Amid the growing interest in triboelectric nanogenerators(TENGs)as novel energy-harvesting devices,several studies have focused on direct current(DC)TENGs to generate a stable DC output for operating electronic ***,owing to the working mechanisms of conventional DC TENGs,generating a stable DC output from reciprocating motion remains a ***,we propose a bidirectional rotating DC TENG(BiR-TENG),which can generate DC outputs,regardless of the direction of rotation,from reciprocating *** distinct design of the BiR-TENG enables the mechanical rectification of the alternating current output into a rotational-direction-dependent DC ***,it allows the conversion of the rotational-direction-dependent DC output into a unidirectional DC output by adapting the configurations depending on the rotational *** to these tailored design strategies and subsequent optimizations,the BiR-TENG could generate an effective unidirectional DC *** of the BiR-TENG for the reciprocating motions of swinging doors and waves were demonstrated by harnessing this *** study demonstrates the potential of the BiR-TENG design strategy as an effective and versatile solution for energy harvesting from reciprocating motions,highlighting the suitability of DC outputs as an energy source for electronic devices.

Correlates of resistance to gastrointestinal nematode infection in Nigerian West African dwarf sheep

Objective:To investigate correlates of resistance to G1 nematode infection in Nigerian West African dwarf(WAD) ***:Thirty three sheep were randomly assigned to two groups, A(n=27) which were used for experimental infections,and B(n=6) which served as uninfected *** infected animal received weekly escalating infections with infective larvae(60% Haemonchus contortus(***) and 40%Trichostrongylus colubriformis(***) for 4 *** responses of all the infected and control sheep were assessed by faecal egg count(FEC),worm burden(Wb),packed cell volume(PCV),body weight(Bwt).and body condition score(BCS).On the basis of their individual faecal egg output,lambs in group A with epg≤1 000 on any sampling day were classified as low faecal egg count(lFEC) phenotype(n = 16),those with epg between 1 000 and 10 000 as intermediate(n=5) and lambs with epg > 10 000 as high feacal egg count(HFEC) phenotype(n=6).Results:The difference between the FEC classes was highly significant(P=0.001).The BCS and weight gained at the end of the experiment by the control and lFEC sheep was significandy higher(P≤0.05) than those of the intermediate and HFEC *** was a significant and negative correlation between the parasitological measures and the trio of BCS,PCV and Bwt of ***:The result of the study indicated that the FEC,weight gain,PCV,and BCS are correlates and potential selection crileria of G1 nematode resistant WAD sheep.

作为一种快速、高灵敏的挥发性有机物(VOCs)检测技术,质子转移反应质谱(PTR-MS)被越来越多地应用于环境、医学、公共安全等领域。作为PTR-MS的关键部件之一,空心阴极辉光放电离子源对仪器性能具有重要影响。本文通过有限元仿真优化了空心阴极结构,在阴极内径为20 mm、阳极与阴极间隙为4 mm时,离子源放电效果较好。将优化后的空心阴极辉光放电离子源与便携式质谱仪联用,并测试了离子信号与放电气压和放电电流的关系。结果表明,最佳放电气压约为200 pa,最佳放电电流为9~13 m A。采用乙腈样品测试了仪器性能,系统响应时间在10 s以内,乙腈检出限约为10^(-9)(V/V),线性范围为50×10^(-9)~350×10^(-9)(V/V),线性相关系数R^(2)=0.991。利用该装置检测了苹果发酵过程中产生的VOCs随时间的变化,证明了该仪器可用于实际样品检测。

目的分析甲状腺乳头状癌(PTC)患者对侧中央区淋巴结(Cont-ClNs)转移的相关因素,评估颈中线淋巴结(Mid-ClNs)分区在识别Cont-ClNs转移中的临床价值。方法选取2021年1月至2023年6月广东省佛山市第一人民医院进行甲状腺全切除术和双侧中央区颈淋巴清扫术(CND)治疗PTC的125例患者,组织病理学检查评估的主要因素包括:原发肿瘤最大直径、多灶性、被膜侵犯、腺外浸润、桥本氏甲状腺炎、淋巴结转移分区。组间数据比较采用单因素方差分析。利用多因素logistic回归分析法分析Cont-ClNs转移的危险因素,计算受试者工作特征(ROC)曲线下面积,分析对侧Mid-ClNs转移对Cont-ClNs转移的预测效能。结果125例PTC患者中,107(85.60%)例患者发生Mid-ClNs转移,57.60%(72/125)的患者发生患侧Mid-ClNs转移,28.80%(36/125)的患者发生对侧Mid-ClNs转移。在单因素分析中,多灶性(P=0.004)、被膜侵犯(P=0.002)、腺外浸润(P=0.048)、对侧Mid-ClNs转移(PlNs转移(P=0.043)与Cont-ClNs转移的发生有显著相关性。而Mid-ClNs转移(P=0.422)、患侧Mid-ClNs转移(P=0.856)与Cont-ClNs转移的发生则无相关性。多因素logistic回归分析发现,Ipis-ClNs转移(P=0.013,OR=2.065)和对侧Mid-ClNs转移(P=0.008,OR=2.072)发生越多,Cont-ClNs转移发生的概率越大。且对侧Mid-ClNs转移阳性对Cont-ClNs转移预测的AUC为0.664(95%CI=0.554~0.774,P=0.006),敏感度为76.19%,特异度为56.60%。结论对侧Mid-ClNs转移是Cont-ClNs转移的独立危险因素,且对预测Cont-ClNs转移具有较为良好的诊断价值。

