Potential of biochar and organic amendments for reclamation of coastal acidic-salt affected soil

Salinity and acidity have affected several hundred million hectares of land throughout the globe which poses a major threat to global food security and *** of organic amendments for salt-affected soils has been identified as one of the most effective ways to mitigate salinity-induced problems and considered as a green technique offering twin benefits of waste load reduction and land ***,studies on reclaiming acidic-salt affected soils are ***,this study aimed to determine the reclamation potential of biochars and organic amendments involving Gliricidia sepium biochar produced at 300℃,500℃,and 700℃,green waste compost,and municipal sewage sludge at three different amend-ment ratios,1.0%,2.5%and 5.0%.The incubation experiment was conducted for a 4-month period with different amendment ratios applied to the coastal acidic-salt affected *** were extracted from incubation pots after 1 and 4 months and analyzed for soil chemical parameters(pH,EC,NO_(3)^(−),PO_(4)^(3−,total organic carbon,cation exchange capacity,sodium adsorption ratio,exchangeable sodium percentage)and microbial enzyme activity(catalase activity,and acid-and alkaline phosphatase activity).All organic amendments demonstrated enhancement of the soil properties in a significant ***,increasing incubation time and amendment ratio increase the changes of soil parameters by a great ***,the maximum amendment ratio of 5.0%and 4 months of incubation period rendered a significant improvement in the reclamation of acidic-salt affected ***,the biochar produced at 500℃ contributed the maximum towards the improved physicochemical and biochemical profile of acidic-salt affected soil,making it the most promising organic amend-ment for the reclamation of acidic-salt affected *** overall reclamation efficiency of organic amendments registered the following order of variation:700 BC

Preparation of rice fermented food using root of Asparagus racemosus as herbal starter and assessment of its nutrient profle

The popularity of traditional fermented food products is based on their *** addition of a starter brings consistent,desirable,and predictable food changes with improved nutritive,functional,and sensory *** addition of a mixture of plant residues as a starter or source of microbes is an age-old practice to prepare traditional fermented food and beverages,and most of the reported data on traditional foods were based on the analysis of the fnal *** contribution of an individual starter component(plant residue)is not experimentally substantiated for any traditional fermented food,but this data are very essential for the formulation of an efective *** this study,Asparagus racemosus,which used as a common ingredient of starter for preparation of rice fermented food in the Indian sub-continent,was used as a starter for the preparation of rice fermented food under laboratory scale,and its microbial and nutrient profle was *** fermented product was a good source of lactic acid bacteria,Bifdobacterium sp.,yeast,*** food product was acidic and enriched with lactic acid and acetic acid with titratable acidity of 0.65%.The content of protein,fat,minerals,and vitamins(water-soluble)was considerably *** notably,oligosaccharide(G3-matotriose),unsaturated fatty acids(ω3,ω6,ω7,andω9),and a pool of essential and non-essential amino acids were enriched in the newly formulated ***,the herbal starter-based rice fermented food would provide important macro-and *** could also deliver large numbers of active microorganisms for the sustainability of ***,the selected plant part conferred its suitability as an efective starter for the preparation of healthier rice-based food products.

Integrated application of some compatible biocontrol agents along with mustard oil seed cake and furadan on Meloidogyne incognita infecting tomato plants

Experiments were carried out to study the effect of two fungal bioagents along with mustard oil cake and furadan against root knot nematode Meloidogyne incognita infecting tomato under greenhouse condition. Bioagents viz., Paecilomyces lilacinus and Trichoderma viride alone or in combination with mustard cake and furadan promoted plant growth, reduced number of galls/plant, egg masses/root system and eggs/egg mass. The fungal bioagents along with mustard cake and nematicide showed least nematodes reproduction factor as compared to untreated infested soil.

A field experiment was conducted for two consecutive years at North Eastern Indian Himalayan region to assess the effect of soil moisture conservation measures on soil and water productivity of different rainfed maize(Zea mays L.)-based cropping *** revealed that double mulching with in-situ maize stover mulch(MSM)+fresh biomass of white hoary pea(WHP-Tephrosia candida)and MSM+fresh biomass of ragweed(RW-Ambrosia artemisiifolia)improved soil moisture content(SMC)and leaf relative water content of crops during dry *** soil organic carbon(SOC)content and stocks under MSM+WHP and MSM+RW mulches were significantly higher than that under no mulch at 0-15 cm *** soil microbial biomass carbon and dehydrogenase activity were maximum under MSM+WHP/*** highest system productivity was obtained from maize-French bean(Pole type-PT)sequence under MSM+RW followed by MSM+*** water productivity was the highest under MSM+*** SOC content was the highest under maize-French bean(PT),the maximum plant available nitrogen and phosphorus were obtained under maize-black gram ***,double mulching technology involving MSM and RW(available in plenty)is a viable option for improving soil,crop and water productivity under rainfed hill ecosystems of eastern Indian Himalayas.

