Limestones of different facies in the Senegal basin are most commonly used as aggregates, regardless of their petrographic properties. These differences may influence their behaviour. The aim of this paper is to study the stratigraphy and characterise the limestones of the Bandia and Popenguine quarries. Sampling and geochemical and geotechnical characterisation were carried out on these limestones. The results show the presence of several very different facies in the Paleocene formation. The geochemical study shows that the Bandia limestones (Bd2) have the highest CaCO3 percentages (98.54%) and the highest SiO2 percentages were recorded in the Popenguine limestones (Pop2). The study also gives MDE values of 22.38 and LA of 22, which are acceptable for use in road construction. It is important to carry out a complete study in order to select the right materials for optimal use.

AIM：To screen microRNAs（miRNAs） and set up target miRNAs in ***：Primary fibroblasts were isolated from pterygium and Tenon＇s capsule and *** analysis and Western blotting were performed to confirm the culture of *** all,1733 miRNAs were screened in the first step by using GeneChip miRNA3.0 *** miRNAs involved in the pathogenesis of pterygium were subsequently determined using the following criteria：1） high reproducibility in a repetitive test;2） base log value of 〉7.0 for both control and pterygial fibroblasts;and 3） log ratio of 〉1.0 between pterygial fibroblasts and control ***：Primary screening showed that 887/1733 miRNAs were up-regulated and 846/1733 miRNAs were down-regulated in pterygial fibroblasts compared with those in control *** the 1733 miRNAs screened,4 miRNAs,namely,miRNA-143a-3p,miRNA-181a-2-3p,miRNA-377-5p and miRNA-411a-5p,met the above-mentioned *** screening showed that these 4 miRNAs were up-regulated in pterygial fibroblasts compared with control fibroblasts and that miRNA-143a-3p had the highest mean ratio compared with the miRNAs in control ***：miRNA-143a-3p,miRNA-181a-2-3p,miRNA-377-5p and miRNA-411a-5p are up-regulated in pterygial fibroblasts compared with control fibroblasts,suggesting their involvement in the pathogenesis of pterygium.

Background: Ovarian tuberculosis is a rare form of tuberculosis. Its clinical presentation mimics an ovarian tumor, leading to misdiagnosis. Proper treatment with anti-tuberculosis drugs can lead to a cure for the disease but can sometimes cause adverse effects that compromise therapeutic management. Observation: We report a 71-year-old female Senegalese patient who presented with a chronic abdominopelvic mass with an elevated Cancer Antigen 125 (CA125) level, raising the suspicion of an ovarian tumor. She underwent an exploratory laparotomy and the anatomopathological study confirmed the diagnosis of ovarian and peritoneal tuberculosis. After starting treatment with anti-tuberculosis drugs, she developed toxidermia in the form of generalized urticaria. Discontinuation of the four-drug therapy and separate reintroduction of anti-tuberculosis drugs led to the incrimination of rifampicin. Progress was then favorable on Isoniazid (h) pyrazinamide (Z) and Ethambutol (E). Conclusion: Ovarian tuberculosis should be suspected in the presence of an abdominopelvic mass in a woman living in an endemic area. The occurrence of adverse reactions to anti-tuberculosis treatment is not uncommon, hence the importance of regular monitoring.

This article explains the results of a study conducted on the characterizations of subgrade soils in the region of Thies. The road platforms are mainly composed of a background soil, which is generally overlapped by a surface layer that plays two roles. Firstly, it protects the soil structure, ensures the leveling, and facilitates the movement of vehicles. Secondly, it brings harmony in the mechanistic characteristics of the materials that compose the soil while improving the long-term life force. The methodology consisted in taking samples of subgrade soil along the roads all over the region of Thies in a 5 km diameter span. The identification tests allowed the Thies-Tivaoune, Thies-Khombole and Thies-Noto axes are characterized by tight sands, poorly graded size. While Thies Pout-axis is characteristic of severe solid particle size and spread well graded and serious to spread and well graded particle size. Finally the Thies-Montrolland axis is characterized by severe to very tight particle size and graduated to spread and serious and well graded particle size. The specific gravity values found Proctor test shows the presence of sand, sandy laterite and laterite. In the target area, polished soils of the A-3 type according to the AAShTO classification system are the most represented with 60%, followed by the A-2-6 type 25%, and the A-2-4 type with 9%, which are typical of gravel, clay, and silty sands. Soils of the A-1-b type (2%) typical of roc fragments, sands and clay are also represented. Polished sands of the A-3 type have a better efficiency on road infrastructures than other types of soil listed above. Finally, we’ve also noted the presence of soils of the A-2-7 and A-4 types with the low percentage of 2%. Subgrade soils of class S4 are the most represented with 58%, followed by those of class S5 with 42%. Samples of the Thies-Montrolland road have a claylike plasticity (CL or Ch group), while those of the Thies-Pout road belong to the ML or OL and CL or OL

