Groundwater is an important natural resource for all human activity. Today, due to climate change and population growth, the demand has increased considerably, thus requiring their evaluation to ensure sustainability. However, one of the important but difficult to estimate parameters due to its variability is the recharge. This work aims to map the potential recharge of aquifers in the departments of Yamoussoukro and Toumodi. Saaty’s AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process) multi-criteria analysis technique was used by integrating different thematic layers. First, a reclassification then weighting of these parameters was made according to their influence in the recharge process. Finally, they were integrated into a GIS to produce the map of potential groundwater recharge zones. The results indicate that the potential high recharge areas represent approximately 43.11% of the area of the study area. These areas appear scattered in the sub-prefecture of Yamoussoukro, Kokoumbo Attiegouakro, Toumodi et Kpouèbo.

Background:A better understanding of why HIV-exposed/infected children fail to attend their scheduled follow-up medical appointments for HIV-related care would allow for interventions to enhance the delivery of *** aim of this study was to determine characteristics of the caregiver-child dyad(CCD)associated with children’s non-adherence to scheduled follow-up medical appointments in HIV programs in ***:We conducted a case-control analysis of the usual-care group of CCDs from the MORE CARE trial,in which the effect of mobile phone reminders for HIV-exposed/infected children in attending follow-up appointments was assessed from January to March *** this study,the absence of a child at their appointment was considered a case and the presence of a child at their appointment was defined as a *** used three multivariate binary logistic regression *** best-fit model was the one which had the smallest chi-square value with the Hosmer-Lemeshow test(HLχ^(2)).Magnitudes of associations were expressed by odds ratio(OR),with a p-value<0.05 considered as statistically ***:We included 30 cases and 31 *** best-fit model which considered the sex of the adults and children separately(HLχ^(2)=3.5)showed that missing scheduled medical appointments was associated with:lack of formal education of the caregiver(OR 29.1,95%CI 1.1-777.0;p=0.044),prolonged time to the next appointment/follow-up(OR[1 week increase]1.4,95%CI 1.03-2.0;p=0.032),and being a female child(OR 5.2,95%CI 1.2-23.1;p=0.032).One model(HLχ^(2)=10.5)revealed that woman-boy pairs adhered less to medical appointments compared to woman-girl pairs(OR 4.9,95%CI 1.05-22.9;p=0.044).Another model(HLχ^(2)=11.1)revealed that man-boy pairs were more likely to attend appointments compared to woman-girl pairs(OR 0.23,95%CI 0.06-0.93;p=0.039).There were no statistical associations for the ages of the children or the caregivers,the study sites,or the HIV status(confirmed vs.

The recrystallization texture evolution in heavily cold-rolled （93%） FeCo-2V alloy with annealing temperature and time was investigated by X-ray diffraction and electron backscatter diffraction. It was found that the orientation density of α-fiber texture component fluctuates with increasing annealing temperature and time. The transmission electron microscopy images show that abundant precipitates appear inside the recrystallized grains and around the grain boundaries. The amount and size of the precipitates also vary with annealing temperature and time. The enhancement of the α-fiber coincides well with the increase of number density of fine precipitates, indicating that the fine precipitates facilitate the development of α-fiber. The annealing texture evolution observed in the FeCo alloy could be attributed to the facilitating effect of the precipitates on the development of α-fiber and the ordering process.

Copper oxide nanowires with varying oxidation states are prepared and their activity for water oxidation is studied. The nanowires with a CuO phase are found to be the most active, and their degree of crystallinity is important in achieving efficient water oxidation. For the crystalline CuO nanowires in a weakly basic Na2CO3 electrolyte, a Tafel slope of 41 mV/decade, an overpotential of approximately 500 mV at - 10 mA/crn2 （without compensation for the solution resistance）, and a faradaic efficiency of nearly 100% are obtained. This electrode maintains a stable current for over 15 lx The low overpotential of 500 mV at 10 mA/cm2, small Tafel slope, long-term stability, and low cost make CuO one of the most promising catalysts for water oxidation. Moreover, the evolution of the CuO nanowire morphology over time is studied by electron microscop）-revealing that the diffusion of Cu ions from the interior of the nanowires to their surface causes the aggregation of individual nanowires over time. However, despite this aggregation, the current density remains nearly constant, because the total electrochemically active surface area of CuO does not change.

