Over the years,zinc-ion batteries(ZIBs)have attracted attention as a promising next-generation energy storage technology because of their excellent safety,long cycling performance,eco-friendliness,and high-power ***,issues,such as the corrosion and dissolution of the Zn anode,limited wet-tability,and lack of sufficient nucleation sites for Zn plating,have limited their practical *** introduction of a protective layer comprising of tellurium(Te)nanobelts onto the surface of Zn anode has emerged as a promising approach to overcome these limitations and improve the electrochemical behav-ior by enhancing the safety and wettability of ZIBs,as well as providing numerous nucleation sites for Zn *** the presence of a Te-based protective layer,the energy power density of the surface-engineered Zn anode improved significantly(ranging from 310 to 144 W h kg^(-1),over a power density range of 270 to 1,800 W kg^(-1)),and the lifespan capability was *** results demonstrate that the proposed strategy of employing Te nanobelts as a protective layer holds great promise for enhancing the energy storage performance of zIBs,making them even more attractive as a viable energy storage solution forthefuture.

BAcKGROUND Appendiceal mucinous neoplasms(AMNs),although not classified as rare,are relatively uncommon tumors most often discovered incidentally during colorectal *** identification of AMNs is difficult due to non-specific sym-ptoms,overlapping tumor markers with other conditions,and the potential for *** underscores the urgent need for precision in diagnosis to pre-vent severe *** SUMMARY This case report describes the unexpected discovery and treatment of a low-grade AMN(LAMN)in a 74-year-old man undergoing laparoscopic hemicolectomy for transverse colon adenocarcinoma(Ac).Preoperatively,non-specific gastroin-testinal symptoms and elevated tumor markers masked the presence of *** tumor,presumed to be an AMN peritoneal cyst intraoperatively,was con-firmed as LAMN through histopathological *** neoplasm exhibited mucin accumulation and a distinct immunohistochemical profile:Positive for Ho-meobox protein cDX-2,cytokeratin 20,special AT-rich sequence-binding protein 2,and Mucin 2 but negative for cytokeratin 7 and Paired box gene *** profile aids in distinguishing appendiceal and ovarian mucinous *** recovery was uncomplicated,and the patient initiated adjuvant chemotherapy for the colon *** This case highlights the diagnostic complexity of AMNs,emphasizing the need for vigilant identification to avert potential complications,such as pseudomyxoma peritonei.

Nitric oxide removal by wastewater bacteria in a biotrickling filter

Nitric oxide （NO） is one of the most important air pollutants in atmosphere mainly emitted from combustion source. A biotriclding filter was designed and operated to remove NO from an air stream using bacteria extracted from the sewage sludge of a municipal sewage treatment plant. To obtain the best operation conditions for the biotrickling filter, orthogonal experiments （L9（34）） were designed. Inlet oxygen concentration was found to be the most significant factor of the biotrickling filter and has a significant negative effect on the system. The optimal conditions of the biotrickling filter occurred at a temperature of 40℃, a pH of 8.0 and a chemical oxygen demand of 165 mg/L in the recycled water with no oxygen in the system. The bacteria sample was detected by DNA sequencing technology and showed 93%-98% similarity to Pseudomonas mendocina. Moreover, a full gene sequencing results indicated the bacterium was a brand new strain and named as P. mendocina DLHK. This strain can transfer nitrate to organic nitrogen. The result suggested the assimilation nitrogen process in this system. Through the isotope experimental analysis, two intermediate products （^15NO and ^15N2O） were found. The results indicated the denitrification function and capability of the biotrickling filter in removing NO.

BAcKGROUND Enterocutaneous fistula(EcF) is an abnormal communication between the skin and the gastrointestinal tract and is associated with considerable morbidity and mortality. To diagnose EcF, X-ray fistulography and abdominal computed tomography(cT) with intravenous or oral contrast are generally used. If the anatomic details obtained from cT are insufficient, cT fistulography may help diagnose and determine the extent of the abnormal channel. However, cT fistulography is seldom performed in patients with insufficient evidence of a *** SUMMARY A 35-year-old man with a prior appendectomy presented with purulence over the abdominal wall without gastrointestinal tract symptoms or a visible opening on the abdominal surface. His history and physical examination were negative for nausea, diarrhea, muscle guarding, and bloating. Local abdominal tenderness and redness over a purulent area were noted, which led to the initial diagnosis of cellulitis. He was admitted to our hospital with a diagnosis of cellulitis. We performed a minimal incision on the carbuncle to collect the pus. The bacterial culture of the exudate resulted positive for Enterococcus sp. EcF was thus suspected, and we arranged a cT scan for further investigation. cT images before intravenous contrast administration showed that the colon was in close contact with the abdominal wall. Therefore, we conducted cT fistulography by injecting contrast dye into the carbuncle during the cT scan. The images showed an accumulation of the contrast agent within the subcutaneous tissues, suggesting the formation of an abscess. The contrast dye tracked down through the muscles and peritoneum into the colon, delineating a channel connecting the subcutaneous abscess with the colon. This evidence confirmed cecocutaneous fistula and avoided misdiagnosing EcF without gastrointestinal tract symptoms as cellulitis. Mechanical properties of microcrystalline branching selenite gypsum samples and influence of constituting factors

