Abrasives,such as oxides of alumina(Al),silica(Si),zirconia(Zr),chromium(Cr)etc.,are added to raise the friction level and also to remove the glaze on the disc so that surface will be rejuvenated continuously during braking and will contribute to maintain the desired friction ***,these inorganic particles have less adhesion with the resin/binder and hence are easily dug out during wearing process contributing to higher *** efforts are made to enhance the filler‐matrix adhesion,not only the wear of friction material(FM)should reduce,the particles may stay for a longer time on the tribo‐surface of the pads to contribute fully towards controlling the coefficient of friction(μ).In the present study,alumina particles were selected for siloxane treatment to improve the filler‐matrix *** types of eco‐friendly(free from asbestos and Cu)brake‐pads were developed using alumina as a theme ingredient(treated and untreated)keeping all the parent formulation *** additional type of brake‐pads without alumina particles was also developed to observe the effect of abrasive particles on the tribo‐*** performance properties(physical,mechanical,and tribological)of brake‐pads were compared when evaluated in identical *** tribotesting was done on full‐scale brake inertia dynamometer following the procedure in Japanese automobile standard(JASO C 406).It was observed that siloxane treatment affected both friction and wear of brake‐pads in a beneficial *** resistance got increased 35%for siloxane treated *** surfaces were analysed using scanning electron microscopy(SEM)and energy dispersive X‐ray(EDAX)technique.

This study investigates the effects of conserved tills on the fluxes of carbon dioxide(CO_(2))and soil organic carbon(SOC)from a rain-fed-paddy plot in Assam(North-eastern state of India).Two paddy plots identical in soil properties,developed to cultivate rice(Sali,grown in low-lying areas of Assam),were adjacent to each other to follow a conventional agricultural practice in one and conservation in the *** chambers(1 m×0.6 m×0.4 m)were placed in both the plots to collect runoff for analyzing CO_(2) *** results of the both practices have been *** conservation plot,the SOC was high in the range from 3.17+0.01 kg m^(−2) to 20.42+0.56 kg m^(−2) and the CO_(2) emission was less,i.e.97.30+7.11 mg m^(−2) h^(-1) as compared to 189.65+4.37 mg m^(−2) h^(-1) of the conventional *** tillage practiced for the conservation plot facilitated higher porosity(50.11+8.40%to 88.87+3.59%)and greater water retention(47.47+1.15%to 101.37+1.63%)in the *** results indicate that more tillage exposed the soil to atmospheric oxygen more,which leads to excess mineralization of organic carbon and emissions of CO_(2) as in the conventional plot.

Recent advancements in cloud computing(CC)technologies signified that several distinct web services are presently developed and exist at the cloud data ***,web service composition gains maximum attention among researchers due to its significance in real-time *** of Service(QoS)aware service composition concerned regarding the election of candidate services with the maximization of the whole *** these models have failed to handle the uncertainties of *** resulting QoS of composite service identified by the clients become unstable and subject to risks of failing composition by *** the other hand,trip planning is an essential technique in supporting digital map *** aims to determine a set of location based services(LBS)which cover all client intended activities quantified in the *** the available web service composition solutions do not consider the complicated spatio-temporal *** resolving this issue,this study develops a new hybridization of the firefly optimization algorithm with fuzzy logic based web service composition model(F3L-WSCM)in a cloud environment for location *** presented F3L-WSCM model involves a discovery module which enables the client to provide a query related to trip planning such as flight booking,hotels,car rentals,*** the next stage,the firefly algorithm is applied to generate composition plans to minimize the number of composition *** by,the fuzzy subtractive clustering(FSC)will select the best composition plan from the available composite ***,the presented F3L-WSCM model involves four input QoS parameters namely service cost,service availability,service response time,and user *** extensive experimental analysis takes place on CloudSim tool and exhibit the superior performance of the presented F3L-WSCM model in terms of accuracy,execution time,and efficiency.

Standardization of choroidal thickness measurements using enhanced depth imaging optical coherence tomography

AIM: To describe and evaluate a standardized protocol for measuring the choroidal thickness(Ch T) using enhanced depth imaging optical coherence tomography(EDI OCT).METHODS: Single 9 mm EDI OCT line scans across the fovea were used for this study. The protocol used in this study classified the EDI OCT images into four groups based on the appearance of the choroidal-scleral interface and suprachoroidal space. Two evaluation iterations of experiments were performed: first, the protocol was validated in a pilot study of 12 healthy eyes. Afterwards, the applicability of the protocol was tested in 82 eyes of patients with diabetes. Inter-observer and intra-observer agreements on image classifications were performed using Cohen’s kappa coefficient(κ). Intraclass correlation coefficient(ICC) and Bland-Altman’s methodology were used for the measurement of the Ch ***: There was a moderate(κ=0.42) and perfect(κ =1) inter- and intra-observer agreements on image classifications from healthy eyes images and substantial(κ =0.66) and almost perfect(κ =0.86) agreements from diabetic eyes images. The proposed protocol showed excellent inter- and intra-observer agreements for the Ch T measurements on both, healthy eyes and diabetic eyes(ICC >0.90 in all image categories). The Bland-Altman plot showed a relatively large Ch T measurement agreement in the scans that contained less visible choroidal outer boundary. CONCLUSION: A protocol to standardize Ch T measurements in EDI OCT images has been developed;the results obtained using this protocol show that the technique is accurate and reliable for routine clinical practice and research.

