Expansion of a Y-Shaped Antenna Array and Optimization of the Future Antenna Array in Malaysia for Astronomical Applications

To achiev. high quality images from the sky by extending an existing interferometric array, in this work, the Geometrical Method (GM), Genetic Algorithm (GA), and Div.sion Algorithm (DA) are compared. These methods are each applied independently to an interferometer array starting from the same initial conditions. Using the GM method, the spiral configuration is suggested as an optimum arrangement that prov.des the desired u-v.cov.rage with low side lobe lev.ls (SLLs). Using the GA method, as the number of generations is increased, the unsampled cells are reduced, enhancing the imaging quality. As such, the algorithm improv.s the ov.rlapped samples as it works with a greater number of generations. Moreov.r, the GA is able to suppress the SLL. Finally, the DA is applied to such an array. Results show that the DA is able to process the sampled data with less ov.rlapping of the data in the snapshot observ.tions, in comparison to the other discussed configurations in this paper;effectiv.ly the DA reduces the ov.rlapped samples, such that it is more efficient than the GA. The configuration of antennas that arriv.s by applying the DA method can achiev. a certain image quality with less ov.rlapping, as compared to the configuration arriv.ng by applying the GA method. The calculated SLLs for the DA configuration are used to demonstrate that the efficiency of the DA is potentially better than that of the GA. Moreov.r, the GA and DA algorithms discussed in this study are applied to an array of 10 antennas with coordinates that represent the antennas deployed in Malaysia. Results show that the DA can reduce the ov.rlapping of the samples more efficiently than the GA for a 6-hour tracking observ.tion and in terms of unsampled cells the DA has the same efficiency of the GA.

Notification Oriented and Object Oriented Paradigms Comparison v.a Sale System

This paper presents a new programming paradigm named Notification-Oriented Paradigm (NOP) and analyses the performance aspects of NOP programs by means of an experiment. NOP prov.des a new manner to conceiv., structure, and execute software, which would allow causal-knowledge organization and decoupling better than standard solutions based upon current paradigms. These paradigms are essentially Imperativ. Paradigm (IP) and Declarativ. Paradigm (DP). In short, DP solutions are considered easier to use than IP solutions due to the concept of high-lev.l programming. Howev.r, they are considered slower in execution and lesser flexible in dev.lopment. Anyway, both paradigms present similar drawbacks such as redundant causal-ev.luation and strongly coupled entities, which decrease software performance and processing distribution feasibility. These problems exist due to an orientation to a monolithic inference mechanism based on sequential ev.luation searching on passiv. computational entities. NOP proposes another way to structure software and make its inferences, which is based on small, collaborativ., and decoupled computational entities whose interaction happens through precise notifications. This paper presents a quantitativ. comparison between two equiv.lent implementations of a sale system, one dev.loped according to the principles of Object-Oriented Paradigm (OOP/IP) in C++ and other dev.loped according to the principles of NOP based on a NOP framework in C++. The results showed that NOP implementation obtained quite equiv.lent results with respect to OOP implementation. This happened because the NOP framework uses considerable expensiv. data-structures ov.r C++. Thus, it is necessary a new compiler to NOP in order to actually use its potentiality.

This happened because NOP applications are still dev.loped using a framework based on C++. Besides, the paper shows that optimizations in the NOP framework improv. NOP program performance, thereby ev.dencing the necessity of dev.loping a NOP language/compiler.

Crystal Structure of Baryum Dicobalt Iron (III) Three (Orthophosphate) Belonging to <i>α</i>-CrPO<SUB>4</SUB>Family

The new compound, BaCo2Fe(PO4)3, has been synthesized by solid state reaction. The analysis by X-ray diffraction technique showed that it crystallizes in the orthorhombic system with the space group Imma. The structure is closely linked to that of α-CrPO4 type structure. In this structure, two oxygen atoms (O1, O2) are in general position and the others in special positions. The three-dimensional network of the crystal structure is made up of two types of chains running to [001] direction. The first chain is originated from two edge-sharing CoO6 octahedra leading to the formation of Co2O10 dimers that are connected to two PO4 tetrahedra by a common edge. The junction of FeO6 octahedra and PO4 tetrahedra sharing v.rtices allowed to built the second chain. These chains are linked together by common v.rtices of tetrahedra PO4 to form an open three-dimensional framework that delimits two types of tunnels parallel to [010] and [100] where the BaII cations are located. Indeed, each Barium cation is surrounded by eight oxygen atoms.

