In this paper,we ameliorate the model proposed in[13],by incorporating the influence of hepatitis B e antigen(HBeAg)status of mothers on vertical *** use the improved model to fit reported HBV new infections in the Zhejiang Province of *** to predict the course of the Hepatitis B(HBV)infection in this Chinese area,and in Tokombere,located in sub-Saharan Africa(SSA).Furthermore,we apply optimal control techniques in view to re-examine the effects of the newborn vaccination,the universal vaccination and the treatment of chronic carriers in preventing the HBV *** results show that treatment slightly steps in the optimal strategy,while immunisation is an effective *** the other hand,they indicate that the control measures and immunization programs implemented in Zhejiang Province are ***,they suggest that in SSA,a package of several policies centred on birth dose vaccination should be implemented.

We demonstrate the hydrothermal synthesis of long copper nanowires based on a simple protocol. We show that the purification of the nanowires is very important and can be achieved easily by wet treatment with glacial acetic acid. Fabrication of random networks of purified copper nanowires leads to flexible transparent electrodes with excellent optoelectronic performances （e.g., 55 Ω/sq. at 94% transparency）. The process is carried out at room temperature and no post-treatment is necessary. Hybrid materials with the conductive polymer PEDOT：PSS show similar properties （e.g., 46 Ω/sq, at 93% transparency）, with improved mechanical properties. Both electrodes were integrated in capacitive touch sensors.

Wax-coated sands are a new category of synthetic soils, which are gradually becoming a reliable construction material. Because of their valuable drainage ability and mechanical properties, wax coated sandy soils are specifically applicable to pavement construction of horseracing tracks and sport fields. Although the mechanical and hydraulic properties of these synthetic soils are well-proven, there is still a lack of studies on how the soil samples behave differently when mixing with different wax fractions. Adding the wax affects permeability and compressibility of pure sand. Intensity of influences is a function of weight percentage of wax that has been added, and other physical and environmental factors. The effects of wax content on hydraulic properties(permeability), and mechanical properties(stress strain behavior, compressibility) of sandy soils based on a series of experimental efforts were investigated. Obtained experimental results infer that increasing the amount of wax up to 6% causes an about 50% increase in permeability, mainly because of the significant effect of wax in lowering the friction along with covering and filling the angular parts of particles' surfaces and forming rounded particles. In addition, wax-coated sands show a 20% to 60% decrease in confined compression modulus compared to non wax-coated sands.

Cryogenic propellants LOx/H2 are used at very high pressure in rocket engine combustion. The description of the combustion process in such application is very complex due essentially to the supercritical regime. Ideal gas law becomes invalid. In order to try to capture the average characteristics of this combustion process, numerical computations are performed using a model based on a one-phase multi-component approach. Such work requires fluid properties and a correct definition of the mixture behavior generally described by cubic equations of state with appropriated thermodynamic relations validated against the NIST data. In this study we consider an alternative way to get the effect of real gas by testing the volume-weighted-mixing-law with association of the component transport properties using directly the NIST library data fitting including the supercritical regime range. The numerical simulations are carried out using 3D RANS approach associated with two tested turbulence models, the standard k-Epsilon model and the realizable k-Epsilon one. The combustion model is also associated with two chemical reaction mechanisms. The first one is a one-step generic chemical reaction and the second one is a two-step chemical reaction. The obtained results like temperature profiles, recirculation zones, visible flame lengths and distributions of OH species are discussed.

The present short review aims to give an overview of the most recent developments in fluorescence microscopy and its applications in biomedical sciences. Apart from improvements in well established methods based on conventional fluorescence microscopy and confocal microscopy (fluorescence in situ hybridisation (FISH), tyramide signal amplification (TSA) in immunocytochemistry, new fluorophores), more recently introduced techniques like fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET), fluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP), multiphoton microscopy and fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS) will be discussed.

Predictors of long-term clinical outcome of patients with acute massive pulmonary embolism after thrombolytic therapy

To assess the in-hospital clinical course and the long-term evolution of acute massive pulmonary embolism after thrombolytic therapy and to identify predictors of adverse clinical outcome Methods A total of 260 patients hospitalized from January 1989 to October 1998 were retrospectively reviewed and followed up for 3 9 to 8 4 years Baseline characteristics and variables pre- and post-thrombolysis were identified Particular attention was paid to the clinical events, including death, recurrent thromboembolism, chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension, and major bleeding attributable to the use of anticoagulants Kaplan-Meier event-free survival curves were generated Univariate analysis by means of the log-rank test was used to test each candidate variable for association with clinical outcome Multivariate analysis with the Cox proportional hazard model was used to determine independent predictors of the long-term outcome Results The in-hospital mortality rate was 8 5%, with 68 2% due to pulmonary embolism itself, and the follow-up mortality rate was 31 7%, with 29 2% due to recurrent embolism Factors associated with an adverse outcome in univariate analysis were: (1) prior thromboembolic diseases; (2) duration of anticoagulant therapy 50 mmHg after thrombolysis; and (6) greater than 30% obstruction of pulmonary vasculature identified by pulmonary ventilation/perfusion scintigraphy before hospital discharge Multivariate analysis identified three independent predictors of poor long-term outcome for patients with acute massive pulmonary embolism after thrombolysis; which were: (1) Doppler recording of pulmonary artery systolic pressure >50 mm Hg, with relative risk of 3 78 and a 95% confidence interval of 2 70 to 4 86; (2)