The high sedimentological variability of gypsum rocks has the effect that a univocal characterization of this material is not easy to establish. This is particularly true from the geomechanical point of view: when the mechanical properties of gypsum rocks are requested, it is therefore necessary to undertake detailed characterization analyses. common facies of gypsum was observed in the Upper Miocene evaporitic succession(Messinian Salinity crisis) within the whole Mediterranean Basin. In this work, mechanical tests were conducted on a site-specific facies, represented by the microcrystalline branching selenite. The tested samples came from the Monferrato area(northwestern Italy). Uniaxial compressive strength(UcS)tests were performed in order to obtain reference mechanical parameters. More rapid and economic point load test(PLT) and ultrasonic pulse velocity(UPV) measurements were additionally performed to verify their applicability as complementary/alternative methods for site characterization. Rock-type specific PLT-UcS and UPV-UcS relationships were established. A wide dispersion of the mechanical parameters was observed due to the heterogeneities of the studied material. consequently, compositional, textural and microstructural observations on selected samples were performed. Two main material classes were recognized based on average grain size and total gypsum content, underlining the significant influence of the grain sorting on the measured mechanical properties.

combining material characterization with single and multi-oxyanion adsorption for mechanistic study of chromate removal by cationic hydrogel

cationic hydrogel with magnetic property was synthesized via radical polymerization and its removal capacity of chromate from contaminated water was found to be 200 mg/*** Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy（FT-IR） study,the mechanism of chromate removal by hydrogel was found to be non-specific adsorption,mainly due to ion exchange,as evidenced by the positively charged functional group,trimethyl ammonium-N＋（cH3）3,in the *** were accordingly determined by testing di？erent oxyanion adsorption onto the *** results of the chromate adsorption experiments illustrated that the amount of chromate adsorbed was nearly equal to that of the chloride released from the hydrogel,which is part of the evidence for ion *** and multi-oxyanion adsorption experiments were also performed,and it was demonstrated that ion removal was species independent,but charge dependent,another characteristic of the ion exchange *** was found that the same Langmuir model can be applied to best fit the findings of single and multi-oxyanion adsorption,which further indicates the mechanism of chromate removal is attributed to ion *** view of the above,the background anions compete for adsorption sites with chromate,evidenced by inhibitive chromate removal in the presence of background electrolytes in the batch studies,further echoing the ion exchange mechanism.

Influence of dehydrating agents on the oxidative carbonylation of methanol for dimethyl carbonate synthesis over a cu/Y-zeolite catalyst

The influence of the dehydration by metal oxides on the synthesis of dimethyl carbonate （DMc） via oxidative carbonylation of methanol was studied. A cu/Y-zeolite catalyst was prepared by the ion exchange method from cucl2.2H2O and the commercial NH4-form of the Y type zeolite, The catalyst was characterized by X-ray fluorescence （XRF）, N2 adsorption （BET method）, X-ray diffraction （XRD）, and temperature-programmed de- sorption of ammonia （NH3-TPD） to evaluate its cu and cl content, surface area, structure, and acidity. Reaction tests were carried out using an autoclave （batch reactor） for 18 h at 403 K and 5.5 MPa （2cH3OH ＋ 1/2O2 ＋ cO （cH3O）2cO ＋ H2O）. The influence of various dehydrating agents （ZnO, MgO, and caO） was examined with the aim of increasing the methanol conversion （XMeOH, MeOH conversion）. The MeOH conversion increased upon addition of metal oxides in the order caO 〉〉 MgO 〉 ZnO, with the DMc selectivity （SDMc） following the order MgO 〉 caO 〉 ZnO. The catalysts and dehydrating agents were characterized before and after the oxidative carbonylation of methanol by thermogravimetric and differential thermogravimetric （TG/DTG）, and XRD to con- firm that the dehydration reaction occurred via the metal oxide （MO ＋ H2O →M（OH）2）. The MeOH conversion increased from 8.7% to 14.6% and DMc selectivity increased from 39.0% to 53.1%, when using the dehydrating azent caO.

Predicting human lifespan limits

Recent discoveries show steady improvements in life expectancy during modern decades. Does this support that humans continue to live longer in future? We recently put forward the maximum survival tendency, as found in survival curves of industrialized countries, which is described by extended Weibull model with agedependent stretched exponent. The maximum survival ten dency suggests that human survival dynamics may possess its intrinsic limit, beyond which survival is inevitably forbidden. Based on such tendency, we develop the model and explore the patterns in the maximum lifespan limits from industrialized countries during recent three decades. This analysis strategy is simple and useful to interpret the complicated human survival dynamics.