Using data from the Large Area X-ray Proportional Counter(LAXPC)on the AstroSat satellite,we observed Type-1 thermonuclear X-ray bursts from the low mass X-ray binary neutron star 4 U *** of 4 U 1323-62 that were carried out during the performance verification phase of the AstroSat satellite indicated six thermonuclear X-ray bursts in a total effective exposure of^49.5 ks for about two consecutive *** time of the detected thermonuclear bursts is in accordance with the orbital period of the source,~9400 ***,the light curve of 4 U 1323-62 revealed the presence of two *** present the results from time-resolved spectroscopy performed during all of the six X-ray bursts and also report the detection of a known low frequency quasi-periodic oscillation(LFQPO)at^1 Hz from the ***,any evidence of kilohertz QPO was not *** have shown the burst profile at different energy *** a distance of 10 kpc,we observed a mean flux of^1.8×10^-9 erg cm^2 s^-*** radius of the blackbody is found to be highly consistent with the blackbody temperature and the blackbody flux of the bursts.

A Robust Image Watermarking Scheme Using Z-Transform, Discrete Wavelet Transform and Bidiagonal Singular Value Decomposition

Watermarking is a widely used solution to the problems of authentication and copyright protection of digital media especially for images,videos,and audio *** is one of the emerging techniques adopted in image watermarking schemes due to its intrinsic cryptographic *** paper proposes a new chaotic hybrid watermarking method combining Discrete Wavelet Transform(DWT),Z-transform(ZT)and Bidiagonal Singular Value Decomposition(BSVD).The original image is decomposed into 3-level DWT,and then,ZT is applied on the HH3 and HL3 *** watermark image is encrypted using Arnold Cat *** for the watermark and transformed original image were computed,and the watermark was embedded by modifying singular values of the host image with the singular values of the watermark *** of the proposed scheme was examined using standard test images and assessed against common signal processing and geometric *** indicated that the proposed method is transparent and highly robust.

AstroSat Observations of the Be/X-Ray Binary XTE J1946+274 During 2018 and 2021 Outbursts

We present the timing and spectral studies of the Be/X-ray binary XTE J1946+274 during its 2018 and 2021 giant outbursts using observations with the SXT and LAXPC instruments on the AstroSat *** the 1998 and 2010 outbursts,where a giant outburst was followed by several low intensity periodic outbursts,the 2018 and 2021 outbursts were single *** X-ray pulsations are detected over a broad energy band covering 0.5–80 keV from the compact *** construct the spin evolution history of the pulsar over two decades and find that the pulsar spins-up during the outbursts but switches to spin-down state in the quiescent periods between the *** resolved pulse profiles generated in several bands in 0.5–80 keV show that the pulse shape varies with the *** energy spectrum of the pulsar is determined for the 2018 and 2021 *** best fit spectral models require presence of cyclotron resonant scattering feature at about 43 keV in the energy spectra of both the *** find indication of possible reversal in the correlation between the cyclotron line energy and luminosity which needs to be ascertained from future *** the best fit spectra the X-ray luminosity of XTE J1946+274 is inferred to be 2.7×10^(37) erg s^(-1) for the 2018 observations and 2.3×10^(37) erg s^(-1) for the 2021 *** discuss possible mechanisms which can drive outbursts in this transient Be X-ray binary.

Results on timing and spectral properties of the Be/X-ray binary pulsar 3A 0726-260(4U 0728-25)are *** binary was observed on 2016 May 6-7 with the Large Area X-ray Proportional Counter(LAXPC)and Soft X-ray Telescope(SXT)instruments onboard the AstroSat *** this observation,the source was in non-flaring persistent state at a flux level of^8.6±0.3×10^-11 erg cm^-2 s^-1in 0.4-20 *** X-ray pulsations with a period of 103.144±0.001 s are detected in 0.3-7 keV with the SXT and in 3-40 keV with the *** pulse profile is energy dependent,and there is an indication that the pulse shape changes from a broad single pulse to a double pulse at higher *** energies above20 keV,we report the first time detection of pulsation period 103.145±0.001 s and the double peaked pulse profile from the *** energy spectrum of the source is derived from the combined analysis of the SXT and LAXPC spectral data in 0.4-20 *** best spectral fit is obtained by a power law model with a photon index(1.7±0.03)with high energy spectral cut-off at 12.9±0.7 keV.A broad iron line at^6.3 keV is detected in the energy *** briefly discuss the implications of these results.

Myanmar-Andaman-Sumatra Subduction Margin Revisited:Insights of Arc-Specific Deformations

We address the role of the concave and convex arcs （as observed from the subducting plate） on the deformation occurring along the Myanmar-Andaman-Sumatra margin. We categorize the pre- and post-seismic deformations of the lithosphere using earthquake database occurring either prior to 26th December 2004 Mw 9.3 off-Sumatra mega-event or after the incidence. Analysis under pre-seismic domain shows that area near Sumatra records highest seismicity, which largely drops in the area past the North Andaman, and further increases towards north. Shallowest depth and mini- mum dip of the subducting lithosphere is recorded at the central segment where the arc transformed into concave shape. The annual moment energy release during earthquake decreases to more than two orders of magnitude past the North Andaman towards north under post-seismic deformation phase. Higher depths of continuity of events are presumably associated with more dipping Benioff zones in both the Indo-Myanmar and Andaman-Nicobar convex arcs. These observations obviously account for tectonic subdivision of the margin near concave shape arc around the central part. Absence of vol- canism, presence of splay faults in the back-arc, sharp reduction in seismicity near central segment are interpreted to be caused by major tectonic impact of the NNE-ward converging buoyant Ninety-east Ridge against the Asian Plate. Shallowest dip, small elastic thickness, weak converging Indian litho- sphere, and evidences of series of en-echelon blocks off the eastern side of the broken northern Ninety- east Ridge might be incapable of generating great earthquake in this area.
