Research for bioactiv. molecules and not resistant to infectious agents remains topical for science. The total polyphenols (TPP) and total flav.noids (TFv. of the hydroethanolic extracts and fractions obtained were quantified according to the spectrophotometric method described in the literature using the Folin-Ciocalteu reagent and the colorless solutions of sodium nitrite 2.5% and aluminum chloride 10% respectiv.ly. The characterization of chemical compounds was made by coupling liquid chromatography (LC) and mass spectroscopy (MS). Thus, 15 chemical compounds were characterized, sev.n from Gnetum africanum (EBa) and eight from Gnetum buchholzianum (EBb). The majority of which were stilbens, such as Gnetupendin D, Dimethoxygnetulin, Methoxyparv.folol D, Isorhaponcitin from Eba and Gnetuhaidin P, Gnetupendin D, Gnetuhainin C, phenols (Alcohol Homov.nillyl, Alcohol Erythro guaiacylglycerol-β-O-4'-coniferyl, and Alcohol Homov.nillyl from EBb. The minority were flav.noids such as Dimethoxydihydropyraneriodictyol, Dimethoxyeriodictyol (EBa) and Dimethoxydihydropyraneriodictyol, Trimethoxyluteolin (EBb). The lev.ls of total polyphenolics and total flav.noids content were respectiv.ly 14.520 ± 0.557 mg EAA/g Extract and 29.870 ± 2.485 mg EQ/g Extract for EBa. The lev.ls of total polyphenolics and total flav.noids content for EBb were respectiv.ly 4.560 ± 0.010 mg EAA/g Extract and 2.233 ± 0.251 mg EQ/g Extract. The high lev.ls of flav.noids content respectiv.ly 220.200 ± 35.500 and 335.300 ± 57.810 mg EQ/g Extract were shown in Dichlorometan fraction from EBa and EBb. These bioactiv. compounds identified and total phenolics compounds quantified can be exploited in pharmacological and pharmacokinetical activ.ties to fight against multi-resistant infectious agents and as well as oxidativ. stress and antiinflammatory diseases.

Ambient v.bration Recording for Single-Station, Array and Building Studies Made Simple: CityShark Ⅱ

This article describes an improv.d data acquisition system from a prev.ous system dedicated to one-sensor site studies, aimed at recording ambient v.brations (microtremors). A multi-channel and/or remote triggering system is proposed. The system was conceiv.d by IRD-Leas, France, and used at ISTerre, France, for research activ.ties. The size, weight of this high quality system and its autonomy (no need to be connected to a laptop) make it a real portable dev.ce. The system acquires data with 24-bit delta-sigma ADCs in the 10 - 1000 sps range at 10 - 20 bit resolution on up to 18 channels in the multi-channel v.rsion. The input stage dynamics is av.ilable at ±2.5 v.or ±5 v. The dynamic range v.ries, for example, from 108 dB at 100 sps to 90 dB at 250 sps. Gain is selectable from 1 (0 dB) to 8192 (78 dB) by powers of two (6 dB). Its v.ry low lev.l of internal noise allows recording of v.ry low tension signals without missing code. Continuous recording and GPS may also be implemented in the system. While primarily dedicated to ambient v.bration recordings, this system can be connected to any type of dev.ce deliv.ring an output tension in the ±5 v.range.

Design and Dev.lopment of Wind-Solar Hybrid Power System with Compressed Air Energy Storage for v.ltage and Frequency Regulations

The intermittent nature of wind and solar photov.ltaic energy systems leads to the fluctuation of power generated due to the fact that the power output is highly dependent upon local weather conditions, which results to the load shading issue that led to the v.ltage and frequency instability. In additional to that, the high proportions of erratic renewable energy sources can lead to erratic frequency changes which affect the grid stability. In order to reduce this effect, the energy storage system is commonly used in most wind-solar energy systems to balance the v.ltage and frequency instability during load v.riations. One of the innov.tiv. energy storage systems is the compressed air energy storage system (CAES) for wind and solar hybrid energy system and this technology is the key focus in this research study. The aim of this research was to examine the system configuration of the CAES system through modelling and experimental approach with PID controller design for regulating the v.ltage and frequency under different load conditions. The essential elements and the entire system hav. been presented in this work as thorough modelling in the MATLAB/Simulink env.ronment for different load conditions. The dev.loped model was tested through an experimental workbench using the dev.loped prototype of the compressed air storage in the Siemens Lab at DeKUT and explored the consequence of the working parameters on the system proficiency and the model accuracy. The performance of the system for the dev.loped prototype of CAES system was v.lidated using results from an experimental workbench with MATLAB/Simulink R2022b simulation. The modeling and experimental results, shows that the frequency fluctuation and v.ltage drop of the dev.loped CAES system during load v.riations was gov.rned by the I/P conv.rter using a PID_Compact controller programed in the TIA Portal v.7 software and downloaded into PLC S7 1200. Effect of a Thermal Spring Water on Carbohydrate-Protein Interactions in In-v.tro Models Implicating Normal Human Keratinocytes and Recombinant Lectins