下一代电子产品的飞速发展对热管理提出了更高的要求。初始石墨烯的导热性是铜的13倍。本文通过快速热处理化学气相沉积(RTP-CVD)法制备了具有大sp^(2)结构域的单层、双层和多层石墨烯(SLG、BLG、FLG),进一步通过低浓度H_(2)还原制备了高导热石墨烯。在1000℃下生长25 min制备出SLG,利用拉曼光谱和透射电子显微镜(TEM)研究了石墨烯的品质。为了验证RTP-CVD法生成的石墨烯的散热能力,将其作为2TB固态硬盘的散热器,通过红外热成像仪进行了研究。结果证明,RTP-CVD生长的石墨烯用于消费电子产品的热管理测试时性能表现优异。SLG显示温度(最高)比商用铜散热器低5℃,SLG的散热能力比商用铜散热器快200倍左右。综上,利用RTP-CVD法制备的轻质的柔性石墨烯可以成为下一代5G设备和消费电子产品热管理的更好选择。

Effects of lifestyle modification on liver enzyme and Fibroscan in Indian patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease

Background and aims:Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)is remarkably increasing in developing countries like India,in parallel with the increasing incidence of *** modification is a recommended treatment for *** most of the previous studies,improvement after lifestyle modification was assessed by liver fibrosis through liver biopsy,but we cannot do a serial liver biopsy in every NAFLD *** fibrosis can also be assessed by fibroscan non-invasively in *** study was designed to evaluate the effect of lifestyle modification on liver enzymes and Fibroscan values in a population with ***:Initially,50 NAFLD patients were included in this prospective follow-up study;however,after 6 months of lifestyle modification,only 39 participants were *** both the first and second consultations,Fibroscan was carried *** participants underwent a careful interview,anthropometry measurements and radiological and biochemical tests during every ***:After 6 months of lifestyle modification,Fibroscan values improved significantly(8.3160.11kPa vs 7.8760.12kPa,p¼0.009).Alanine aminotransferase(ALT)values also showed improvement during the second consultation(97.2562.62 U/L vs 66.6963.95 U/L,p<0.001).Conclusion:Measured by Fibroscan and liver enzymes,it has been found that lifestyle modification is an effective therapy to downgrade hepatic injury in NAFLD *** Fibroscan can be used to assess the treatment response in NAFLD patients due to its non-invasive nature.

COMPARISON OF ANALYTICAL SOLUTIONS FOR CMSMPR CRYSTALLIZER WITH QMOM POPULATION BALANCE MODELING IN FLUENT

Fluent version 6.2 computational fluid dynamics environment has been enhanced with a population balance capability that operates in conjunction with its multiphase calculations to predict the particle size distribution within the flow field. The population balance is solved by the quadrature method of moments （QMOM）. Fluent＇s prediction capabilities are tested by using a 2-dimensional analogy of a constantly stirred tank reactor with a fluid flow compartment that mixes the fluid quickly and efficiently using wall movement and has a feed stream and a product stream. The results of these Fluent simulations using QMOM population balance solver are compared to steady state analytical solutions for the population balance in a stirred tank where 1） growth, 2） aggregation, and 3） breakage, take place separately and 4） combined nucleation and growth and 5） combined nucleation, growth and aggregation take place. The results of these comparisons show that the moments of the population balance are accurately predicted for nucleation, growth, aggregation and breakage when the flow field is turbulent. With laminar flow the mixing is not ideal and as a result the steady state well mixed solutions are not accurately simulated.

Two types of uranium mineralization in Gulcheru quartzite:Fracture-controlled in Ambakapalle area and litho-controlled in Tummalapalle area,Cuddapah Basin,Andhra Pradesh,India

The Cuddapah Basin in southern India has a potential for uranium mineralization due to some favorable factors such as its temporal, stratigraphic and tectonic settings. Systematic exploration program conducted by the Atomic Minerals Directorate for Exploration and Research (AMD) within the Cuddapah Basin resulting in the recognition of distinct types of uranium mineralization, viz., strata bound type, fracture/shear-controlled type and tabular type. The Gulcheru Formation which is the lowermost unit of the Cuddapah Basin is dominantly arenitic in nature. During the exploration works, a number of uranium anomalies were identified with dimensions ranging from 1 m to 1.5 km. Gulcheru quartzite hosted uranium mineralization is intermittent and inconsistent in nature. The anomalous outcrops are distributed over a strike length of ca. 60 km between Gandi in the SE and Ambakapallein the NW. Presently, two different types of uranium mineralization are characterized on the basis of field observations, mapping and structural interpretation, petro-mineralogy and geochemistry. Although the host rock is same for both types, the mechanism of uranium enrichment is totally different. The Ambakapalle uranium mineralization is controlled by fault zone and associated hydrothermal activity. Whereas, the Tummalapalle uranium mineralization is litho-controlled in nature influenced by suitable four ‘P’ factors, i.e., provenance, porositypermeability, precipitation and preservation. The geochemical characterization of Gulcheru quartzite suggest a passive margin type of provenance setting. Petro-mineralogically the quartz arenite suggests enough textural as well as mineralogical maturity. Ambakapalle quartzite is slightly strained and deformed due to faulting. Analysis of selected samples recorded 0.01% to 0.048% U3O8 and <0.01% ThO2.