In this work, a fast(0.5 h), green microwave-assisted synthesis of single crystalline Sb_2Se_3 nanowires was developed. For the first time we demonstrated a facile solvent-mediated process, whereby intriguing nanostructures including antimony selenide(Sb_2Se_3) nanowires and selenium(Se) microrods can be achieved by merely varying the volume ratio of ethylene glycol(EG) and H_2O free from expensive chemical and additional surfactant. The achieved uniform Sb_2Se_3 nanowire is single crystalline along [001]growth direction with a diameter of 100 nm and a length up to tens of micrometers. When evaluated as an anode of lithium-ion battery, Sb_2Se_3 nanowire can deliver a high reversible capacity of 650.2 m Ah g^(-1) at 100 mA g^(-1) and a capacity retention of 63.8% after long-term 1000 cycles at 1000 mA g^(-1), as well as superior rate capability(389.5 m Ah g^(-1) at 2000 mA g^(-1)). This easy solvent-mediated microwave synthesis approach exhibits its great universe and importance towards the fabrication of high-performance metal chalcogenide electrode materials for future low-cost, large-scale energy storage systems.

Petrography of alluvial sands as a past and present environmental indicator:Case of the Loire River(France)

Four sample sets of the Upper and Middle Loire river sands were analyzed in order to study the impact of natural and anthropogenic factors on their petrographic composition in space(on an 800 km stretch) and *** was determined by modal analysis of three sand-size fractions using a polarizing optical microscope and calculated for each sample("standard sand" = Sst).The watershed is composed mainly of endogenic(Massif Central) and sedimentary(southern Parisian Basin) rocks.B-set sands collected in channels for different water flows in 1996 show that Sst compositions vary by only 5%.Present-day sands in the Upper Loire and Middle Loire have very high petrographic immaturity comparing to others worldwide fluvial sands,although bio-climatic conditions favor sand maturation by source-rock weathering in the *** shows the strong impact of the Massif Central on sediment yield due to relief rejuvenation as a consequence of the formation of the Alps during the *** sands stored during the Weichselian and the Holocene in the Middle Loire floodplain,although partly weathered since their deposition,show higher inputs from the endogenic rocks of the Massif Central than present-day *** can be explained by Weichselian periglacial conditions and the development of crop farming since the Neolithic,which favored mechanical erosion,particularly in the Massif Central which is characterized by a cold,humid climate and steep *** upstream-downstream change in the composition of presently deposited sand is low in the diked *** shows however that basalt and some heavy mineral grains are vulnerable to abrasion during transport and indicates a marked sediment yield from ancient sediment stored in the *** is in line with the high incision of the river bed over the last 150 years partly due to dam construction and aggregate mining.

Traumatic Penile Amputation Post Circumcision: A Series of 3 Cases

Circumcision remains a frequently performed surgical procedure and could be associated with various complications, ranging from mild to catastrophic. Penile amputation is a rare and severe complication usually complex and challenging to manage. We describe three cases of penile amputation injuries following circumcision referred within a week at the urological service of the Yaoundé Central Hospital. The first case was a 5-year-old who had complete penile amputation during circumcision by a nurse assistant at a rural health center. The second was a 7-year-old boy who sustained total penile glans amputation while undergoing circumcision by a nurse under local anesthesia at a rural health facility. The third involved a 6-year-old who had total penile amputation with loss of the amputated stump during circumcision by a traditional practitioner at home. Non-microsurgical penile re-implantations were done with diverse outcomes. The preservation of the amputated stump, the ischemic time and the severity of injury are factors affecting surgical outcome. The aim of this study is to evaluate our management experience and outcome of penile amputation injuries in resource-limited settings. Microsurgical replantation remains the gold standard in the management of penile amputation injuries. However, in resource-limited settings macroscopic replantation could be used as an alternative remedy to salvage the amputated penis.

Aim： To investigate whether urine is a good medium for screening and whether there is a correlation between the amount of extracted DNA and human papillomavirus （HPV）-positivity. Methods： In the present study, 30 first-voided urine （FVU） specimens and 20 urethroglandular swabs using cervex-brushes from male partners of HPV-positive patients, and 31 FVU specimens and 100 liquid-based cervix cytology leftovers sampled with cervix-brushes from HPV-positive women were examined for the presence of β-globin. Oncogenic HPV were detected using type-specific PCR. Results： β-globin was found in all the brushed samples, whereas it was found in only 68.9% of the FVU specimens. HPV-PCR was positive in 60.0% of the male brushes, in 29% of the female brushes and in 0% of the male FVU specimens. DNA concentration was, respectively, 0.9998 ng/μL, 37.0598 ng/μL and 0.0207 ng/μL. Conclusion： Urine is not a good tool for HPV detection, probably because the low DNA concentration reflects a low amount of collected cells. β-globin is measurable in FVU by real time quantitative PCR, but the DNA concentration is lower compared to brush sampling for both genders. β-globin-positivity of urethral and cervical swabs is 100%, showing a higher mean concentration of DNA, leading to a higher detection rate of HPV. This is the first article linking DNA- concentration to the presence of HPV.
