Geochemistry of Mafic Rocks from the Birimian Basement of doropo (Northeast of Côte d’Ivoire): Petrogenetic and Geodynamic Implications

The northeastern region of Côte d’Ivoire is characterised by a granitic basement mainly composed of biotite granite rocks. According to mapping work in the Gbabédjou and doropo areas, these Birimian granitoids are cut by gabbro dykes and amphibolite enclaves, which are the subject of this study. In order to better understand the role and the implication of mafic rocks in the doropo basement emplacement, a multidisciplinary methodology integrating microscopic observations and geochemical analyses of major and trace elements was carried out on 4 samples considered representative of the outcrops studied. Green hornblende, clinopyroxene, and accessory sphene minerals are found in mafic mineral phases, according to petrographic research. Whole-rock analyses reveal that mafic samples with TiO2 contents 1.1 ratios giving them an orogenic granite nature (I-type). Their REE patterns are moderately fractionated (La/Sm)N = 2.66 - 6.13 and (La/Yb)N = 11.17 - 43.70) with a very negative Eu anomaly (Eu/Eu* = 0.75 - 0.97). The multi-element diagrams are characterized by negative Nb-Ta anomalies and geotectonic studies have identified them as volcanic arc formations. All these characteristics allowed us to distinguish the doropo mafic rocks as formations originating from the juvenile continental crust, emplaced under the Archean tectonics model with significant crustal contamination in the source. Magma driven by mantle diapir has been injected at the base of the continental crust and the heat induces the partial melting of the overlying crust giving rise to mixed liquids. This magma now enriched in LILE was immediately drained to the upper crust to form the mafic rocks from the studied area.

The White-breasted Thrasher (Ramphocinclus brachyurus) is the smallest passerine bird in the Mimids family. Ranked as “endangered” in the IUCN list, the demographic distribution of this species is spread unevenly across two islands in the Lesser Antilles. The Saint-Lucian subspecies, Ramphocinclus brachyurus sanctaeluciae, was estimated to number between 1200 and 1700 individuals, whereas the Martinique subspecies, Ramphocinclus brachyurus brachyurus, was estimated at between 200 and 400 individuals. As an endemic rare species with a high risk of extinction, the Martinique subspecies should be regarded as a conservation priority. The small size of the Martinique subspecies population, its restricted geographical range, and its narrow habitat tolerance make it quite difficult to study. The variability of morphological traits in this subspecies has not been biostatistically analyzed recently. In order to update knowledge and fill in any gaps, we have used the morphometric approach to study the morphological variability of the Martinique subspecies. Global prevalence of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLd)and of NAFLd-hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is estimated to grow in the next *** burden of NAFLd and the evidence that NAFLd-HCC arises also in noncirrhotic patients,explain the urgent need of a better characterization of the molecular mechanisms involved in NAFLd *** and diabetes cause a chronic inflammatory state which favors changes in serum cytokines and adipokines,an increase in oxidative stress,dNA damage,and the activation of multiple signaling pathways involved in cell ***,a role in promoting NAFLd-HCC has been highlighted in the innate and adaptive immune system,dysbiosis,and alterations in bile acids *** dietary,genetic,or combined mouse models have been used to study nonalcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH)development and its progression to HCC,but models that fully recapitulate the biological and prognostic features of human NASH are still *** humans,four single nucleotide polymorphisms(PNPLA3,TM6SF2,GCKR,and MBOAT7)have been linked to the development of both NASH and HCC in cirrhotic and non-cirrhotic patients,whereas HSd17B13 polymorphism has a protective *** addition,higher rates of somatic ACVR2A mutations and a novel mutational signature have been recently discovered in NASH-HCC *** knowledge of the molecular pathogenesis of NAFLd-HCC will be helpful to personalized screening programs and allow for primary and secondary chemopreventive treatments for NAFLd patients who are more likely to progress to HCC.

Urine versus brushed samples in human papillomavirus screening： study in both genders

Aim： To investigate whether urine is a good medium for screening and whether there is a correlation between the amount of extracted dNA and human papillomavirus （HPV）-positivity. Methods： In the present study, 30 first-voided urine （FVU） specimens and 20 urethroglandular swabs using cervex-brushes from male partners of HPV-positive patients, and 31 FVU specimens and 100 liquid-based cervix cytology leftovers sampled with cervix-brushes from HPV-positive women were examined for the presence of β-globin. Oncogenic HPV were detected using type-specific PCR. Results： β-globin was found in all the brushed samples, whereas it was found in only 68.9% of the FVU specimens. HPV-PCR was positive in 60.0% of the male brushes, in 29% of the female brushes and in 0% of the male FVU specimens. dNA concentration was, respectively, 0.9998 ng/μL, 37.0598 ng/μL and 0.0207 ng/μL. Conclusion： Urine is not a good tool for HPV detection, probably because the low dNA concentration reflects a low amount of collected cells. β-globin is measurable in FVU by real time quantitative PCR, but the dNA concentration is lower compared to brush sampling for both genders. β-globin-positivity of urethral and cervical swabs is 100%, showing a higher mean concentration of dNA, leading to a higher detection rate of HPV. This is the first article linking dNA- concentration to the presence of HPV.

