an adequate design to enhance the dissipation of heat generated at the cathode. In this paper,temperature distribution and streamlines velocity of the cathode coolant inside a cathode magnetron are analyzed by using CFD solver ANSYS FLUENT in the single-phase method in combination with k–e standards turbulent *** results show that the design is appropriate under the calculation parameters, and for high heat densities some improvements are necessary to enhance heat dissipation and keep temperature under the threshold limit.

A new method for liquefying coal using dielectric barrier discharge plasma has been *** utilizing waste oil as the solvent and processing coal nano powder in the plasma for 10 min,we have attained a liquid yield of more than 80%.The experiment shows that not only the coal nanopowder promoted the liquefaction process,but hydrogen radicals improved the liquid yield *** the plasma processing,the phenomenon of the changing color of the nanopowder solution and not producing a solid residue has been obviously *** rational parameters that affected the liquefaction of coal nanopowder have been achieved through the experiment,and the liquefied products have been analyzed.
