Background:The goal of this study is to determine the expression and localization of the cannabinoid receptor type 1(CB1R),the synthesizing enzyme N-acyl phosphatidyl-ethanolamine phospholipase D(NAPE-PLD),and the degradation enzyme fatty acid amide hydrolase(FAAH)in the vervet monkey area V1 to better understand the mechanisms underlying the effects of eCB system modulation on cortical visual ***:Using Western blots and immunohistochemistry,we investigated the laminar and cellular expression patterns of CB1R,NAPE-PLD,and FAAH across the rostrocaudal axis of the vervet monkey(Chlorocebus sabaeus)primary visual ***:CB1R,NAPE-PLD,and FAAH were expressed in V1 throughout the rostrocaudal ***1R showed very low staining in layer(L)4,with higher expression in all other layers,especially L1,followed by L2 and ***-PLD and FAAH expression patterns were similar,but not quite as low in ***1R,NAPE-PLD,and FAAH were localized in vGlut2-positive cells,representing glutamatergic projection neurons,and in somatostatin(SST)-positive cells,a class of GABAergic ***:The low level of CB1R in L4 indicates less direct endocannabinoid modulation of V1 afferents from the dLGN,but that greater modulation may occur via the higher expression of CB1R in L2 and L3 on the way to the dorsal and ventral visual *** is further supported by the higher expression of NAPE-PLD and FAAH in these *** in vGlut2-positive and SST-positive cells represents a role at both glutamatergic and GABAergic *** data indicate that CB1R may influence the network of activity patterns in the visual streams after the visual information has reached V1,and thus may influence visual perception.

Background:The expression,localization,and function of the endocannabinoid system has been well characterized in recent years in the monkey retina and in the primary thalamic relay,the lateral geniculate nucleus(dLGN).Few data are available on cortical recipients’structures of the dLGN,namely the primary visual cortex(V1).The goal of this study is to characterize the expression and localization of the metabotropic cannabinoid receptor type 1(CB1R),the synthesizing enzyme N-acyl phosphatidyl-ethanolamine phospholipase D(NAPE-PLD),and the degradation enzyme fatty acid amide hydrolase(FAAH)in the vervet monkey area ***:Using Western blots and immunohistochemistry,we investigated the expression patterns of CB1R,NAPE-PLD,and FAAH in the vervet monkey primary visual ***:CB1R,NAPE-PLD,and FAAH were expressed in the primary visual cortex throughout the rostro-caudal ***1R showed very low levels of staining in cortical layer 4,with higher expressions in all other cortical layers,especially layer ***-PLD and FAAH expressions were highest in layers 1,2 and 3,and lowest in layer ***:Interestingly enough,CB1R was very low in layer 4 of V1 in comparison to the other cortical *** visual information coming from the dLGN and entering layer 4Calpha(magno cells)and 4Cbeta(parvo cells)may be therefore modulated by the higher expression levels of CB1R in cortical layers 2 and 3 on the way to the dorsal and ventral visual *** is further supported by the higher expression of NAPE-PLD and FAAH in the outer cortical *** data indicate that CB1R system can influence the network of activity patterns in the visual stream after the visual information has reached area *** novel results provide insights for understanding the role of the endocannabinoids in the modulation of cortical visual inputs,and hence,visual perception.

To establish consensual definitions of anoperineal lesions of Crohn’s (APLOC) disease and assess interobserver agreement on their diagnosis between experts. METHODSA database of digitally recorded pictures of APLOC was examined by a coordinating group who selected two series of 20 pictures illustrating the various aspects of APLOC. A reading group comprised: eight experts from the Société Nationale française de Colo Proctologie group of study and research in proctology and one academic dermatologist. All members of the coordinating and reading groups participated in dedicated meetings. The coordinating group initially conducted a literature review to analyse verbatim descriptions used to evaluate APLOC. The study included two phases: establishment of consensual definitions using a formal consensus method and later assessment of interobserver agreement on the diagnosis of APLOC using photos of APLOC, a standardised questionnaire and Fleiss’s kappa test or descriptive statistics. RESULTSTerms used in literature to evaluate visible APLOC did not include precise definitions or reference to definitions. Most of the expert reports on the first set of photos agreed with the main diagnosis but their verbatim reporting contained substantial variation. The definitions of ulceration (entity, depth, extension), anal skin tags (entity, inflammatory activity, ulcerated aspect), fistula (complexity, quality of drainage, inflammatory activity of external openings), perianal skin lesions (abscess, papules, edema, erythema) and anoperineal scars were validated. For fistulae, they decided to follow the American Gastroenterology Association’s guidelines definitions. The diagnosis of ulceration (κ = 0.70), fistulae (κ = 0.75), inflammatory activity of external fistula openings (86.6% agreement), abscesses (84.6% agreement) and erythema (100% agreement) achieved a substantial degree of interobserver reproducibility. Nursing Practice in Recovery Room: A Case of Kibuye Hope Hospital and Mutoyi Hospital

Background: Nursing care in the recovery room is oriented to take into account the patient’s condition after surgery intervention with its main purpose of providing direct and continuous patient observation in emergence from general or regional anesthesia. In the absence of professional assistance, patients can develop complications that can lead them into shock or death. This study aims to understand the place of nurses in guiding nursing care in recovery room in two hospitals of Gitega Province by assessing the nurse’s knowledge and attitudes for the promotion of quality nursing care for post-operative patients. Methods: A cross sectional study design was used to assess the practice of nurses in managing nursing care in the recovery room in these two hospitals. A purposive sampling method was used to select the 82 nurses working in the recovery room for these two hospitals and Alain bouchard’s formula was used to calculate the sample size. Data were collected using a self-report method involving questionnaire completion with five components addressing participants identifications, factors related to the work organization, factors related to the work environment, factors related to healthcare system, and nursing interventions in recovery room. Results: Findings revealed a significant lack of knowledge among the participants and their attitudes were slightly poor as for most of the variables of factors related to healthcare system as their score was less than 50% and their knowledge for nursing interventions was also poor as most of variable scores were less than 25%. Conclusions: The study findings were slightly poor as their scores were less than 50% in most of the variables;therefore, it was recommended that in-service training and workshops should be organized by these healthcare facilities for the purpose of empowering the nurse’s knowledge and practice.
