Although VEGF-B was discovered as a VEGF-A homolog a long time ago,the angiogenic effect of VEGF-B remains poorly understood with limited and diverse findings from different ***,drugs that inhibit VEGF-B together with other VEGF family members are being used to treat patients with various neovascular *** is therefore critical to have a better understanding of the angiogenic effect of VEGF-B and the underlying *** comprehensive in vitro and in vivo methods and models,we reveal here for the first time an unexpected and surprising function of VEGF-B as an endogenous inhibitor of angiogenesis by inhibiting the FGF2/FGFR1 pathway when the latter is abundantly ***,we unveil that VEGF-B binds to FGFR1,induces FGFR1/VEGFR1 complex formation,and suppresses FGF2-induced Erk activation,and inhibits FGF2-driven angiogenesis and tumor *** work uncovers a previously unrecognized novel function of VEGF-B in tethering the FGF2/FGFR1 *** the anti-angiogenic nature of VEGF-B under conditions of high FGF2/FGFR1 levels,caution is warranted when modulating VEGF-B activity to treat neovascular diseases.

背景：以前的血管内超声（intravascular ultrasound，IVUS）试验证实，他汀治疗可减缓或阻止动脉粥样硬化的进展，但是迄今尚无应用动脉粥样斑块体积百分比（percent atheroma volume，PAV）证实粥样硬化消退的确切证据。PAV是最严格的评价病变进展和消退的IVUS测量指标。目标：评价极高强度他汀治疗是否能逆转IVUS确定的冠状动脉粥样硬化。设计和地点：于美国、加拿大、欧洲和澳大利亚53个社区和3级保健中心进行前瞻性开标盲法终点试验（A Study to Evaluate the Effect of Rosuvastatin on Intravascular Ultrasound-Derived Coronary Atheroma Burden，ASTEROID）。应用马达驱动回撤IVUS评价基线和治疗24个月时冠状动脉粥样斑块负荷。每对基线和随访IVUS测量结果均进行盲法分析。病例：从2002年11月到2003年10月，507例患者有基线IVUS检查结果，并接受至少1个剂量的研究药物。在24个月后，349例患者具有可用于评估的系列IVUS检查结果。干预：所有患者均接受瑞舒伐他汀40ms／d强化治疗。主要观测指标：预先设定了两个一级疗效指标：PAV变化和基线最严重病变10min节段动脉粥样斑块体积变化。二级疗效指标为整个动脉标准化总斑块体积的变化。结果：平均（SD）LDL—C水平由基线时的130．4（34．3）ms／dL降至60．8（20．0）ms／扎，平均下降了53．2％（P〈0．001）。平均（SD）HDL-C水平从基线时的43．1（11．1）ms／dL升至49．0（12．6）ms／dL，平均增加了14．7％（P〈0．001）。整个血管PAV平均（SD）变化为-0．98％（3．15％），中位数为-0．79％（97．5％CI，-1．21％～-0．53％）（与基线比较，P〈0．001）。最严重病变10min节段斑块体积平均（SD）变化为-6．1（10．1）mm^3，中位数为-5．6mm^3（97．5％CI，-6．8～-4．0mm^3）（与基线比较，P〈0．001）。总斑块体积变化中位数降低了6．8％，平均减少了-14．7（25．7）mm^3，中位数为-12．5mm^3（95％CI，-15．1～-10．5mm^3）（与基线比较，P〈0．001）。不良事件少见，与其他他汀试验相似。结论：应用瑞舒伐他汀40ms／d进行极高强度他汀治疗可使LDL-C平均水平达到60．8ms／dL，使HDL—C增加14．7％。这导致所有3个预先设定的IVUS斑块负荷指标均显示动脉粥样硬化消退。因此，将LDL-C降至低于目前指南规定的水平，同时显著提高HDL-C，可以使冠心病患者动脉粥样硬化斑块消退。这些变化对临床预后的影响尚需进一步研究确定。

At the end of October 2018,a storm of unprecedented strength severely damaged the forests of the eastern sector of the Italian *** affected forest area covers 42,500 *** president of one of the damaged regions asked for help from the University of *** eight months of discussion,the authors of this article wrote a consensus *** sometimes asper debate brought to light some crucial aspects:1)even experienced specialists may have various opinions based on scientific knowledge that lead to conflicting proposals for *** some of them there is evidence that to restore a destroyed natural environment it is more judicious to do nothing;2)the soil corresponds to a living structure and every ecosystem’s management should be based on it;3)faced with a catastrophe,people and politicians find themselves unarmed,also because they rarely have the scientific background to understand natural *** politicians are the only persons who make the key decisions that drive the economy in play and therefore determine the near future of our *** article is an attempt to respond directly to the governor of a region who formally and prudently asked a university department called"Land,Environment,Agriculture and Forestry"for help before taking decisions;4)the authors also propose an artistic interpretation of facts(uncontrolled storm)and conclusions(listen to the soil).Briefly,the authors identify the soil as an indispensable source for the renewal of the destroyed forest,give indications on how to prepare a map of the soils of the damaged region,and suggest to anchor on this soil map a series of silvicultural and soil management actions that will promote the soil conservation and the faster recovery of the natural dynamic stability and resilience.