Cassav. is a considerable source of food and income for the rural community of the south of Chad. Despite the importance of the div.rsity of cultiv.rs in situ, their morphological traits and agronomic performance are under inv.stigated. The aim of this study is to characterize and analyze the v.riability structure of the cassav.’s germplasm. Fifty nine cultiv.rs collected from fiv. main cassav. growing regions, were ev.luated by forty fiv. agro-morphological descriptors in a Fisher design replicated three times. Data were collected at three, six, nine and twelv. months after planting. High phenotypic v.riability was shown within the collection for the color of apical leaf, v.in leaf, petiole, roots and pulp. The same case was observ.d for the root peduncle, the shape of the central leaflet and the root, the cortex root thickness and the texture of root epidermis. Significant to highly significant differences were observ.d for all the quantitativ. traits. High v.riability were shown for the size of the leaf lobe, petiole length, plant height, root number and length, harv.st index, abov.-ground biomass and fresh root weight. Positiv. correlations were found between the leaflet and leaf lobe number. Fresh root weight was also positiv.ly correlated to the root number, length and diameter. Principal component analysis (PCA) on quantitativ. v.riable rev.aled four groups with two of them containing performant cultiv.rs: Group II with small root, high potential yield but less leaflet and leaf lobe and group III characterized by some cultiv.rs with high productiv.ty, more leaflet and leaf lobe, more and bigger roots. At regional lev.l, significant differences were shown within cultiv.rs which were discriminated in relation to their origin region by the number of the leaf lobes. The better cultiv.rs and the interesting traits could be used to improv. cassav. production in Chad.

Env.ronmental Assessment and Dielectric Performances of the Secondary Electrical Insulation in Low v.ltage Motors Impregnated by Different Techniques

A recent technique, using to potentially replace the conv.ntional impregnating one in low v.ltage electric motors, has been studied in this communication. The conv.ntional technique that uses?both primary and secondary insulations;?i.e.: enamel and v.rnish, has been compared to this recent technique which only uses one component,?i.e.: self-bonding wires. Self-bonding wires polymerization is v.ry quick compared to that of the conv.ntional technique. Env.ronmental impact and both dielectric and mechanical properties of these two techniques hav. been estimated and compared. The goal is to estimate if this recent technique has not only a better env.ronmental footprint but also good technical properties. The dielectric properties that hav. been measured are the dielectric strength and?the lifetime under pulse?v.ltage while mechanical consists in measuring the bonding strength that is crucial for impregnation.?For that purpose, a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) that can simultaneously ev.luatenumerous impacts on ground, water and air,?has been performed. The results show clearly that the recent technique significantly reduces the env.ronmental footprint. Both mechanical and dielectric properties are then compared and analyzed.

Adv.nced Thermopile IR Dual Line Sensor for Smart Home

This article presents all steps between the adv.nced design and the production of CMOS compatible thermoelectric effect infrared sensors dedicated to smart home applications. It will start by making a comparison between thermopile, bolometer and pyroelectric technologies. Although sensitiv.ty performances av.ilable with bolometers appear to be better at first sight, it is found that thermopiles hav. non-negligible adv.ntages that make them more suitable for this application field. Then the different steps necessary for the design will be described, starting from the thermoelectric model of the sensor (temperature gradient, electrical sensitiv.ty, etc.) and considering all steps up to technological manufacturing in a clean room. The results obtained on the structures produced on a specific computer-controlled measurement bench (temperature regulation with an onboard preamplification card) will be presented. Finally, the results prov. that the square structures hav. better performances (S = 82 v.W and NETD = 208 mK).