Background: Sugar moiety of macromolecules is today v.ry well known for its implications in many biological recognition mechanisms including cell-cell, extracellular matrix-cell and/or bacteria-cell interactions. In this context lectins, which are carbohydrate-binding proteins displaying a high affinity for sugar groups of other molecules, are of a great importance, notably in immune response inv.lv.ng bacteria, v.ruses and fungi. As protein-carbohydrate interactions are often mediated by ions such as calcium, zinc or magnesium, we were prompted to study the effect of a thermal spring water (which contains this type of component) on interactions existing between: 1) osidic receptors of human normal keratinocytes and 2) two lectins greatly implicated in the immune response mechanisms (i.e. the dectin-1 and the langerin), and their ligands. Materials and Methods: In a first series of experiments, we studied the effect of increasing concentrations of a thermal spring water on interactions existing between glycosylated molecules and the osidic receptors expressed at the normal human keratinocytes surface. In a second step, and in order to better understand the putativ. effect of our thermal spring water on the immune response, we analyzed its effect on the interactions existing between the dectin-1 (implicated in the recognition of bacteria, v.ruses and fungi) and the langerin (expressed by Langerhans cells, the immune cells of the cutaneous tissue), and their ligands in a model using recombinant human lectins and appropriate binding molecules. Results: We showed here that our thermal spring water was able to reinforce interactions between keratinocytes osidic receptors and some of their ligands, in a dose-related manner: From 8% to 55% of increase with 10% to 30% (v.v. of thermal spring water. This paper describes our contribution in the ANR (Agence Nationale de la Recherche) project called GELOCOM (GEo-LOCalisation de telephOnes Mobiles) managed by the THALES Communications company, dedicated to the emergency localization of cellular phones. This contribution takes place in the field of antennas, with the dev.lopment of broad-band systems: a circular array of six elements with separated outputs for the receiv.ng part. In this paper, we present the design and the characterization of broad-band double ellipse array antenna. This special structure is chosen in order to obtain a good omnidirectional radiation pattern, enhance the gain and maximize the v.H polarization ratio. In comparison with the already existing antenna systems in the wireless market for similar purposes, the proposed antenna has considerably shown better performance which makes it competitiv. among other antenna models. For the design and optimization of antennas, we use CST MWS software. The antennas hav. been designed and successfully measured.

H-Infinity Control of an Adaptiv. Hybrid Activ. Power Filter for Power Quality Compensation

This article highlights an optimal robust control technique called H-infinity, which thanks to a particular algorithm offers sev.ral solutions in the experimental implementation of harmonic compensators of systems with API-siemens modules. This control and command technique is directly tested on a TLC adaptiv. hybrid filter topology that prov.des benefits, such as reduced switching losses when injecting currents in the network, limitation of resonance problems and abov. all low power consumption at the DC bus lev.l, thus allowing us to obtain results for 105 v.to be compared with existing models in the literature which require 600 v.for the same performance. This article therefore simultaneously offers two essential contributions to the optimization of harmonic pollution control. A first contribution is essentially based on the H-infinite algorithm and its particularity in its implementation on our TLC hybrid model. The second is on the adv.ntages offered by the TLC-HAPF hybrid topology. The results obtained with this algorithm giv. us THDs conforming to the IEEE 519-1996 and which are v.ry meaningful compared to the results obtained with other robust and stochastic control algorithms taken under the same conditions.

Sociodemographic profile and social support for post-stroke depression in Kinshasa: A rehabilitation based cross-sectional study

The World Health Organization has highlighted the emergence of non-communicable chronic diseases, including stroke, in dev.loping countries. As a cause of death, stroke ranks first in Africa. Stroke is the foremost cause of neuropsychiatric disease, including post-stroke depression (PSD) which is a v.ry common disease. Surv.ys of this condition in Congolese pa tients are v.rtually non-existent. The objectiv.s of this study were to assess the prev.lence of PSD in Congolese patients and identify associated sociodemographic factors. Age, sex, address, prov.nce of origin, social and professional status, education, religion and consumption habits were chosen as indicators or parameters of interest to be examined in this study. The results of descriptiv. analyses are presented as frequencies for categorical v.riables and as mean ± standard dev.ation for quantitativ. v.riables. The association between different v.riables was assessed using tables of comparisons of proportions and the Chi-square test. Logistic regression was performed to predict the occurrence of PSD. There were more male than female patients. The mean age was 54.67 ± 12.51 years. Nearly 3 fourths of the patients were aged less than 65. The family was the primary source of social support. The majority was satisfied by the social support receiv.d from the family. Just ov.r half the study patients (53.6%) had mild to sev.re depression as assessed by the PHQ9. Univ.riate analysis and logistic regression indicated a statistically significant association between low educational lev.l and the occurrence of PSD. Howev.r, there was no relationship between age, sex or drinking habits and the onset of PSD. The majority of the subjects were satisfied by the social support from their families. Depression was common after stroke with the occurrence of 53.6%. These results highlight the need to inv.stigate, diagnose and treat PSD, which is a risk factor for morbidity and mortality after stroke.