Coastal zones, with their significant geodiversity, are vital areas for geotourism. Effective management is crucial to harness the geological interest of these sites as geotourism resources while ensuring their conservation. ManabíProvince is one of the most representative regions along the Ecuadorian coast due to its beaches and coastal cliffs, offering a wealth of tourist attractions and cultural elements. This study aims to evaluate the geosite potential of six cliffs in ManabíProvince through quantitative and qualitative analyses to propose geotourism promotion strategies. The methodology involves (i) inventory and characterisation of the cliffs, (ii) assessment of the sites by the Spanish Inventory of Places of Geological Interest method (IElIG), and (iii) qualitative evaluation through focus group discussions and Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analysis. The results reveal that all six sites boast diverse geological assets, including geomorphological, stratigraphic, sedimentological, and tectonic elements. They are characterised by “high ”scientific, didactic, and tourist interest, while also being sus- ceptible to degradation due to natural and anthropic threats. The SWOT analysis demonstrates that the valuable geological and geomorphological heritage of potential geosites provides an opportunity to foster geotourism and boost the province’s economy, incorporating geoconservation and geoeducation strategies. This study proposes a georoute called “Ruta Acantilados del Sol ”, a 245 km journey encompassing all six sites, incorporating diverse tourist and cultural activities. Our research lays the foundation for fostering geotourism along the Manabícoast and strengthening the connection between nature, heritage, and the welfare of residents within a global resilience plan.

Identification of <i>JAK2</i>(V617F) Mutation in Myeloproliferative Neoplasms by Using Allele Specific Polymerase Chain Reaction (AS-PCR)

lign="justify"> Myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs) are a group of clonal haematopoietic stem cell disorders characterized by the proliferation of one or more myeloid cell lineages. According to WHO classification, the Janus associated kinase 2 (JAK2) V617F mutation is one of the major diagnostic criteria in BCR-ABl1 negative myeloproliferative neoplasms. The aim of this study is to detect the JAK2 (V617F) mutation in patients with myeloproliferative neoplasms to get accurate diagnosis and proper management. A total of 90 clinically diagnosed MPN patients attending to Department of Clinical Haematology, Yangon General Hospital were enrolled in this study. The mean age was 53.4 ± 14 years which ranged from 16 to 81 years old and male and female ratio was 2.4:1. The identification of JAK2 (V617F) point mutation was found to be positive in 44/90 MPN patients (48.9%). According to MPN subtypes, the JAK2 mutation positivity was found in 19 out of 46 polycythemia vera patients (41.3%), 17 out of 25 essential thrombocythemia patients (68%), 8 out of 15 primary myelofibrosis patients (53.3%), 0 of 4 others myeloproliferative neoplasms (0%). Confirmation of each of nine JAK2 mutation positive and negative samples was done by Sanger sequencing. The arterial or venous thrombotic attack was found in 32/44 JAK2 mutation positive cases (72.7%) and 12/44 JAK2 mutation negative cases (27.3%). The association between thrombotic attack and presence of JAK2 mutation was statistically significance with p = 0.000. The diagnosis of myeloproliferative neoplasms mainly relies on the molecular genetics according to WHO classification. The Allele specific PCR reaction is sensitive, simple test and relatively cost-effective. Therefore, the identification of JAK2 (V617F) somatic point mutation by AS-PCR should be implemented as

Malignancy and mortality in a population-based cohort of patients with coeliac disease or ‘gluten sensitivity’

AIM: To determine the risk of malignancy and mortality in patients with a positive endomysial or anti-gliadin an- tibody test in Northern Ireland. METHODS: A population-based retrospective cohort study design was used. laboratory test results used in the diagnosis of coeliac disease were obtained from the Regional Immunology laboratory, cancer statistics from the Northern Ireland Cancer Registry and mortal- ity statistics from the General Registrar Office, Northern Ireland. Age standardized incidence ratios of malignant neoplasms and standardized mortality ratios of all-cause and cause-specific mortality were calculated. RESUlTS: A total of 13 338 people had an endomysial antibody and/or an anti-gliadin antibody test in Northern Ireland between 1993 and 1996. There were 490 pa- tients who tested positive for endomysial antibodies and they were assumed to have coeliac disease. There were 1133 patients who tested positive for anti-gliadin anti- bodies and they were defined as gluten sensitive. Ma- lignant neoplasms were not significantly associated with coeliac disease; however, all-cause mortality was signifi- cantly increased following diagnosis. The standardized incidence and mortality ratios for non-Hodgkin’s lym- phoma were increased in coeliac disease patients but did not reach statistical significance. lung and breast cancer incidence were significantly lower and all-cause mortal-ity, mortality from malignant neoplasms, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and digestive system disorders were signifi- cantly higher in gluten sensitive patients compared to the Northern Ireland population. CONClUSION: patients with coeliac disease or gluten sensitivity had higher mortality rates than the Northern Ireland population. This association persists more than one year after diagnosis in patients testing positive for anti-gliadin antibodies. Breast cancer is significantly re- duced in the cohort of patients with gluten sensitivity.