Introduction: The objective of this work was to describe the epidemiological, etiological, clinical and therapeutic aspects of atrial fibrillation (AF) in Thies, Senegal. Materials and Methods: This was a retrospective, multicentre, descriptive study from February 1st, to May 28th, 2019 carried out in the 3 hospitals of the city of Thies that focused on patients with AF documented by an ECG. Valvular and non-valvular AF classification was used and the ChA2DS2-VASc score was used to assess thromboembolic risk. Results: We collected 67 patients with a female predominance (M/F sex ratio of 0.71). The prevalence of AF was 1.7%. The average age of patients was 66.67 ± 13.48 years. Forty-eight patients (71.64%) had palpitations and 32 patients (47.76%) had heart failure. hypertension was the most common etiological factor found in 41 patients (61.19%) followed by rheumatic valvular disease in 25 patients (37.31%). The non-valvular AF was found in 42 patients (62.69%) of which 34 (80.95%) had a ChA2DS2-VASc score ≥ 2. Vitamin K antagonists (VKAs) were prescribed in 47 patients (79.66%) and aspirin alone in 12 patients (20.34%). Direct Oral Anticoagulants (DOACs) were not prescribed in any patient. Seven patients (10.44%) had a medical regulator treatment and no electrical cardioversion was performed. Conclusion: AF was a frequent rhythm disorder. hypertension and rheumatic mitral valve disease were the most frequently associated etiological factors. The diagnosis was often late in the heart failure stage. Anticoagulant treatment was insufficiently prescribed and based exclusively on VKAs.

Organic microporous materials based on spiroketal and spirothioketal polymers were synthesized through 1,3- dioxol-forming polymerization reaction between pentaerythritol or pentaerythritol tetrathiol and different types of cyclohexa- 1,4-dione derivatives. The structure of the prepared polymers was confirmed by NMR spectroscopy and molecular mass measurements. Nitrogen adsorption/desorption isotherms of the prepared polymers show a large amount of nitrogen adsorbed at low relative pressure indicating microporosity. These polymers have Brunauer Emmitt and Teller （BET） surface areas in the range from 492 （m^2g^-1） to 685 （m^2 g^-1）. The prepared polymers were found to be useful for pervaporation separation of methanol-toluene mixture with a separation factor up to 12.5 and fluxes, varying between 6.7×10-3 kg/（m^2 h） and 13.4 × 10^-3 kg/（m^2 h）.

Absorption chillers are cooling units usually powered by renewable energy or waste *** performance generally depends on the temperatures of the heat source,the ambient and the medium to be *** present work deals with the thermodynamic study of a 10 kW Nh3/h2O absorption machine in order to find the COP(coefficient of performance).The first and second laws of thermodynamics were used for the operating *** thermodynamic properties of the Nh3/h2O mixture were determined using the EES(Engineering Equation Solver)*** results of the simulation of the machine were validated with the results of the *** validation,the program was used to simulate a 10-kW Nh3/h2O absorption machine for milk conservation/cold storage in northern *** simulation results of the 10-kW ammonia-water absorption machine give an acceptable COP of 0.521 with a milk storage temperature of 4°C.

We present a rare case associating inferior vena cava’s (IVC) complex variations. Anatomical, embryological and clinical aspects are discussed. Duplication’s discovery was fortuitous during an abdominal ultrasound and was confirmed by the CT scan. The latter also highlighted azygos continuation, retro aortic renal vein and an iliac venous anomaly. These variants are important to know in order to be able to differentiate them from lymphadenopathy, para-vertebral masses, and aortic pathologies. It is necessary to report them before any retroperitoneal surgery or interventional vascular procedure.

Introduction: Venous thromboembolism disease (VTE) is a common complication of hospitalization. Objective: To assess the practice of thromboprophylaxis in hospitalized patients in the department of medicine. Patients and Methods: It is an observational cross-sectional study conducted from 01 February to 31 March 2019 in the medical departments of the Saint jea. de Dieu hospital of Thies. All the patients hospitalized with at least 18 years of age were included. The thromboembolic risk was assessed with the Padua score and thromboprophylaxis?assessed according to the ACCP 2012 recommendations. Results: One hundred and forty four patients were included. Seventy-one (49.3%) were in the high thromboembolic risk category. The most frequently reported risk factors were mobility impairment (n = 72;50%), age of 70 years or above (n = 35;24.3%), heart failure (n = 23;16%), acute infections (n = 14;9.7%) and cancers (n = 13;9.02%). The prevention of venous thromboembolism was practiced in 25 of the 71 patients with high thromboembolic risk or a rate of 35.2%. Thromboprophylaxis was exclusively drug-based with Enoxaparin. Conclusion: The practice of prophylaxis for VTE was low in the medical departments. Efforts still need to be made to reduce the high rate of thromboembolic complications associated with hospitalization.

Synthesis and Evaluation of 4-hydroxy Quinolinone Derivatives as Antioxidants of Lubricating Grease

3-(5-(2.4-dichlorophyenyl)-4.5-dihydro-1h-pyrazol-3-yl)-4hydroxy-1-methylquinolin(1h)-one, 5-((4-hydroxy-8-methyl-2-oxo-1.2-dihydroquinolin-3-yl)methylene)-1-phenyl-2-hioxodihydropyrimidine-4.6(1h.5h)-dione, and 1-butyl-4-hydroxy-3-(5-styryl-4.5-dihydro-1h-pyrazol-3yl)quinolin-2(1h)-one were synthesized and characterized by spectroscopy analysis. These compounds are designated I, II and III, respectively. The antioxidants efficiency of the synthesized compounds in lubricating greases had been investigated using ASTM d-942 and ASTM d-664. The obtained data showed that the total acid number and oxygen pressure drop of these compounds in lubricating greases decrease in the order: ***. he antioxidant efficiency of the prepared quinolinones derivatives was discussed. Acceptable correlations were obtained between the obtained oxidation inhibition and the calculated quantum chemical parameters.