Ada是以Ada Lovelace(十九世纪计算机先驱,***的同事,Lord Byron的女儿)命名的一种新的程序设计语言,是由jean Ichbian领导的以巴黎为基地的设计组设计的,设计组成员有Bernd Krieg-Bruechnet、Brian ***、Henry ***、jean-Claude Heliard、jean-Raymond Abrial、John ***和Olivier Roubine等人。国外对Ada语言有不同的评价。有的说它代表了软件工程技术的最新水平,理由是它克服了PASCAL的许多局限性;而且说它有两大贡献,一是实现了程序设计抽象化,使用的全是抽象的数据类型。二是通过使用多任务和保护命令而实现了实时并行处理。当然也有不同的看法,如认为它是穿新鞋走老路,太独出心裁了以及需要很大的编译程序和优越的运行环境。今后发展前景如何,还得拭目以待。本文是1979年12月由Prentice-Hall出版的《Programming with ADA:Anintroduction by means of graduated examples》一书的第一章,目的是为那些具有Fortran这样的高级语言程序设计经验的程序员提供Ada的概述。全文分三部分:1—6节阐明Ada语言的“经典”特征,这些与PASCAL那样的语言已有的特征有密切关系。7—12节描述“新的”语言特征,这些有助于模块化和并行程序设计。13—18节描述程序结构和编译问题,这些对于理解怎样组装大程序是必需的。

The Giant Radio Array for Neutrino Detection(GRAND)is a planned large-scale observatory of ultra-high-energy(UHE)cosmic particles,with energies exceeding 10~8 Ge *** goal is to solve the long-standing mystery of the origin of UHE cosmic *** do this,GRAND will detect an unprecedented number of UHE cosmic rays and search for the undiscovered UHE neutrinos and gamma rays associated to them with unmatched *** will use large arrays of antennas to detect the radio emission coming from extensive air showers initiated by UHE particles in the *** design is modular:20 separate,independent sub-arrays,each of 10000 radio antennas deployed over 10000 km^2.A staged construction plan will validate key detection techniques while achieving important science goals *** we present the science goals,detection strategy,preliminary design,performance goals,and construction plans for GRAND.

背景：颈动脉内膜中层厚度（carotid artery intima—media thickness，CIMT）是冠状动脉粥样硬化的一种标志物，可以独立地预测心血管事件的发生。2型糖尿病患者心血管事件有所增加。尽管相对短期的研究显示，噻唑烷二酮类药物（例如匹格列酮）可以减缓CIMT的进展，但是长期研究结果目前尚不明确。目的：与格列美脲比较，评估匹格列酮对2型糖尿病患者颈总动脉CIMT变化的影响。设计、地点及参试者：2003年10月至2006年5月于芝加哥城区28家临床单位收治的2型糖尿病患者中进行随机、双盲、对照、多中心试验。治疗期为72周（随访1周）。在每个中心由一位超声检查操作者采集CIMT影像，由一位不了解治疗分组情况的判读者应用自动边缘检测技术进行判读。462例2型糖尿病成人患者（平均年龄，60[SD，8．1]岁；平均体重指数，32[SD，5．1]；平均病程7．7[SD，7．2]年；平均糖化血红蛋白值[HbA1c]，7．4％[SD，1．0％]）或者为新近确诊，或者为目前已接受饮食／锻炼、磺酰脲类、二甲双胍、胰岛素或联合治疗的患者。干预：盐酸匹格列酮（15—45 mg／d）和作为有效比较的格列美脲（1—4mg／d）。主要观测指标：与基线比较，最后随访时左右两侧颈总动脉后壁平均CIMT的绝对变化。结果：与格列美脲比较，各时点（24、48、72周）匹格列酮组CIMT的平均变化较小。72周时，匹格列酮组与格列美脲组比较，平均CIMT进展一级终点较小（分别为-0.001mm和＋0．012mm；差别为-0．013mm；95％可信区间，-0．024至-0．002；P=0．02）。与格列美脲比较，匹格列酮还可减缓最大CIMT进展（72周时分别为0．002mm和0．026mm；差别为-0．024mm；95％可信区间，-0．042至-0．006；P=0．008）。在根据年龄、性别、收缩压、DM病程、体重指数、Hb1C。值以及他汀类药物使用预先确定的各亚组间，匹格列酮对平均CIMT的有益效应相似。结论：与格列美脲比较，在为期18个月的治疗期间，匹格列酮减缓了2型糖尿病患者CIMT的进展。