Forecasting pest risk level in roses greenhouse:Adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system vs artificial neural networks

The purpose of this study is to establish a system for the prediction of the pests’risk level in a roses greenhouse by applying Artificial Neural Networks(ANNs)and an Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System(ANFIS).Pests in roses greenhouses are known to be fatal to plants if not detected at a premature *** detection could avoid huge agronomic and eco-nomic ***,it could be a difficult task to *** complexities arising from the interactions between variables influencing the development could be a barrier to fulfill the previously mentioned *** output of the developed system represents the next day?s risk level of Western flower Thrips(WFT)(Frankliniella occidentalis)in a roses *** explanatory variables,such as internal temperature,internal humidity,today’s pest risk level and human intervention have been considered for this *** main contributions of this study are three fold;providing a daily estimate WFT risk level,reduc-ing the use of pesticides and finally mitigating yield *** obtained results were com-pared to each other and to real *** performance of the models has been evaluated by 3 statistical *** results showed conspicuous performance of both models,indicating their efficiency for pest *** novelty associated with the sys-tem is the creation of decision support tool for daily risk assessment of *** on a small number of variables,this system is a monitoring tool which contributes to help farm-ers early reveal warning *** addition,this is a first attempt to employ ANNs and ANFIS for the prediction of WFT。

Strong Spatial Aggregation of Martian Surface Temperature Shaped by Spatial and Seasonal Variations in Meteorological and Environmental Factors

Spatio-temporal variation in the Martian surface temperature(MST)is an indicator of ground level thermal processes and hence a building block for climate ***,the distribution of MST exhibits different levels of spatial aggregation or heterogeneity,and varies in space and ***,the effect of regional differences in meteorological or environmental factors on the MST is not well ***,we investigated the degree of spatial autocorrelation of MST across the surface of Mars globally by Moran’s I,and identified the hot spots by GetisOrd G;*.We also estimated the regional differences in the influence of seasonally dominant factors including thermal inertia(TI),albedo,surface pressure,latitude,dust and slope on MST by a geographically weighted regression *** results indicate(1)that MST is spatially aggregated and hot and cold spots varied over time and space.(2)Hemispheric differences in topography,surface TI and albedo were primarily responsible for the hemispheric asymmetry of hot spots.(3)The dominant factors varied by geographical locations and *** example,the seasonal Hadley circulation dominates at the low-latitudes and CO;circulation at the high-latitudes.(4)Regions with extreme variations in topography and low TI were sensitive to meteorological and environmental factors such as dust and CO_(2)*** conclude that the spatial autocorrelation of MST and the spatial and seasonal heterogeneity of influencing factors must be considered when simulating Martian climate *** work provides a reference for further exploration of Martian climatic processes.

Near-infrared germanium(Ge) photodetectors monolithically integrated on top of silicon-on-insulator substrates are universally regarded as key enablers towards chip-scale nanophotonics, with applications ranging from sensing and health monitoring to object recognition and optical communications. In this work, we report on the highdata-rate performance pin waveguide photodetectors made of a lateral hetero-structured silicon-Ge-silicon(Si-Ge-Si) junction operating under low reverse bias at 1.55 μm. The pin photodetector integration scheme considerably eases device manufacturing and is fully compatible with complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor technology. In particular, the hetero-structured Si-Ge-Si photodetectors show efficiency-bandwidth products of^9 GHz at-1 V and ~30 GHz at-3 V, with a leakage dark current as low as ~150 nA, allowing superior signal detection of high-speed data traffic. A bit-error rate of 10-9 is achieved for conventional 10 Gbps, 20 Gbps, and25 Gbps data rates, yielding optical power sensitivities of-13.85 dBm,-12.70 dBm, and-11.25 dBm, respectively. This demonstration opens up new horizons towards cost-effective Ge pin waveguide photodetectors that combine fast device operation at low voltages with standard semiconductor fabrication processes, as desired for reliable on-chip architectures in next-generation nanophotonics integrated circuits.

The simulation of rarefied gasflows through complex porous media is chal-lenging due to the tortuousflow pathways inherent to such *** Lattice Boltzmann method(LBM)has been identified as a promising avenue to solveflows through complex geometries due to the simplicity of its scheme and its high parallel computational *** has been proposed to model the stress-strain relationship with the extended Navier-Stokes equations rather than attempting to directly solve the Boltzmann ***,a regularization technique is required tofilter out non-resolved higher-order components with a low-order velocity *** slip boundary conditions(BCs)have been proposed for the non-regularized multiple relaxation time LBM(MRT-LBM)for planar geometries,previous slip BCs have never been verified extensively with the regularization *** this work,following an extensive literature review on the imposition of slip BCs for rarefiedflows with the LBM,it is proven that earlier values for kinetic parameters developed to impose slip BCs are inaccurate for the regularized MRT-LBM and differ between the d2Q9 and d3Q15 *** error was eliminated for planarflows and good agreement be-tween analytical solutions for arrays of cylinders and spheres was found with a wide range of Knudsen numbers.
